We have a few other vehicles so no BMW PTSD. With that said the BMW has never left me stranded. Even when it threw the belt. Still made it home.

For the longest time, I never clicked on any of your videos. I don't know if it was the channel name or what, but I just assumed it was like "douchey" car content that you see a lot of nowadays. I feel bad even saying that, because I absolutely love your channel! My favorite part is just that you show your full diagnosis process, the little wins (like finding dropped bolts) as well as when things don't work out. The other thing I love is that you're not always focused on "out of reach" cars which has become commonplace on the internet today. Just a great channel, and again I apologize for whatever weird assumptions I had made before I even watched a single one of your videos. Keep being great! Love the intro, btw. Cheers from CT

However, it’s one of my father in law’s favorite BMW, colour, spec… When you’re done with your magic, I’m sure you will sell it on. If we could work something out including shipping here, I would love to surprise my father in law for his 74th birthday in August with this X6. I’ve been looking for a long time and cannot find one here, as clean as yours for less than 20,000 €. His current daily driver is a 2009 Audi Q7 TDI. He likes it well enough, but my wife and I drive it more often than he does. Just let me know if it’s OK when you decide to sell it and maybe we can work something out.

I worked at a BMW specialist shop for awhile, and absolutely hated working on the N63, and S63 engine while in the car. No room for anything. However, whenever they're running good, they're really fun. I did downpipes, a straight pipe exhaust, and a tune on a fresh motor, and that thing sounded insane on the dyno.

27:49 Pro tip....when I did my N63 exhaust vanos solenoids, that hidden bolt was a huge pain. I cut a slot in the intercooler mount bracket arm, so that no I can pre-install the bolt without fear of dropping it, and it helps mount and situate the intercooler on reinstallation.

I am a truck driver and a diesel mechanic. Since today's truck have air suspensions, I have dealt with a lot of air lines. While the video does call them a ferrule, they are also commonly referred to as barrels too. While most of the vinyl airlines I have worked on do not commonly have a split in the barrel, if you look at an American version, the crush ferrule does look like a barrel. The vinyl airlines we work on usually have a small pipe that goes into the airline, so the barrel has something to crush the vinyl line to. The whole fitting itself is called a compression fitting.

There were small stores about every 2 blocks and major stores every half mile. Walking to the store with your kids and a stroller or a little cart was quite common. Your jobs were close because the bus systems were reliable and convenient. It was a different world just a short time ago.

Awesome video as always! Having myself fell for the appeal of how cheap many once very expensive, safe, and luxury laden German vehicles there are, and knowing this is magnified by the very real fear of complex and expensive, if not nearly impossible repair, often regardless of overall condition I have participated myself. Love the gamble paying off....(so far:) As far as looks, that X6 has grown on me as well since it came out. Yet by far my favorite BMW SUV is the 2002-2003 X5 4.6is. A form and function factory M vehicle with a N/A V8, the right modifications, cool clean look, and huge for the time staggered 5 spoke wheels and tires....worthy of a spot imo...

I enjoyed this video! Great job! I love that you are a trouble shooter not a parts changer… Yes we have to change parts but you search for causation and also recognize engineering failures and explain solutions! I don’t mind the shape of the X6 I see it far more as a comfortable performance tourer than an SUV

I MISS MY BIMMER! I had a 2016 550xi, bought in 2019, was totaled out last April when I was rear ended by a 17 year old on the freeway. Watching this makes me miss that car SO MUCH! If this car was to cup up at auction I would SINCERELY have to consider bidding on it. Not sure if it's in my budget, but the N63 (in my case tu) era BMWs with the last of the V8s are still some of the cleanest looking of the recent BMWs!

39:35 There are a few articles and videos regarding 5-seater conversions for the E71 X6 so you might want to start with that. I also thought, maybe you can just replace the whole 2nd row seats to that of an X5 which do not have the cubby holes in the center, after all they're basically twins (E70 X5 and E71 X6) so there should be some interchangeability across those two. I could be wrong but worth a try I guess.

Funny, my mother in law has a 2012 Honda Accord (as so many others do).. and she had an engine light and a very rough idle with no power driving, her variable valve timing solenoid was clogged or, well reading bad.. she called Honda and they wanted her to bring it in, giver her a donor car, minimum $800 up to $1200 for the repair, PLUS anything else they found on the way, belt, oil change, plugs, you know the deal.. yeah.. I spent a half hour and got the belt off (not easy) pulled the VVT solenoid, cleaned it, tested it with an old tool battery, was like yeah it works, the screen was TOTALLY clogged though.. Car's been fine for like 3 years no problems since. Yay.

New air bags and dampers usually come with a white plug in the air line fitting. Once you get the old ferrule and fitting off the air line. Remove the white plug and push the air line in. then tug on it to make sure it’s locked in. No need to remove the fitting and put the ferrule on the line.

Being a previous vehicle inspector for an auction, I'm perplexed as to why they listed the engine as cracked when it obviously started, ran and all sorts of fluids weren't pouring out. I think the person who inspected it must have genuinely thought that the cracked engine cover was part of the engine block or something? I mean, it's weird. I wish I could have found a deal like this back when I was an independent dealer. Hell of a great vehicle for $3500, especially good for a mechanic to have since the engines are a bit temperamental. For $3500 I'd just keep it around as a driver, you could keep it several years and like you said, you could part it out and get your money back if the engine ends up going night night. Can't wait to see it fully detailed, that color is really going to pop after a good buff and wax! One of my favorite things used to be, detailing the car once I got it home from the auction, I loved seeing the before and after. Isn't it nice when something like this works out? 🚙👍🏻
