The Race To Build The World's First Floating Megacity
the prevailing strategy in many nations grappling with rising sea levels is to resist natural forces by constructing barriers to impede the encroaching ocean. But a recent change in perspective has prompted some enterprises to cooperate with Mother Nature rather than opposing her. Consequently, the concept of floating cities garnered widespread interest, with numerous countries actively exploring it. Three nations have emerged as pioneers in constructing floating cities from scratch. All three assert that their respective endeavours represent the world's first sustainable floating cities.

Everyone knows that floating cities are the future of humanity. That is why there are so many floating cities in the world. What could possibly go wrong?

If the Hexagenal and Maldives projects reduced the size of each hex/unit and then tethered each hex/unit to the sea floor independently with a wind/unwind generator producing power each time the hex/unit raises and sinks with the tides and waves. Thanks, very informative.

A normal person would just use biomass to increase the height of a land and quit trying to hold back water when you no good at it

With over 8 billion of us, the bandwidth and resources exist to run many experimental solutions. I'm personally curious to know what sort of technologies would open up the ocean floor for human habitation since a couple of kilometres of water offer protection from certain classes of extinction-level events.

I hope the caissons are at least double hulled and shaped to dissipate storm energy. Since tsunami waves grow larger as they approach shallow water, might it be safer to locate them in the open sea?

Wouldn't big waves pose a potential to break these apart?

Have any of you ever experienced even just a thunderstorm while out on the open ocean?!? If so, then u are well aware of the power of the sea. Nothing we are capable of building stands a chance out there permanently.

I don't get reason for it. There is plenty empty land on earth and bad cities we can improve.

You use the image of N-ARC's design, but don't talk about Dogen City? Lame.
