It’s because of the way the awd system works. WRX’s need a different style driving to take advantage of the awd system. In WRX’s you need to setup corners to have the whole car in a slight powerslide throttling the power to obtain the perfect exit. Where the RAV4 will be more forgiving because it is front wheel biased giving the driver big error margins if the weight transfer is not correct.

Great car! Love the idea! Actually the Toyota VVT-I engines are fully variable, not just on/off cam control systems. They have spool valves at the back (AZ) or the front (ZZ) of the engine's head that is responsible for the control. Range is 40° crank angle. They will provide better driveablity, and down low, it helps the charging system to come to life.

Yeeaaah, that always hurts to think about. All of the legendary engines that have been thrashed, if not totally destroyed, because they were plentiful..thankfully lots of 1 & 2JZ's are still out there, plus the 1, 2, & 3UZ's. Lots of B & K series left, endless LS's & LT's. I love the 1JZ/GZ/UZ engines the most. That and those sweeeet sweet AMC V8's, & Pontiac V8's. Flat plane Ferrari V8's in the Maseratis are so sick as well. Dude in town has a mid-2000's Quattroporté & it's glorious sounding. Aston V10's and of course Audi V8's & V10's are also choice! A great 426Hemi is epic as well, but I absolutely love the Chrysler 318 V8. Oh! And the Ford 289 & 302 (in a Fox Body Mustang of course!). Petrol head through & through right here! Oh yeah, Alfa's Busso, Jags & BMW's Inline 6, and the classic (50's & 60's) Ferrari V8's & V12's. Bellissimo!

A good idea for this in a different build would be do the full engine and frame swap from the v6 Rav (2GR-FE). Over 270hp factory... then get a built 2GR-FE for a 400hp NA V6 manual screamer... OR fit the supercharger like the TRD Aurion. Would be a sick nugget in the short wheelbase Rav!!

You boys have made me miss my rav with this build. And im sitting here really tossing up between buying a landcruiser/patrol or buying another rav so i can lift, turbo, muddies and make my 4wd club cry when i keep up with them.

Good choice going for the Aussie built 2AZ engine from the Camry. I find the oil consumption is far less than the Japanese built 2AZ engine. Another tip: the 36 series Camry had a 9.6:1 compression, while the 40 series Camry had a 9.8:1 compression.

Surorised Marty fidnt go Old schoo subaru and do an intercooler sprayer like out of an old sti or RA. Making in with just the regular wash tnak would be easy as or adding anotherbwasher tank and just plumbing it to the IC with a normal windshield nozzle
