I've been seeing a (wild) Raven handing around our area recently. Which is the suburbs of a town about 120 miles north of London. Really un-usual around here. It stands out as it looks huge next to common crows with slightly shiny feathers.

TheCavale40 do you like the idea of clipping wings so the gift of flight can be no more, do you like the idea of holding the keys to another freedom, do you like the idea of having a being indebted to you for it's life. Yes sir you are a special breed those that can incarcerate with pleasure in the delusion of something good. I can only wish that the monarchy of the UK are swift with change to make their subjects dear for them and not loath them, for I hear they have lost the sympathy of those who love animals and indeed all creatures. God grant you the wisdom to seek a more honourable means of employment.

Their wings are only really trimmed, they can still fly but not far enough to get lost, being raised usually from chicks. The only thing I would disagree with is, “they’re exactly the same as dogs or cats.” Rivaling man’s greatest gifts in intelligence and memory.... is corvidae, the family which includes the crow and the raven. One of earth’s most intelligent animals. Just one question.... why are we clipping their flight features? Is it to keep ravens on the grounds for show? Or legitimate.

I adore ravens, it’s sad they need to have their feathers clipped to keep them safe. I would love this job. There are ravens at my parents’ house and I love to “play” with them. My dog kills rabbits and the ravens get whatever she catches. They are smart and know you if you’ve had contact with them. If I didn’t have other pets, I’d put myself on the list to take in a Raven that can’t be released due to disability. It’s an honor to get chosen to care for one of these birds. Sadly, at my home in the city, I only have a small murder of crows to feed rabbits.

Depends on HOW one prays and TO WHOM one prays....If you pray to ODIN and a raven shows up at your windowsill, then there is a very good chance that Odin not only has heard your prayer, but actually ANSWERED it as well. If, like Edgar Alan Poe, you discover a real live raven in your bedroom, I personally would NOT take that as a good sign, unless the raven said something to me like: "Your enemies have placed me in your room to scare you, since they know that you are afraid of ravens in your room", instead of the more simple and succinct "NEVER MORE".

It's amazing how something so cruel can be made so sugar coated. Notice the instinct of a bird is to fly! Obviously they can't fly believe any expert that will tell you they would not choose to be there! Don't clip the wings and see what happens! This bull shot thing about the ravens leaving would mean the end of the world is just that bull shot!, and the legend states ravens that are not with clipped wings! I would like to think that it is the longing of this man in a strange costume and those before him who continues this cruel practice and not a progressive monarchy! For heaven's sake it's the UK not some backwards back washed asylum! on the moon! Or am I to believe as some media sites suggest that it symbolizes the rule of law? They would not obey if they could think for themselves! But if it's done for as the man says for their good, then perhaps it is so with ruling people, they need to be clipped for their own good?

The feathers grow rapidly, and must be trimmed every three to four weeks. Skaife is actually conservative when trimming the primary and secondary flight feathers, and the birds can actually fly high enough to perch on the weather vanes atop the towers. The females have slightly more trimmed away, whereas the males are only slightly trimmed. Skaife observed that the males stay close to the females, even though the males have nearly full flight capability. Rather sly on Skaife's part.
