The QUEEN MOTHER lived here - walking from Whitwell to St Paul’s Walden, Hertfordshire - 4K
A circular walk from the village of Whitwell to St Paul’s Walden Hertfordshire.
On the walk, we pass over the River Mimram, before making our way up into woodland behind St Paul’s Walden Bury, the childhood home of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, The Queen Mother. Being early May, there are bluebells in abundance!
Emerging from the woods, we make our way along a lane in the direction of All Saints Church - The Queen Mother was baptised here.
Heading back towards Whitwell, we pass by the front of St Paul’s Walden Bury, before heading back towards the woods. There are great views of the surrounding Chiltern countryside and Whitwell below. We finish our walk descending back into the village.

Pretty place, I have a friend who lives there
I envy you as in your journey to St Paul’s Walden and from Whitwell, you've captured the beautiful, spring Hertfordshire countryside on a lovely, sunny day. It's not hard to see why the Queen Mother had an abiding affection for that part of England. A lovely video!
