That's interesting. I never knew what the purpose of a junk journal. People would always send me journals. I used to write my prayer requests in my journal. For some reason I stopped writing. Maybe I will start again.

Wonderful!!

Love the emphasis on functionality! I have a journal where I stick things connected with a language I am learning. It's not about organising or tracking my learning (though that could also be done), but just about collecting ephemera, proverbs and sayings, quotes, cartoons, short poems, song lyrics etc in the language, along with relevant visual images - maps, calendar and diary pages, postcards etc - just about having fun in my target language. A lot of the classic jj pages - eg colour swatches - can become extra functional, if labelled in a language you are learning. There's no pressure to get things right - no-one sees it but me, and mistakes can always be corrected. Not every page has to be beautiful, but beauty emerges from the functionality.

I only have one currently and I use it to collect my favorite quotes from books or wherever I come across them. I may make another to keep notes on the books I read for my book club to aid me in the discussion at meetings

I am not a journaling person, but I have always loved and collected vintage pictures magazines articles books from the 1800s so my junk journaling is more of a collage of all of my collectibles. I have family that keeps telling me to sell them that’s not gonna happen. I love all of the vintage pictures and ephemera that I have put. Into my journals I guess they can deal with it after I’m dead
