I don't necessarily think it's fair to compare this song to more modern kpop songs because the style was so different 5 years ago in kpop and at the time, Big Bang was the trend setter. The things that followed and built on their style have improved upon the style and refined it but for the time, this was the cutting edge. Part of the reason khiphop and kpop are where they are is because of Big Bang and songs like this that took large leaps out of what was the norm for kpop back then. At the time, for kpop, this was sort of bizarre and rebellious but nowadays the style is so overdone and overplayed that no one blinks an eye.

Mhmm! 2nd gen groups in Kpop were a real transitioning point for the industry as a whole. Even now, it's very common practice for mainstream companies to buy demos from western artists/producers OR simply write in the western style, so THIS kind of music was wild times for Kpop fans. I hope they react to the later songs from 2nd gen groups to see that evolution of sound :DDD

Yes! 2nd generation vs 3rd and 4th. Check out Fxxk it! Another great Big Bang song. Tempo took a lot of vibes from that one. This is a large influence on "No Diggity' by Oneus. You guys are cramming and starting at the end of the book and going backwards. But you're getting there! Keep going!

@@kaylavip6127 I’m not denying that 2nd Gen groups did a lot during their time. Yes, they change the Kpop scene Yes, they’re a big influence to the modern world. Which hence they get high praise and get called ogs. I completely get it. However it can cause confusion because we all know who the true OGs are, the ones who birthed the genre. And I feel a lot of people forget that☹️If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have this conversation.

THE KINGS !!! The ultimate idol to todays young idols. Please don't judge their whole music list by this one song - you will be surprised at the mixed and varied content they have.

I had a feeling this might not suit y’all, as it’s dated. Like most have mentioned, they’ve been around for a long time and have been inspiration to many groups, active or not. When they came out, no one was really checking for them (I guess this is telling that I’ve been a fan since day 1) because that era was heavy on ballads and pop; Big Bang was heavy on the R&B and rap + B2K-esque appeal. Overall, they’ve been household names/influential from music to fashion in and out of Korea for many years. Perhaps y’all might enjoy FXXK IT per their last release.

Depends, i think their relatively recent songs that are more chill didn't age. Like Sober, Loser, Let's not fall in love, If you, Fxxk it... Bangbangbang always sounded a bit odd and intense. Even 5 years ago some complained it was "noise music".

Agree with you. I think this sounds dated, but when it came out and up to a year later, I couldn't get enough.

VIPS know what Big Bang brought to kpop and the music industry..without their innovation, courage, style and out of the box content,,the genre wouldn't be the same and sound completely different today. They broke molds, stigmas and made the "different " and "diverse " a standard. Trendsetters before many others. Everything has a beginning and they are IT.!!. Someone had to start wave for us multistans to enjoy great content and artists..

They are one of the first boy groups to become really famous outside of Korea and the east. w/o them the KPOP landscape would look very different. Look up, GD and Taeyang's, Good Boy, Bigg Bang's Bae Bae, GD's B***shit or One of a kind and T.O.P.'s Doom Da Da. You'll see how much influence they have and also get some different vibes. Plus, the one with the red hair has written and produced many of their hits. Most groups have very little input with the songs. It's starting to change but for the most part--things are just chosen for them and they perform it Give'em another chance if for no other reason to see the group everybody wanted to copy and still do..

Y'all probably ain't feelin it cuz it's a bit dated... but it was pretty huge when it first came out... it made these guys rich, turned them into super stars all across Asia, lol...in fact, it was so influential in the Kpop industry, that basically everyone after them used this as a template or formula; a combination of EDM and Hip Hop was the foundation for many many groups that came after them. In fact, that "180 switchup" became a staple for their company YG Entertainment. You can go right now and see YG Entertainment's newest boy group "TREASURE" and you'll hear the same kind of 180 switchup in their music, just in a modern context. Go check out "I Love You" by TREASURE...you'll see what I mean :)

Yeah as a kpop fan since 2008 they were already hitting it big and trend setters and already started the formula for other kpop groups. I would say Fantastic Baby is an example

Bad Boy and Fxxk It for BigBang. Honestly, y’all probably wouldn’t vibe with a lot of the title tracks they released. The solo stuff would be more your speed. Especially Taeyang. You gotta do Doom Dada by TOP though, that’s a classic!

I would suggest PLT - hocus pocus or igoholic for more k hip hop sounds. Also I would suggest the k-artists DEAN, crush or jay park for more k r&b! there's way more than just the kpop scene or "idol" music. Big Bang though is one of the most iconic groups in kpop, glad you checked them out! my favorite songs of big bang's is bad boy and sober. their most iconic song is fantastic baby. a lot of their songs though do sound like the early 2010's because they have not dropped music since 2015, which is why you got the vibe that bang bang bang felt a bit outdated, but it wasn't when it came out back then.

Big Bang is considered to be one of the og's and the kings of kpop, so its more that they pioneered international kpop and set the foundation for modern groups that a lot of fans listen to now~ its pretty impressive that their career started out 15 years ago, so they're at a different generation than the newer groups you guys started out with (which have often times been influenced by big bang which is p cool). fantastic baby is considered to be the song that launched kpop to the west like crazyyyyyyy

I dont think you should compare the songs from big bang or any other older kpop to more recent or younger groups bc nowadays kpop takes a lot more western influence then they used to 5-10 years ago. Older kpop groups were more experimental with song compared to now so I think most of big bangs iconic songs wouldn't be up ur alley. But 2 song I would suggest would be Loser and fxxk it! One person I'd love to see you react to is DEAN is a korean rnb artist who is one of the best in the Korean industry. 2 songs I would rec is instagram and put my hands on you ft. Anderson.Paak!!

Bigbang has been in the industry since 2006. They are currently of an indefinite hiatus because they went to the military service and while they are already discharged, they are savoring the time before they come back to limelight

I would never recommend this BigBang song for a first listen, it has a lot of views because newbies discovered this group too late and this video went viral. It is not a song that identifies the style of your music, it was an experiment. Big Bang is basically a HipHop / R & B group. Of the last songs, before the military service break, the one that stands out and is true to the identity of the group is "FXXK IT" or the iconic "Bad Boy". You cannot rule out the duo or solo works of the members. For example... From rapper T.O.P. - "Doom Dada", "Turn It Up" From leader G-Dragon - "One Of a Kind", "Who You?" From Lead Vocalist Taeyang - "Eyes, Nose, Lips" G-Dragon & TOP - "Zutter" G-Dragon & Taeyang - "Good Boy" They are worth it!

I think you'd really like Fxxk It by Big Bang, it's my favorite of theirs and has been one of my favorites of kpop in general ever since discovering it back in 2016. Loser is another good song that has pretty sad lyrics and a sad story line for each of the members but its still a catchy, laid back track that I recommend.

Big Bang is the King of Kpop, the most famous Kpop group in Asia.

BIGBANG didn't really intend to make music to suit the western market taste. They make music according to what they want to make. To me, BANG BANG BANG is a party banger, a great song to play in every grand stadium. It such a lively song that it makes people hyped and happy. 💛 And about BIGBANG. They are legends in the KPOP industry. They have always been dubbed as KINGS of Kpop for a good reason. Young new Kpooppers likes to trash talk about them, but their influence isn't like the new fandom loves to reiterate all the time. Those views, awards or ranking isn't what makes BIGBANG KINGS. These guys' influence goes beyond that. Their history may not be as pristine or up to the standard of the conservative Korean culture, but without BIGBANG, the idol industry would have remained stagnant. If they never came into the picture, many talented artists and producers would not even consider becoming a part of the idol industry.

BigBang definitely paved the way for Kpop globally. They are the best! Their style is very different than your current kpop taste so you probably won't watch much of their music videos.

Yes, this was a bop 5 years ago. I loved it. But if you want to really appreciate Big Bang talent listen to their earlier music. Songs like HARU HARU, LIES or BlUE. Also they usually wrote the lyrics of their songs.

TOP - Doom Dada. TOP is a rapper from Big Bang. It will blow your mind! But in fact, there is a deep meaning in the MV and lyrics.

It’s a song that’s catchy and definitely a club hit but I agree with your comment about the production... it’s a song that gets in your head real quick though even if it’s not your style...

That's why I don't like to recommend this song to people who doesn't know them because it looks like they only do songs like this and they don't haha I'd say for you to listen to 'Fxxk it' or 'Bad Boy' or even 'Loser'. You can check their solo stuff too, 'TOP's Doom Dada' is a good one.

Big Bang can be an acquired taste sometimes 😅Thank you for giving them a chance though! For me, Bang Bang Bang is number one but Last Dance is number two, even if it makes me cry.

lol Big Bang are iconic! They are who got me into Kpop back in the day, along with CL. I like "Fantastic Baby". And yes, their songs are even played at sports events in the US. Definitely club music. They are older, too, so the styles are older. You have to realize they debuted some 15 years ago. They were trendsetters in their time, cutting edge second-generation stars. Nobody sounded like them. I don't think you gave them a fair shake, but that's okay. You're used to modern Kpop and it's much different from older Kpop. I still love their music and it puts me in a good mood. :)

Lol I think it would be so fun or y'all to see how far they'd come since debut to this (Bang Bang Bang) point. That being said I recommend "La La La" and "A Fool of Tears" (just for growth and nostalgia purposes)... but for the actual music/vibes they may be able to get into, "Bad Boy" may be that song.

FYI Big Bang are known as king of kpop. Most of the kpop codes in term on songs, fashion etc comes from them. They’re an OG group, they tested a lot of things since their debut and everything they did was later applied with newer groups. Their discography is very wide and versatile like there’s litterally every sound in their work because they’re very experimenting. Most of the songs right now sounds like that because most of the groups and idols are inspired of them. Like they’re literally every idol idol’s. You should check their song « LOSER » or « BAE BAE » it might suit y’all taste better.

What u see guys is KING OF KPOP, they make the Kpop industry BIG. What you listen and watch nowadays is thank to them, the 2nd K-Pop generation. They brought new things to the table, but now all K-Pop boy bands and girl bands are doing the same. There's no individuality. Just a few groups are creating new things as NCT and Taemin.

Yo I felt a similar way when I first heard this song - not really my style, BUT, I would suggest still putting it on your playlist, coz now I freakn love this and its remains in rotation to this day! Big Bang were so fashion-forward for their time man. Their style was unapologetically individual! Don’t let this dance music vibe fool you - they were urban af lol. I can understand not digging this if you’re listening with today’s ears but BIGBANG kicked the door down when it came to kpop. There’s no BTS, BlackPink, NCT, etc without them. They were the first to crack US billboard and sellout concerts here when K-pop was still just a niche thing. They were the first to do the super bright/over the top videos that K-pop is know for and the first to do the completely different switch-ups in their songs. Total trendsetters in every way and still regarded as the Kings by all the current idols.

It took me at least 15 minutes to turn my top 10 into a top 2. My top 2 songs are 1) Fxxk It and 2) Blue (followed closely by Sober, Lets Not Fall in Love, and Bad Boy)
