Yeah, it's really crazy here lately. It's happening to many rivers, creeks, and streams. So many people affected. TommyTester has been going down there to help people pump out their basements etc.. A very good man there. I go down there and all I can think of is flying opportunities :( I probably deserved to lose my quad lol.

Yes, it's always sad to see them die :( But, it's always fun to build a new one too lol. Thanks for the condolences, and for watching. I would have loved to get that footage and stabilize it and make it oh so pretty. Dang.. lol.

Video quality is good but racing around like your in Star Wars doesn’t give one time to focus on the subject. Try slowing down and stopping periodically throughout the flight so you can ‘take in’ the devastation

He's not flying a dji drone. There's no position hold lol. He's got maybe 4 minutes per pack. Hovering lowers the flight time. Maybe understand what type of UAS is being flown before getting upset

all true! however, it's not what those kind of drones are built for. But I also took some mavic 3 footage of the spectacle that I will be posting this weekend. Much slower and methodical. thanks man. It sure would've been nice to see what I captured, I think it would have color graded nicely. I have a vid of it with music coming out tomorrow. not a lot of dynamic range in the goggle feed lol. I was waiting for the off axis crew to rip my OSD lol, but they didn't, so I took that as it my setup wasn't completely lame lol. I like to see my cell voltage, it's usually important to me ;) Thanks for stopping by. I have another version with music and a sheriffs deputy cameo in it coming soon. :)

Fortunately, I was lucky enough to take off the naked GP while flying this location. Phew!!! It was one of the few thoughts that comforted me on the way home lol. That, and I had the goggle footage. The SD card is what's irreplaceable, and priceless to me. I've already ordered the replacement parts, I will truly build back better ;) I just published a slightly better version with music and an added scene and memorial lol. More entertaining than this one. I appreciate the sympathy, friend, it's the first quad I have lost. But I said good bye to that quad everytime I would take off, because it's always just a game of russian roulette amigo. Man, it just poured like crazy last night, it isn't getting better anytime soon for those poor folks. That house in the video is all gone now, just 3 hours after I took that video. SMH. That is a strong community down there though, they'll survive.

@@zolikingsthorpe7297 well best I could tell, it landed in the water. It looked like it landed there, but I think that was just the last frame before it submerged and disconnected. I looked at some drone footage of the area from yesterday, and the water has subsided quite a bit. no quad in site. but I'll keep looking :) Thanks for the comment and for watching, appreciated, friend.

@@BartManDude Yeah man, it's not hard to figure out the folk's who lost their house, outbuilding, and an iconic store that apparently was the wonderful stop for the dam best pies and live bait. They did nothing wrong, but too many people take wonder and joy in their loss. What struck me was, in this video, was the 'tape' for stay away... which now all that land is GONE, just what, 48 hours later? I just shows the power of nature.

Yes, I do. :) I'll be posting some footage from a mavic 3 where it goes really slow over the water. This footage was from the googles of an FPV drone that crashed where I lost all of the good camera footage, which would have been stabilized, edited, color graded, and music playing over it. It would have been spectacular IMHO. Now, it's just this. I'm sorry that it wasn't what you expected, perhaps there will be a next time 🙏👊

Bro he's got maybe 4 minutes per battery. Not position hold. No altitude hold. He's getting an FPV prospective. A mavic is for the slow Ariel shots.

The deputies were flying their matrices and mavic enterprises around all over there. We asked the deputy if he minded if we also flew, he did not. There were helicopters, ultralights, and air planes buzzing the area about 200 - 400' above the entire time we were there. not to mention a bunch of drones. It's not much of a dam anymore, more of an obstacle. We checked LAANC and saw nothing but class g space. Thanks for watching and commenting, friend, always appreciated.

it does't take much to entertain people with low mentality with flowing water.

I have no idea why they are handling things there the way that they are. The army corp of engineers were just standing on the bridge while we were there. perhaps they were plotting a plan, about 5 days too late lol. It might have been just too dangerous to have any vehicles on the edge of the shore lowering in materials. I'm curious as well. Thanks for stopping to watch, and comment. I appreciate it, friend.

I spoke with the contracted Rapidan Dam Surveyor on Thursday and he states the controls are being planned further up the river. Nothing to do but wait for mother nature currently.

Anything they attempt to do would just be washed away instantly. They’ll likely wait until the flooding is over and use part of the erosion as the base for a diversion channel while they do repairs. The force of water is no joke. Check out the Colorado River flood of 1983.

0:23 mere HOURS before the the riverbank cut away completely taking out the house (edit, thanks JennCat) next to the iconic store known for its pies. 1:25 RIP (Pepper Jack) and the iconic Dam Store (Family Home), both lost to the torrent of Mother Nature 🫡
