The Quint: Love Dogs, Not Breeds: Indie Dogs Are Just as Loving as Pedigrees
Dogs are man’s best friends, but in India Indie dogs or dogs indegenous to the country find themselves being scornfully treated by humans. Although there are around nine known varieties of Indies, they are the least preferred breed in India when it comes to pets.

3 outstanding qualities of Indian dog : 1. Perfectly adapted to Indian weather with strong immune systems and no physical defects whatsoever. 2. Highly intelligent and social, smart enough to make out what's going on in their surroundings. 3 They treat us like humans even when most of us treat them like animals.

I've had indies since I was a kid. My family never bought a so called 'good breed'. We've had plenty of Indies and I can assure you, they're the most lovable, intelligent and social dogs. They've always loved us unconditionally. I always used to wonder as a kid, if we have so many dogs abandoned on the streets 😔 then why do dog lovers not adopt them instead of buying foreign dogs at hefty prices.
my street dogs are Olaf,Tony ,percy,bola,fauji,fantom,bhola...they are all amazingly intelligent n loving.

Exactly.. but we Indians are always after Western things, cultures, lifestyle, etc.. when will we become intelligent and start appreciating what God has given us?? They were born in India bcoz this weather suits them.
My dog is an Indian Pariah Dog. She is good looking, smart, loving, caring, very intelligent and has a strong immune system. I am very much satisfied. She is well trained and well groomed by me.. My all time companion at home.
Planning to adopt a street dog from my locality I'm excited my parents are half convinced 🤗

I have also Indie 🐕 Dog and he is very cute .... I love him soooo much
I brought Murphy home from an animal shelter on 2nd October. Her mother had died when he was a small pup and they gave him great care for 1.5 months and finally put him up for adoption. He is such a character though.😂 He is one hell of a quick learner. It is one of the best decisions I have taken in my life.
I am from Kerala and I have an Indian Pariah Dog called Toby. Most of the people in my locality owns indie dogs. They make really good pets!
A small puppy came to my house in a rainy day. It was starving and I could see all its bones. I have asma and family do not like dogs, like any typical Indian family they thought about throwing the dog away for it to starve and die(because it is a street dog). I vehemently opposed it, took to the nearest govt vet. Took the required injection, now she is a happy puppy. The best thing ever happened to me.

I adopted 5 indie puppies from a street dog mother. And they are adorable
I am surprised that why this amazing video have such low views.
I have a desi dog. he is no extra expense to us. We only have to give him his annual vaccinations. eats what we eat. meat is not compulsory though non veg is his favourite. he is good with rice mixed with vegetables. he even eats raw carrots and corn. no tantrums. he follows Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with us. also Shravan, Ganpati..... he follows our command and understands what we tell him. when we dress up he knows that we are going out. he is just like a human being to us and as smart as a human being. his lovely story with us below.... He was an injured puppy when I first saw him. Just like any other dog / animal lover I was concerned seeing him rome around in my society with one leg broken and with open wound. I fed him milk and then he left. He was in the society for few days luckily no one hurt him anymore. He kept coming outside my house limping every now and then and I would feed him milk / biscuits. One day my dad (dog lover) saw him and said that he is wounded and we must treat him. I thought he was talking about doctor but he said we should apply turmeric on his wound. my dad being old school but knew exactly what needed to be done. he told me to apply turmeric and I got scared. We had been introduced to each other only for two days or so and that too I would just give him milk and biscuits. so i refused saying that he'll bite me. so dad told me to get turmeric and he held the 2-3 months old pup and applied turmeric. he didn't bite. he just cried in pain because the turmeric itches and ran to the other end of the corridor. I cried to dad that he will not come back now. but to my surprise he kept running in corridor and came back in a minute. I got confidence that day and next day onwards I started to apply turmeric on his wound. my dad who believed in ayurveda and learnt everything from his experiences told me that God has blessed every being with special qualities and animals like dog for example lick their wounds and that is how they cure themselves, except if they are hurt on areas where they cannot lick like head it is a risk to their life. my dad had then told me that dogs are man's best friends. a human can betray you but not animals be it dog or horse or cow...... he gave me examples from our mythology and kings. few days passed and he was in good shape. his wound was now heeling. though he was still limping. however weeks passed by and he continued to sleep in corridor outside my house. one day dad asked me if I wanted to own / pet him. I was flying because that is what I always wanted but my mother refused saying that it is a huge responsibilty and must not be considered as fun.....we are a nuclear family live in a small house who will take care of him. who will feed him daily in time and who will take him for susu - potty (sorry for the language) while I was on work. very excitedly I told her I'll do everything and my dad honoured my wish and we took him in. this is how I got my first ever pet. I must tell you that many people are conscious about the breed. honestly I never thought about it and I don't think my parents either. not because of money but it simply dint occur to us. for us he was this cute little pup who used to follow me everywhere curiously, shaking his tiny tail. In less than three months I guess, he recovered completely, even his broken leg. he can walk and run on all four legs of his. Once we took him home for safety and as per guidelines we called doctor and examined him. trust me guys he is my stress buster. my mother who was not very keen on taking him home now cannot live without him and vice versa. you won't believe that my dear Sangeet yes that is what we have named him 'Sangeet', cries out loud that when my mother steps out of house. so much so that everyone in our society Comes to know that my mother has gone out.

Really happy after reading the comments that u all have adopted or rescued Indies .. I too have two Indies❤️❤️❤️
I'm having a "desi" dog, and her name is 'Maina' . p.s - I wish we all could post pictures of our dogs in the comment section
I have four of them. One dog and three butches staying with us like our family members
I have an indie, offspring of an indie which was adopted by my aunt. His mother is very lovable and gentle . My dog is also the same. Hardly barks, very friendly to all dogs and humans alike. He was able to learn simple commands like sit, handshake and lie down. He often got sick when he was small. And I was worried he might pass away. But he's such a fighter and now he's a healthy 2 year old. I wish more people would appreciate and adopt indie dogs.
I had Tiku. I miss him.
We adopt three adorable Desi dog .they r so cute and innocent.....
Indies r awesome😍😍😍😍...I've always had indies....they r super tuff...if kept well ,hardly get sick ....& complete sweethearts
Right, right, absolutely right. They need our attention. We need to stop elite dog trading.
But people treat you with very low esteem if u own a stray dog🧐🧐🧐😨but who cares I have adopted one and named him oscar 🥰🥰he is very adorable and loving

That is our perception. Inside they feel happy, they don't say outside.
I have my Indie stray. His name is chimpu🥰 He's super intelligent and learnt to give handshake just in 2 gos. Our indies are the best.
Please do a video about human adoptions as well in same lines .. 🙋🏻♀️..many of millenials want to adopt but the elders in the house keep holding them back ..
Humare to bohat dog he bt 4 dog adopted hai baki sabko feed karate he n care karte he
Remember every dog is different i feed a bunch of stray dogs and i am more emotionally connected with some of them they all are happy to see me just some express there love more than others
sister great speech. save street dogs
My pariah dog is very playful and innocent 😭😍❤ i will adopt more... Currently have onlyy 1 desi dog.. he's so intelligent and senses human emotions and knows how to get his demands met ! (Naughty but cute indie dogs 😘😘)
Indians have made our dogs homeless for other breeds not aboriginal to India. Unfortunately most Indians find it funny if they are told to adopt dogs over buying them like a product which has the imported tag. I hope Indians will forgo their fascination and bring home our very brave and wise Indian dogs.
Indie dogs are better companions than most, if not all, pedigree dogs. They are the perfect blend of energy, health and cuddle.
Pet industry is one of the most cruel industry! Whoever loves a dog/cat will never go for buying one when there are so many orphans all around us already! People buying expensive breeds want a showpiece just, will they ever treat it like a life, let alone like a person!
Exactly 💯.... I am a happy and satisfied owner of one such
Wow .. very good initiative for dog lovers like me . Can u make a small video of what are the rules are for street dogs . Many of nabours keep fighting with us for feeding street dogs ..

Thanks for the valuable video
I have a three year old desi dog ,adopted him at 3 months .very intelligent we love him a lot he love us back
Can't show you. But they can also be service dogs. I am currently living at the ridge line of a forest. I have Indian dogs which confronts wild boar from front. Though he is quite muscular than the regular sized dogs.
Was able to toilet train an indie 2 month pup in 2 days. With a pug pup which was 5 months old, it was a disaster. It would pee on the sofa and the bean bag. Indies are super intelligent.
Amen! We have a staffy mix that's amazing! She's adorable and affectionate and is great at testing toys.
Really beautiful dogs,greetings from Iraq.
We need more people who understand the pain of stray animals
My son adopted one in India a few years back and she is now living in Seattle as my son's family moved from India...
I have golu in my house,I never regreted of doing so,indie dogs are the best for being a pet,he is also well trained,he even responds to me much quickly than any dog would have done, adopt indie dogs and do some good.
❤️❤️❤️We have an indie dog!
I have one indie dog and going to adopt second. If you are really dog lover adopt dog not breed.
I have 4 street dogs and there 7 puppy's. They are my life ❤️
Very nice, people should change their opinion about our street dogs, they should be preferably adopted and they value love the most.Tgey are very loyal.
Always with you
Dost kharide nahi, banaye jate hai💝🐾
I wish everyone would understand this. I've never had a dog but always fed stray dogs, believe me,they give you a lot of happiness, please adopt, go for indies, and please don't shop
I love Desi dogs 🐕😌😌😌
Just adopted 1 month indie...love him
ya agree a animal lover will love all dogs not any breed
My Goldy is a desi and he is no less than the other pedigreed dogs of my colony. In fact he's better than them in so many aspects.
Since my childhood our family have had like 4-5 indie dogs, both male females at different times, lifted mostly from streets .... all i can say is they are as good as those foreign breeds in every aspects and they don't need absolutely any medical assistance throughout their life span whatsoever.... and more over their wounds and other diseases heals magically fast !
I feed 8 stray dogs of my street on a daily basis with chicken waste and rice at night

What waste
I had a bull mastiff for approx 9 years....and in these 9 years i realized that that such breeds are not meant for india.... They cannot tolerate summer heat, they will have very bad odor during rainy season, and every year he use to get infected with mites. And in his last few months his leg got infected and he developed a tumor in his lungs. So we had to put him down in january 2021. Which is a very sad momemt as he was euthanized right in my arms.
Forget exotic breeds, our common dogs are the cutest
Great educational video! Thanks. I'll go to the extent of saying that given the correct 'environment', an indie rescued from the street is as good, if not better, than any of the 'bred' dogs people pay money to 'buy', knowingly or unknowingly promoting 'puppy mills'. In India, the way foreign breeds are 'bred' is 'mostly extremely inhumane'. I've personally seen this with multiple so called 'breeders'...99% of them are running nothing but puppy mills. That's all the more reason to shun buying foreign dog breeds in India... it'll be good for those breeds.
This is one of those videos in which you gotta agree with the quint. 😃
Hm indie Dogs ko konsi vaccine lgaye please reply ek to rabies ki pr dusri konsi lgani chiye ya bs rabies vali s kaam chleg
I would like to adopt one but there is one issue how do I take a dog to another county without giving it further trauma
Nice to watching thanksgiving
They are very cute and reliable, you leave them 10kms away from your home, they will return back.
Indian Pariah is one the best.... Friendly, calm, curious, intelligent and loving...
adopted the sweetest indie dog, im the the proudest mom ever
Peoples spend so much money for breeds and calling themselves as pet lovers but treats strays very poorly stop buying pets adopt stray puppies and give them a family every dog is loyal

Excellent 👍 great
Yes yes the girl is pretty 😁 and rest the dogs are allthe same
Some sources mention that indies need a lot of exercise. What is the minimum that an average indie needs if it's living in a 3bhk house? And also how is their temperament with small children? Thanks!
