Note to interviewers: When you have three of the funniest, smartest people sitting in front of you, don't try to be funny. Leave that to the professionals.

Yep, they were my favourite bits.

I think what makes them so overwhelmingly funny in an interview format is that you only need one of them to come up with something at a given moment, and the others will roll with it. The fact that one of them ALWAYS has something at a given moment shows the genius, because really, how many people can come up with something funny 1/3rd of the time? Most mortals are lucky if we're funny 0.1% of the time.

lmao reminds me of the satirical Charlie Rose scene in For Your Consideration where McKean and Shearer are being interviewed and keep being interrupted by the interviewer 😂😂😂

Agreed. Some may have missed it, but when Christopher told the woman off camera she had some cupcake on her lip, Harry said it like news "This just in" and Michael looks at Harry, taps his upper lip and says "Well, ALMOST in" (referring to the piece of cupcake not making it in her mouth) is just genius comedy flowing from them a never ending fountain.

Somebody please edit this down to the 20 minutes that Tap speak, with her questions placed in subtitles. That would make this piece far more palatable.

I just love these guys, their humour is just spot on. And what a friendship between them.

Three truly towering figures, these guys. There's so much to each of them.

I like their pre Tap band the Lovely Lads.

Is there an interviewer class this interviewer can take? Where you learn not to talk over the people you're interviewing? Where you know the diffence between interviewing boring people and interesting people? They could call it interviewing 101.

This is a perfect example of the common problem of an interviewer talking too much. Let the interviewees talk!

The magic of spinal tap is their ability to riff. To bad this lady kept cutting them off

I never watched an interview where the interviewer talks more than 3 clever men combined and continually buts in. Its hard for them to relax and get their rhythm and come up with of the cuff comedy even with their talents as they feeling tense and cant get going with some short stories. I wonder how the diners eating there thought of this.

When I watch this it feels like they're putting on fake american accents.

I have that feeling too. The same when Michael McKean appeared in Better Call Saul. I guess that's a tribute to their perfect English accents in Spinal Tap.

The upload date is 2012, but the "Unwigged and Unplugged" tour was Spring 2009 and "Back From the Dead" was June 2009, so this must've been recorded Summer of 2009.

I was interested in this because I've seen the guys interviewed as Spinal Tap but never about Spinal Tap. I will have to look for another interview, since as others indicated it was rather hard to listen to this. That is, it was hard to hear the guys' answers as she kept cutting them off, and while they were talking she'd say "Uh Hunh" or laugh loudly.

"The world wide web"...now there's a name i haven't heard in a long time...

The interviewer is far too eager to interrupt. Absolutely terrible.

Love Spinal tap - but I couldn't make it through 3 minutes of this interview. That woman didn't listen, interrupted answers and seems intent on everyone listening to her more than the band. Whoever Carol Joynt is, she needs to be prevented from ever interviewing anyone ever again. just awful.

Canada has the worst case of short guy syndrome - one casual joke about Canada and Bill Nighy In A Wig spends the next 3 minutes retaliating.

The guy in the middle Michael mckeen looks like ex labour prime minister Tony Blair .

She is massively irritating.

Let the guests speak. Stop interrupting. Just when the guests get going she talks over them because she want to control the direction of the conversation. She needs some improv training.

Actually great interviewer. Get over yourselves. They aren't in character. It's a very thoughtful interview.

What a terrible interview.

Who is this old bitty? You can see how annoyed Chris is. Michael is being very gracious and Harry is somewhere in the middle. She thinks that she is so clever, but continues to state the obvious and explain references that we all know. I didn't even watch half of this because of her.

If you look at the place and the patrons of the place she's in, these are all PBS/NPR backers that have more money than sense. She is a 'local' reporter in the DC area that works for NPR and private cable radio. So it is essentially a rich bitch who funds her own professional hobby.

The interviewer is the not really an advocate for improv.

Carol Joynt would be more interesting if she was hitting a joint instead of the nerves of everyone trying to eat.

Carol - you talk too much in this interview....just ask a question and let them go. I had to stop watching...nobody cares about what you have to say or think. Just being honest.

The lady is too annoying and of course it really helped to tip things politically at the beginning because we don’t get enough of that…
