Jay Park is actually the CEO of H1GHER music, this song is sort of like a cypher with several of the artists signed to higher music. They all are individual artists promoting under his label, but they also have compilation albums and songs. I hope you guys check out more of their music, they’re all dope! I have to recommend “How We Rock”, it’s one of my favorites from them and it really showcases their creativity!

Well, Jay Park and ph-1 are American...but nobody is a real gangster in this crew and they don’t usually rap about violence. This is KHipHop but Jay was in a Kpop group called 2pm before starting his companies. From what I’ve heard from Jay Park, this song was inspired by the movie The Purge. Anyway, you can check out all of the artists (and producers) on Jay Park’s labels (H1gher and AOMG), but you can maybe start with Sik-K, ph1, Loco and Hoody. Sadly, Golden’s contract recently expired but y’all should still check him out...He won The Voice Korea.

Also I would suggest DEAN, crush, junny, or jay park for more k r&b! there's way more than just the kpop scene or "idol" music. Just to clarify this isnt Kpop, its K Hip-hop. Kpop is aritists and groups formed and backed by entertainment companies who sing dance and rap, have atleast one comeback a year, and promote their songs on music shows. Khiphop is more like our music scene, independent rappers who join labels, have collabs and features, and just release songs whenever. There are big collaborations like this often in the Khiphop scene, and H1gher Music specifically does this a lot with the artists in the company.

Yup, it's not just about styles of music. It's also about how each industry is run/organised and promoted. And the whole trainee system of the large kpop labels is another thing that makes them different. These are English terms but they don't use those terms in the same way/to mean the same thing as in North America. All these styles and industries are, of course, heavily influenced by western music. HOWEVER, the music scene(s) in Korea is its own thing and based on totally different cultural norms and practices. Lots of times international fans don't understand the nuances...

Jay Park is the founder and CEO and is from Seattle. He started out a really good b-boy dancer before actually being leader of a popular boy group called 2pm who are seniors to almost everybody you reacted to except Big Bang. Jay actually said recently on a podcast he likes and grow inspiration from them. Moving on he went solo and never went back. Did a freestyle on Sway which went viral. Is signed to Roc Nation but still maintains his own businesses. He is also wanting to make his own boy band. Most of his songs are good because he is also a singer which he started out as.

"Are they worth pursuing individually?" YES. Each one of these artists are different in their style, flow, vibe, production, even genre occasionally. And they're all fire. Woodie gochild gets you hype everytime he spits and his energy and style are completely unmatched. Haons flow and lyricsm are indescribable everytime he does something, and he's very positive and light as opposed to what we see in rap most of the time. Sik-k is a whole vibe and he doesn't just rap he can sing too(a little lol), he uses autotune in a really creative and artistic way and he can really put you in your feelings or get you lit. Ph-1's style and voice when he raps are immediately recognizable and his music can be for anyone and everyone it all depends of what you want to listen to, he can be gentle, sad, heartwarming, or real. Big naughty sheesh, I've never heard a rap style like his before, literally. The way he does his lil whisper and articulates everything as well as his versatile style and his singing voice is everything. Trade L is very new still tbh compared to everyone else he hasn't released much solo music, he is the youngest but so so talented. His freestyles are amazing and he can rhyme really well, to check him out more you'd have to look at the red tape compilation album and his stint on high school rapper or his soundcloud mixtapes or anything from dingo. Now last but definitely not least is the amazingly talented and dualistic Jay Park, he is the CEO of independent labels h1ghr music and AOMG. He started off as an idol back in the day but had to leave bc of a scandal, so you can definitely see his dancing and singing abilites in the videos he's in with his old group 2pm. His duality is unmatched, he's worked with 100's of artists spanning from genre's like hiphop, r&b, pop, ballads/contemporary, etc. He features on so much music as well as lets others feature on his music it's insane. His style of rap and the way he spits is instantly recognizable as well as his singing voice. His range is amazing. He also does really good freestyles, they all do. He literally founded and built his companies up from the bottom, alone for the most part. And he discovered different talents all over korea and the states. He dances and b-boys too, he's in a b boy crew called art of movement, although they don't really perform anymore. Y'all should definitely look into the h1ghr music gang, and even the aomg family too.

This song, "The Purge," is literally them purging. Like the movie. Its a concept, not gangster at all. And don't worry theh never claim to be either, they make it very clear theh aren't. All of them are very humble and sweet really it'd probably surprise you lol.

He went back to America and did his own thing before he gained traction again with his covers. He eventually went back to Korea and went solo. Now he’s a CEO and signed under Jay-z’s company roc nation. He’s fr started kids careers in Korea so he’s a super big name and well respected in the hip hop scene out there.

I know you guys are new to reacting but I think that their shouldn't be preconceived notions that the artist are portraying an image for entertainment. Jay is from Seattle and Ph-1 is for New York so of course they were included by American culture. I think that it would be helpful if you guys start doing research on some of the artist that you are reacting to (for K-pop groups their are thousands of guides on KZread). I still liked the reaction though so I mean no hate with this comment.

It’s weird they said that I literally requested it on insta mentioning the fact that they’re solo artists and that it’s a different industry. I guess they probably recorded this before my request.

Yes! They are all absolutely worth checking out individually bc they are all great rappers/musicians. My personal favorites are pH-1, Haon, and Jay Park of course! This song is from the Red Tape album which is more hip hop inspired, Blue Tape features the same artists but more melody and RnB based. I’m excited for y’all to get more into K-HipHop n RnB because there are SO many fantastic artists and songs!!

they have some amazing solo music!! the youngest on this track is actually 16 and he raps at this part 5:56-6:18. h1gher music is not kpop, but khiphip. h1gher music is a label managed by jay park (the one who starts off the song) and this song is off their compilation album red tape. in fact there is red tape and blue tape, where red tape is more hardcore rap and blue tape is more poppy, easy-to-listen-to type rap!

Haon, pH-1 and Jay Park are 100% worth a deep dive for sure Jay Park’s a road less travelled is an album almost fully in English that he wrote after going back to his hometown of Seattle and learned the rap culture and brought underground rappers into the album. pH-1 is ethnically korean and moved to NYC later on in his life and was selling Jordans to make money and get through school while trying to make his rap career work and then he got a chance on Jay Park’s label in korea and he’s been popping ever since. Haon is a young up and coming rapper w a huge depth in ability to flow and great lyricism

I don't know about the others, but Jay Park's back catalogue is worth checking out. He has a long history starting with a short stint as a member of 2PM, and then solo. Every since he got signed by Roc Nation in the US I personally don't care for his music anymore. I guess his more or less mainstream material was right before Roc Nation. He talked about not renewing his contract with Roc Nation and even retiring as an artist. He still has his 2 companies. He turns 34 this year, and he's from Seattle. Kpop genre: You'll have numerous people contesting the thought of Kpop being a genre. I'm not going into that. However, how I was introduced into Kpop some time before 2012 it was called a fusion genre. Yes, a genre fusing all genres into one, however they please.

THANK U FOR WHOEVER RECOMMENDED THIS. Jay Park's an OG idol/artist who emerged in the 2nd gen of kpop and he's actually signed under Jay-Z's Roc Nation in the US. He has a lot of classic r&b roots so he doesn't just rap~ And these albums are kinda like the Young Money or Dreamville albums in the west where they compile label artists together. And yeah unfortunately there's a lot of repping of American, Black, or gang culture in Kpop where they don't understand the depth of it, especially in more mainstream p o p labels 😬

omg i'm so glad u reacted to h1ghr. The label, H1GHR MUSIC, is founded by Jay Park which is the one who sings the chorus. This is basically a collaboration of all the artists in h1ghr. They released two albums at the end of last year: red tape and blue tape which is a collaboration album of all of them. i definitely reccomend listening! There's a few music videos for the collaboration songs which i think you guys would really like! As well as that, they're definitely worth pursuing individually! and nah, they aren't real gangsters LOL theyre actually real sweet and cute irl!

Jay park is one the rappers and is the owner of H1ghr Music , was in a group called 2PM which was one of the most popular male group in late 2nd early 3rd gen of kpop , one of their most iconic songs are Hands Up and My House but my personal favorite is I’ll be back , by reacting to those you are taking a trip to old kpop , much different from what you’ve seen but highly recommend to listen to tho
