PFF had him as the 2nd best rookie QB of 23 season....behind CJ Stroud. Ahead of Will Levis(3rd) and well above Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson. Teams need to learn from 49ers and give late round QBs a chance.

4th best and his numbers weren't good. 11 games (10 started). 12 (+1 rushing TD) TDs, 7 INTs and 4 fumbles. Remember his 4 TDs against the Chargers? Take those away and he had 8 TDs the other 10 games he played.

Raider Nation since 1967: Not really worried about the quarterback position. The Key to Our Success this year is the effectiveness of the running game.

I'm all about Gard Dogg. Rejected, lived in a prison bus, down to box the defensive players, had fun with Maxx Crosby's intensity. He works with an Antonio Pierce, Maxx Crosby lead team. I get it, Gardner isn't the best qb in the league, but he is the perfect Raider qb.

It's going to be Minshew. Dude is an underrated baller with a chip on his shoulder and plays exceedingly well in 12 personnel and when that is taken into account, it starts to make sense with what they did in the draft. It makes all the sense in the world that they went out and got Minshew SPECIFICALLY and then drafted Bowers to pair with Mayer.

3 NFL team's coaching staff have traded away Minshew after 1 year or so on each team, he's on his 4th team now at 27 years old. There's a reason no team has kept him as their starter. We have the cap space to pay for a decent backup QB and that's what we are doing with Minshew. If we are going by stats, AOC had a bit over 2,200 passing yards (even with the KC and Vikings game) , that's half of Strouds passing yards for playing half the season. Everyone has a bad first impression from the Chargers game that McDummy set him up to fail (39 pass plays called for his 1st game!?!). We know what Minshews ceiling is, we don't truly know AOC's potential with a full summer camp and improved coaching staff.

Minshew has never had weapons like he has with Raiders. Give the guy 6 games and let’s see if his college career was a fluke.

I watched Minshew on the Max Crosby podcast having known nothing about him and I've got to say I like the kid. He's a surfer hippie free spirit type but I just hope he can distribute the ball to our stars. We've got an amazing potential tight end tandem with one of the top receivers in the league

Pretty sure coach trust his defense and is pretty comfortable with either guy at QB to get us 11-12 wins. I believe in our defense also. But I do believe in both QBs. Seen a lot of potential in both

I believe in aoc, even though he didn’t ball out like cj shroud but cj is also the first round first overall pick while aoc was easily the second best rookie qb that year and was a fourth rounder. Even if aoc shits the bed we wisely signed one of the most experienced journey man qb who still has something to prove. Minshew balled out last year and can help mentor aoc or any qb we bring in next.

Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson both won a Super Bowl. I think it is fair to say a whole year of O'Connell with one offense and one coach along with an entire off season of work and first team reps will see better results. Minshew has the occasional moments of that moxie where he seems brilliant. And some moments that are head scratchers. Can either of them have a shot of winning the big game? Why not?

I'm very confident with the two quarterbacks that the Raiders have, I am excited that the Raiders drafted and offensive line to support our young quarterbacks to help them throw more touchdowns.

I like me Minshew with this team honestly.. he’s better than advertised and with the line and weapons we have he can have a good season and help us into the playoffs. I could honestly see Gardner having a Jared Goff like career revival!

I disagree with the idea Garappolo was benched because of his injury guarantees. That was why he was put as the emergency qb. He was benched bc AOC was better than him. The stats back that up.

So.... You remember how people hated on derek carr even though he had a shitty situation... Same thing happening again. " Genius " josh first... Then after NO starting reps thrown into the fire. With no LEGIT OC and a sub oar.rishing attack until the last few games... Oh and let's not forget about the oline play without Kolton Miller. AOC threw a great deep ball when asked to... I believe it was more on the coaches after Mc"Genius". AOCs college highlights show he can throw deep, scramble and throw on the run...oh and ran a fast 40 time than mahomes. QBs flourish when they are put into a winning situation with stability. Let AOC cook.

AP told us all along that Aiden is QB1 going into camp and will keep it unless someone beats him. AP isn’t a smoke and mirrors guy, he is straightforward. He and Telesco aren’t gonna get guys that don’t have a raider mentality like Wilson.

I gotta say, it's getting old hearing the Telesco didn't trade up. It takes two to make a trade, and if a team isn't willing to trade on a fair deal, then no, you don't trade. They can't force a team to trade, and you don't give away everything. If Washington or New England were willing to trade and it not be insane for what they were asking for, then a trade would've gotten done, period! Now, looking at Minshew's career stats and AOC's last year numbers, they are very similar. The problem is Minshew has that experience and should be a better QB than he is. Also, EVERYONE seems to keep sleeping on Anthony Brown like he can't play. He is a dual threat QB that was Lamar Jackson's backup. He has just as much of a chance as the other two at winning the starting job! And he has a cannon arm as well.

@Fenestration526 The guys showed he can ball and if our O-line is going to look like this: LT Miller LG Parham C James RG Powers Johnson RT Mumford ( I think he's a better fit than the rookie Glaze). Plus, with the weapons, the Raiders do have. I think he is a dark horse candidate to start. He can run. He has a cannon, and he isn't horrible with accuracy, but it can improve. In the right system with the right coaching. And free to play his style of football, I think he can shine. Plus, no one is clearly even giving him a chance. Not even a sniff.

Its funny, how Raiders fan talk about how good we drafted and the reality is they dont want to mention or forgot AP and Telesco talked about being aggressive for a QB on the draft. So it doesnt matter how good the draft goes because Raiders have a history of Drafting talent and not having good luck with getting a QB or not getting a QB at all so we end up with the same result. No playoff. Because history shows, you can have all the talent but no QB and we wont go nowhere. NO team does. Look at the Vikings, Beat WR decent Running RB but No QB. CHEIFS, have no WR a good TE and they go to the bowl. So in closing, Raiders at the least could have taken Rattler or Jordan Travis because that means at least we made an attempt to get a QB that has been shown to have some upside and we never know how well they will do. Mr Irrelevant sound familiar. Raiders decide to take a LB vs Rattler or Travis. So now we enter the 2024 season with 2 back ups. Tho, this video made me see Minshew in a different light. So lets go Minshew!

Minshew was great against the Eagles first opponent the jets. Many fans and executives seemed to be upset. Build around Minshew and win the Super Bowl. Seems the real problem is inexperienced Coach's in the Offensive Coordinator, etc.

Minshew has so much more upside. It would suprise me to see O'Connell start over him.

Jimmy G and Hoyer went 3-5 last year. AOC, a 4th round rookie went 5-5 including some big wins, he's calm and poised in the big games. Look at Josh Allens rookie season, 5-6 with a 10:12 TD:INT ratio, we can't write AOC off after one season in an awful situation.

I'm not a delusional Raiders fan, but imho they have to do things this way. Make it sound and look like it's a healthy competition that way AOC doesn't lose any confidence when they make Minshew the starter. We all know, as I'm sure he does, that he needs to grow a little and gain experience. Minshew is more than capable of moving the team forward until AOC is where they need him to be. I'm expecting the Chargers or the Raiders to knock KC out that no.1 spot this year. Of course, I hope and expect that every year so wtf do I know.

The Buccaneers won a Super bowl with Brad Johnson under center. The Ravens won a Super bowl with Trent Dilfer as their QB. They both had a defense that was lights out. Like the Raiders. Anything is possible over the summer.

Jimmy G should have played a few more games last 2023-2024 season. I would go with Minshew first. See what he can do. Maybe Raiders should have looked for QB in the second Round of the 2024 Draft.

Who is Troy Aikman? 1-15 his 1st year. Does that mean he was terrible? The vast majority of starters need time to adjust and catch theiy're breath. Will be very intereting to see how AOC4 matures in year 2. O'Connell earned the starting job and will stay #1 until he fails and falls behind in training camp. I see O'Connell growing, learning faster and being able to keep his poise. Players trust him...Minshew is a career backup and not the answer short term or long term.
