Yeah Microsoft's stance on VR is just insane... the Flight Sim community had to fight to get them to include VR in their last MSFS installment. They are SO blind. One of the features of the game is "bush trips" where you navigate a path using word directions. I ONLY play that mode in VR, because it's immersive and it's all super doable for me.

Even with VR included you need to be pretty savvy to get it to run well. I'm on a 4070 and I have to do mad science to get solid FPS in any kind of populated areas while my GPU sits with a big chunk unused. May be time to upgrade the 5600X just to buy myself a bit more CPU headroom honestly.

@@Thezuule1 Xbox, more than likely sells MUCH more software pre unit VS the quest. So the total profit is better then on quest.

on the topic of Xbox and VR, the Xbox using a windows kernel means that it would take very little from microosft to AT LEAST support windows mixed reality headsets, I mean the drivers are already there, its just a matter of actually letting the kernel detect the headset and apply the needed drivers

WMR is completely dead, there's no more updates for it so that's not happening. Also WMR was a terrible software anyway if you preferred using SteamVR. Maybe if they make their own directory that's able to connect WMR headsets to the console that would be fine but dear lord, actual WMR can fuck off. Seriously.

I would love to have a fresh vr ip from a large company like that, or even a halo vr game, I just want a high quality vr game with polish and shine, a lot of vr games have quite a bit of jankiness to them because it’s a new medium, but I believe that a large company like Microsoft could offer great competition or collaboration to meta and greatly improve the market

Ad for Manscape is not going to cause any harm, because everyone does that and we already know it's just a brand with a lot of money for marketing, but we dont really have to buy their stuff. Imagine that brands contact Thrill to make him make a sponsored video on headset accesory or vr headset or vr game or anything vr related. Most of the people wouldnt get that Thrill got paid to say that everything about the product is perfect, many people would believe him, because we trust him that he knows what he talks about.

Makes sense. The Quest 3 isn't going to benefit from COVID sales, and along with it's price-tag, it's looking at a much smaller adoption rate. Developers can't afford to release Quest 3 exclusive titles (unless Meta pays for the development).

The Tea for God gameplay makes me feel so nostalgic for the early VR era.

That origami floor tech, if that can be durabilised and built into a slide mill shoe for something like the virtuix omni or katwalk mini, that could really increase the immersion of walking around in VR.

Recently I've read that while Quests are sold, sure, most of the people who bought them don't use them regularly, therefore they are less likely to spend money on games/season passes/microtransactions and therefore the revenue is way smaller than on a regular concole

yeah I bought a quest 2 but mainly use it for PCVR (and rarely use it for that lately) bought a handful of stand alone games when I first got it but that's about it. with no profit margin on the headset that's not really a sustainable business model...

if more quality games start get to the vr or maked vr probably get more used since potential is there waiting. example half life:alyx if they refuse potential probably losed. this is really onto the us consumers ı hope more game daves get to the vr and create fun and quality games. and with upcoming quest 3 even more things can be happen by the way one day ı want buy a vr headset too

@@thedoomslayer5863 only the best racing game ever XD it's pretty old by now (2015 IIRC) but modders have updated and expanded on it for years now, name pretty much any car or track and you can drive it.

When will laying down mode come out of the public testing? I really want to use it!

Cant wait for the quest 3. Once I started using VR. I gave up on gaming consoles. And got a PC can mod my games anyway I want as long as there is EAC. I was holding out for the xbox series x to get VR but it never happened

V55 will help out a lot with Tabor. There has been a lot of frame issues.

Absolutely love "Tea for God" the game you used for b-roll. Was one of the first few VR games I ever played and it's still up there as one of the more unique uses of irl locomotion in a VR game. I feel worn out playing that in a way I don't get with the likes of Boneworks or B&S.

the first ones in a genre or even a type of gaming (flatscreen vs vr), are the lifechanging ones.

I wonder how much more life the batteries have on some of the first release units of the Quest 2. Virtual desktop has had the option to be able to overclock the CPU for quite a while now, and boy does it chew through the battery.

5:13 as someone with 2 minor lazy eyes, the vr headset is very similar to the way glasses sit on ur face to train ur eyes not to drift off. I can say i can focus on objects faster without double vision just few months in the headset.

I am planning to get into standalone VR gaming, should I get the Quest 2 and get quality of experience addons (Which?) or save a bit extra and wait for Quest 3.

Along with Virtual Desktop wireless update and this update, makes a big boost in performance for PCVR users.

What are your thoughts on pass through app’s possibly becoming more mainstream for farming and productivity onexe the quest 3 releases (QOTW)

@@camronthackeray9654 nah, not 11 years. I'll say 1 year 2 max. There are a LARGE number of discord that are purely focused on making older games VR compatible. Do some searching and you'll be surprised what's supported. It's often janky but anyone willing to dig into it is used to VR jank.

The VR mode will be an insultingly shit separate full price release that modders will eventually make almost acceptable but not really.

I'm getting an oculus 2 for my birthday coming up in like a week and I'm actually happy that im gonna see vr when it just had a update

I got the update on Quest 2 and I have to say that it was noticeably a little smoother when I played some Beat Saber my only complaint is WHERE IS MY BED. The VR couch disappeared and I can't find guardian/boundary setting to put it back. Do I have to do the experimental and kinda buggy room setup feature just so I can chill on my bed while in VR?

Quest 2 + VD + PC is kinda best option right now. Its true wireless, high resolution, high quality. Slime VR if you into wireless FBT. I dont think Quest 3 will change this. Maybe invest into better PC if that's the case?

I just bought an index kit since i can re-use the controllers/base stations, and the HMD can tide me over until the Bigscreen beyond comes out. However that may be beyond your budget, you may want to consider a G2V2, especially if you are doing flight sims, the audio is excellent since it uses the index speakers.

Is there any way to set it up to where you answer a message/call from messanger in game?

Thanks for the video. I hope Meta will follow Apple and keep improving the simplicity and efficiency fo its UIs, making VR as natural as possible. The added power may help.

In a couple of years quest 4 might appear , so you can keep your 2 if you want to! Quest 1 was highly underpowered.. hopefully it doesn't happen as soon with the quest 2

I want to mention something about your xbox comment (11:21), it makes sense as the problem doesn't stand on the units sold, but on the players who actually buy games there. out of all the people who bought the quest 2, they mostly bought a maximum of 10 games on the platform, as on xbox, a console player will usually buy more. idk if it makes sense but here is not about the peripheral itself but more about what happens after in MY opinion tho, I think VR and consoles should mix together in a different way. the great part about the quest 2 is that you can go full PCVR and basically, when you will have a better hardware on your pc, the headset will 'evolve together with it', as for consoles, if you bought the PSVR for ps4, you could use it only for that console and the end. it dies there. what I think is that there mush be a way to make those headsets more compatible with their console ecosystem or sell them as totally separate stand alone consoles fully optimized for VR and that's it

i just built a new PC just for VR, 4090 and all, i bought an index kit because i am going to be able to re-use the base-stations/controllers for when the bigscreen beyond comes out, which is my real goal. i considered a pico, but i found out it uses compression (no matter how you connect it), and it also has a very slight delay (even with wired), compared to a proper DP connection, I imagine Q3 has the same issue since you cannot connect it using DP. Honestly, if i were you, i would stick with the G2 until the beyond comes out, and replace it with that.

as a person who has used quest 2 for pc vr, considering that the quest 3 has the usb c port on the hinge (which means the wires wont bend out of shape) and that the headset is lighter with optional replaceable headstrap, pancake lenses, and overall (theoretically) more comfortable. In my opinion yea. BUT PLEASE TAKE THIS OPINION WITH A GRAIN OF SALT (I could be very wrong with comfort), AND ALSO WAIT FOR REVIEWS

I have never manually updated to the newest firmware .. I don’t even get notifications… it just happens and the headset restart .. does anyone know how these firmware come about ?

Kinda agree with Xbox & understand why they haven’t supported VR. That being said I think if they did want to incorporate it they should do a collaboration with meta using the latest quest 3. That way they wouldn’t need to pay for developing their own headset & could just concentrate on games for it.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are more people trying to play Halo in Pavlov and other VR shooters than actual Halo at this point, Halo and Gears of War would be incredible to play in VR but the biggest win for them would probably be making a VR flight sim and making Forza style racing games in VR.

I don’t play much vr, what game is in the beginning?

I noticed my battery doesn't due quick now. Last update basically killed my headset since 1 hour or so of play and boom it's dead. This I went on for an hour and hardly touched my battery I also saw the resolution change in bonelabs. Lowered the graphics to stabilise it when I spawned in tons of stuff

Quest 2 + Quest Pro sales = Close to 20 million sold From those, active devices reaching 1.5 million, Meta Claims a user base of 6.37 million active users in October 2022. PSVR numbers are a fraction of those, since the prohibitive pricing. At this moment (meaning right now), VR in general has about 6k active users in the US across many games, being the top dogs: 1- Beatsaber 2- Blade&Sorcery 3- Gorilla Tag 4- Pavlov 5- HL: Alyx Meanwhile, right now in the US Xbox console has 1.2 million active users, playing: 1- Fortnite 2- COD 3- GTA 4- Minecraft Without any games that can draw attention to VR, it will always have low numbers, therefore Xbox and Microsoft evaluated and it`s not very effective to develop APKs, Hardware, and games for a platform that is barely 0.5% of their current active user base, Quest 2 can sell millions, the issue is that not a lot of people are playing constantly, and barely any AAA releases for VR, still entirely dominated by Indie devs, it`s too much of an investment seeing that Xbox already offers Gamepass. It does have potential, but VR always seems to run out of fuel somewhere, somehow, I said it before and I`ll continue saying it, we need more AA and AAA VR games to take-off and establish the platform.
