The RANE ONE is an awesome controller! But its not for all djs. My thoughts on this controller.

Музыка

Hey guys i just got this Rane One controller and im having so much fun playing around with it. Its so intuitive and scratching feels so natural on it. With that being said this controller is not for every dj. Watch the video and see my train of thought. Is this an upgrade or a total overhaul lol. Thanks for watching fam! Until next time....

The Rane one has dedicated buttons for the horn or whatever sound effects you want to use, that’s what the sampler is for. The sound quality and build is much better than pioneer, most DJs just get pioneer because all the clubs have it, but that doesn’t make pioneer good.

Thank you! Finally, someone addressed "who it is for". I am a house DJ and have been researching the Rane One vs Pioneer 1000st trying to get the question answered. I play some hip hop but not to the extent I need the Rane One. Like you said... if anything it could mess up your transitions if you nudge it. Saved me $300! Thanks for the video! I currently have a Pioneer SX2, and one of the channels is starting to act up. Got about 6 years out of that controller, so not bad. So it’s time to up grade. Was weighing between the Rane or the DDJ1000SRT. I’m not a scratching DJ. Love to just beat match and add a few effects here and there. After watching this video and seeing how cool the Rane controller is, I think I’m going to go with the Pioneer. It’s closer to the controller I have and I love the onboard effects. Now if the stores could just get them back in stock, I’d be set! Thanks again!

I was close to getting the 1000srt before this came out. The motorized platters and soundcard sold me over the 1000. The lack of on board fx was a super bummer at the price point. Rane should let us send the Ones back in to have on board fx added. Outside of that. I LOVE the Rane One. And I am not an OG DJ at all. I just like the way it feels when I play. And it is aesthetically pleasing to my clients... they too like feeling like they have a turntable dj. I upgraded from a DDJ SR2 which was my first controller. I actually loved that as well which is why I was going to go to the SX or 1000srt but I really love the build quality and overall product of the Rane One. Do I wish it was the same price as a 1000? Yes. I do feel like I over paid, but I am still very satisfied with what I got. Some pioneer gear just feels way too much like a toy in comparison. The rev7 is interesting. But since its also only 2 channel. I would essentially be paying up for on board fx and thats just not quite worth it. COME ONE RANE!!! COME OUT WITH AN UPGRADED ON BOARD FX version of the Rane One and I trade up in an INSTANT.

I’ve had the Rane One for a five months now,, My only reason for getting it was that I use Algoriddim DJay AI program with my iPad and this was the best controller that ticked all the boxes.. I’m not a turntablist or scratch Dj and mainly just mix music but the Neural Mix feature was a game changer for me and I was able to midi map it to suit my needs as well as converting it to a make shift 4 channel controller using the 2 Mic channels..It’s not the most ideal way of doing it but it does work somewhat.. Also the ability to use it with an iPad makes it more portable as well.

Agreed. I have experienced a few issue with switching between the two where the controller would control both sides. Apparently there is a trick I have not learned yet. I got the Rane One as a replacement for my NS7II and I miss the capacitive touch controls on the EQ. I used to use those a lot. My other gripe is that the up faders are not upgradeable and they are rather tight. …. I think the price is good compared to running with a full Twelve setup. My biggest issue was how long it took to get it with the supply chain issues (Ordered in January and received in May). I ended up with two and flipped the second while it was in high demand. … All in all I am going to stick with it until I get advanced with scratching.

I use the DDJ SR2 controller for my mobile gigs but us turntables when streaming at home.. recently I was looking to upgrade and my choices were the DDJ 1000, DDJ 1000SRT or the Rane One.. I ordered the Rane One because I didn't want to wait 6 months for the DDJ 1000SRT (its on backorder on zZounds until the summer), so once I get the Rane I will see if it is as good as advertised.. The lack of onboard efx is a sticking point but I'm hoping there will be a firmware update that will allow you to add them (hopefully I won't have to buy a new controller), but I the end that seems to be the only issue for me.. Hopefully you are still monitoring this post. I have been at this a very long time ! Technics SL1200 MK II's 6 channel Stanton vestax mixer with sampler. I did add the original version of Serato. What is your take on serato? The new version seems to be much better. Vs Virtual DJ? or Tractor. I would like to have the flexibility to push a pad to switch my scratch bank. I like the tools in virtual DJ separating Vocals and beats I can always use the software to create my own tracks to mix later .For live performances I used to run one channel with beats and drop the mixes live and scratching live. It was like using 3 decks with only 2. So do I keep the turntables and get a controller with all of the mixer features or just step into the rane one? Not worrieed about weight. Also still using time coded vinyl and stanton 680 EL cartridges. Would like to lose the needles Thanx, Chance

  • @DjNinesworld

    @DjNinesworld

    2 жыл бұрын

Hey Chance thanks for the comment. Serato DJ pro is far more stable now compared to Scratch Live or even Itch(the later versions). I use Serato DJ pro because i started out on it and am used to it honestly but i can't deny the stems tool on Virtual dj is a game changer and i would like to give that a try sometime. In a lot of ways Virtual Dj has a couple of more innovations than serato and i can see why a lot of djs swear by it. Now if your used to using turntables and would like to give the Rane ONE a try you won't be disappointed as it will feel like your turntable setup just in a smaller package. Theres also another route you could go and you won't need to sell anything. You need to look into the PHASE DJ SYSTEM which eliminates your needles and your tonearms completely and turns your tables into one big controller. I have a video of the system here and before it was unreliable with a lot of problems but now it is a solid system and most if not all djs swear by it now including myself kzread.info/dash/bejne/pnx93JKud7mueZc.html You will need to get the Phase system and a mixer with Serato Dj pro built in to use it properly since they are now integrated together. So you have options buds. Take it easy and let me know which route you take. Thanks for watching!

I know what you mean. The Rane ONE is pretty stiff at first and you need to get used to cutting on it. You can also adjust the fader too if you want but you have to do this manually. The platters on the other hand are just really stiff and i noticed you can't backspin it properly without putting constant pressure on it. I don't think there is a way to adjust the actual tension on the platters.

I think your comment on being outside. Not that many people are outside DJing and the worst thing you want to be is in the sun with your gear having the Sun bead down on your equipment. Now if you're DJing a wedding, a club or inside event those lights are perfect and that's more of the direction that they're going with. I've been in this game since 1983 and I consider myself a versatile DJ with different styles mixing scratching, house and hip hop. I agree with your comments,. Just my 2 cents... pioneer sucks, only the top line battle mixers are good (I like the workflow of pioneer mixers). But the rest, industry standard sucks. CDJs are polular, because at the beginning of the massive edm, electronic era most of the djs could not mix well on vinyl, its too difficult. So cdjs with mixer companion, easy. You can do everything with a cheap dj controller whithout spending a lot of money and its even easier than with a pioneer controller. If you are more rap versed and like scratching its cheaper to buy 2 turntables and a mixer (dvs or not), than a rane one. But i agree that the rane one is good because of the portability . Everybody talks about the internal pioneer fx but in reality its not something thats too important, serato, rekordbox and traktor fx are good enough for everything, even in clubs or festivals. Hate the industry standard but i have to work with that. Im old and still hoping that the clubs turn again to turntables (i know its not possible), so we can hear better djs (nobody speaks the truth nowadays, its a no no, because you can hurt feelings). I dont wannt to hear perfect mixes, i wannt to hear art. Only for opening your eyes, watch this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eaGNzauIobmyk7w.html One side, we have qbert and the other side ean golden. qbert is art, product of years ot training. I know that you mean when blending house/edm tracks. I came from the Pioneer SX series and wanted to upgrade with these. The SX’s jog wheels are much easier to blend with because the “throws” are less. The Rane one’s platter movements are more spaced out meaning it takes a bit more work to blend two tracks together. But, using the pitch bend buttons does help. Otherwise for scratching, juggling stabs, this thing is excellent. I wish Rane or Serato would make the platter movements adjustable. If that makes any sense.

why do all controllers have the pads below the platter instead of above? especially if its a spinning platter model thats most likely marketed at DJs coming from turntables! that makes no sense to me. put the damn pads above the platter!

I know the numark MIXTRACK pro 2 has the pads above the jog wheels. Not sure about any other controller out there with pads above the platters though… They should make more though I agree with you👍

Great review! However, I disagree. Mixing is really fun even if you don't scratch. If you ever wanted to try turntables but don't want to spend $1400+ on a mixer, this is the device for you.

True. I have the Rane one. Its not just for scratching. You can actually mix, blend, juggle etc.. I bought this because this controller is the closest to a real turntable. And i scratch a lot. But i do mix and dj parties. Its perfect. Dont need 4 channels and fx. It does the job. And it gets me paid to do parties

I got a question? I'm 51 years old and I come from the era of direct drive turntables and is thinking about getting back into djing, do you think I would like a ddj controller with motorized platters or the jog wheels? I never have used jog wheels so I'm asking for some legit advice on motorized platters VS jog wheels.

Bro, TRUST me the build quality of the One is TRASH. It's not the same Made in USA Rane. They are skimping out on motherboard quality, EQ pot quality, upfaders, galvanized screws on the faceplate, the effect paddles deserve a lawsuit they're so flawed from an engineering level, etc. On my second one in two years and I baby the shit out of it and it still breaks and glitches out. Not professional grade at all
