BIGBANG, better known as THE KINGS OF KPOP, THE IDOLS OF IDOLS! Their comeback was scheduled for 2020, and they were supposed to perform at Coachella that year ... but none of this was possible for the damn pandemic!

Now is the perfect time to learn more about BigBang because they are releasing a new song in the Spring. It will be the first song in a few years because they all had been serving in the military and having personal time (one of the members just welcomed their first child). Also BigBang is now 4 members, one of the members left the group due to many scandals surrounding him at the time. I don't want to speak too much about that right now though because it's a very sensitive subject.

Yay more Bigbang!!! Here is a "brief" introduction and history of Bigbang: They debuted in 2006 from YG. They were not super successfull right from the start but with Lies in 2007 and Haru Haru in 2008 they catapulted to superstardom in South Korea. And they just grew bigger with each comeback and started to get international fame too. And this was before KZread and social media were huge like they are now. They really like to experiment with their music, you'll never know what to expect from them.... pop-rock to EDM to old school rap and everything in between. I think that is one of the biggest reasons why they are so loved by both kpop fans and the general public. Never trust a kpop fan who doesn't know Bigbang (or the other 2nd gen big ones). They are the blueprint that other companies use to form their new groups. The members are GD (G-Dragon): Leader, Lead rapper, Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (The wild long hair) TOP: Main rapper, minimal vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1987 (the deep voiced rapper) Taeyang: Main vocal, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (the one who is without a shirt the whole video) Daesung: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1989 (white hair) (most of his solo stuff is under the name D-Lite in Japan) ex-member Seungri: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1990 (short black hair, with the ladies) (Left BB in 2019 due to a scandal, if you want to know more I can write a new comment on that, but all in all it was a super messy, public and complicated thing that was part a witch hunt and part covering bigger issues and there was some small part that was the truth also. There is also A LOT of wrong info going around on this scandal.) They don't really dance during their MVs and lives (like pretty much all other groups do) but they are talented dancers, especially Taeyang, GD and Seungri. When you get to know them more you will see that TOP is the greatest dancer of all!! LOL Seungri even had a dance academy and many idols trained there, like J-Hope (BTS) and Minzy (2NE1). BB are the kings of live performances!! They like to arrange their songs differently for pretty much every consert and live show. They have had the same live band with them since 2012. The band six toured with BB for years until they went to hiatus for military and the band has since toured with other YG groups, mainly Blackpink. My personal favs live are Café, Haru Haru (acoustic version) and Sober (with Daesung on the drums). I highly recommend watching a consert, the Japan dome tour X 2014-2015 is one of the best ones and the MADE tour is also a great one. But to fully grasp the impact they have had, here is a list of some things that are normal now but that Bigbang started: - Lightsticks (GD invented the concept and designed BB's yellow crown lightstick, the bang bong) - TOP was the first underground rapper turned idol (turned into a successfull actor) - Writing their own songs and producing their own music (GD again, the musical genius, but all of them write and produce) - Different genres of music started to be more common in Kpop thanks to them (Hip Hop, EDM...) as they were exploring different genres and making variety of differend genre music. And started to combine different genres in one song. Like Bang bang bang. - Fantastic Baby started the EDM era in Kpop. - To have actual rappers in a group and not a singer who has trained to rap here and there. The rap line GD&TOP (and they actually have an album together) - Rapper combo with higher voice and a deeper voice (when you get to more groups this seems to be more of a rule now haha) - Solo carees, back in the day idols started their solo careers after disbanding, but BB members wanted to go solo and stay in BB. And they have done it super well.. All of them have a very successful solo careers. - International success. They were the first ones to have a real world tour, first international awards, etc. - YG made BIGBANG but BIGBANG made YG. YG ent is one of the "BIG 3" (or the big 4 now...with Hybe) all thanks to BB. They were extremely poor when BB debuted and thanks to their success they are now one of the biggest companies out there. - First mini album - They were always themselves, goofy, a bit crazy and funny. So groups now can also be more free to who they are. - High fashion in kpop - Crazy hair colors - The list goes on.. They've had some scandals over the years (some real and some not) but in my opinion most of it is just South Korean media hating on them (they always have) and them being grown up men just living their life in a super conservative world of kpop idols. What I personally like the most about them is that they really don't give a f**k about anything anymore, they just do what they like the most and that is excellent music. With this modern era of kpop with the super conservative rules it'll be fun to see BB shake things up when they make a comeback soon!! I would recommend to start either from the start or go with the most recent MADE album. All songs from that album (except If You, see the tour report for this one) has an MV. Also they all have excellent solo music with their own flare. Please check out Daesung (D-Lite) - Anymore (live Japan dome tour 2017) and TOP- Doom Dada (MV).

That’s a big deal for Nike to give a celeb the reins to design their very own new Nike shoe!TOP is the one with blue hair. He is the other rapper in the group. He was the first underground rapper to become an idol. He’s also an actor as well. Has several movies that are very good. Is big in the art world and is working on a project for art in SoKor. Taeyang is the one with all the tattoos in this mv and he’s a good dancer and vocalist. He’s also known to be allergic to sleeves and a lot of times shirts in general. Daesung is the one chained to the wall. He is really good on drums. Has powerful vocals and is huge among the Japanese fans. He is always smiling and is a real sweetheart. He also has a thing for legos. Seungri is the one with the scratches.He’s very sweet as well but very energetic. Is usually the harmony vocals. Great dancer and the maknae(youngest). He learned like 5 languages to be able to communicate better with their fans and was usually the one on stage to give a lot of fan service and inclusion. Unfortunately he is not with the group anymore. They are supposed to release a new song this spring. They’re all super talented and creative as hell. They pay out of pocket for everything from promotion to concerts and mvs bc G Dragon is a perfectionist and wants the fans to have the best experience when spending their money to see them. That’s why you’ll see their live stages are unreal and the best. You’ll also note that while there is choreography they usually aren’t sticklers for it and love to have fun on stage. They actually are also known as chameleons especially GD bc they don’t have one set genre of music they fit into. Also bc they change their fashion up frequently as well. GD and CL from 2NE1 actually collabed with skrillex on “Dirty Vibe” and GD and TOP have worked with Diplo and Bauer on other work as well. BigBang literally has a song for any mood and any genre you feel like hearing not to mention their solo work and sub units are just as epic. GD started the fandom naming trend, designed the first fandom light sticks. Started the writing and producing of own music, crazy hair colors, solo careers without disbandment. GD’s also into breaking barriers on gender norms as he dresses in androgynous fashion. He is very big on inclusivity and very down on hate. I love how each member has their own personality and GD writes so they have their own parts to shine. They are very distinct vocally which makes it easy to tell when you listen to their songs exactly which member is singing each part. I usually have trouble with a lot of boy groups sounding too similar and hard to tell which is singing until I really get to know them(and yes I mean all bgs not just kpop). There is so much more. So fellow VIPs help fill in what I’ve left out? I think you shld react to Bad Boy. Get a feel for their more R&B side. It’s on the same album as “Fantastic Baby”.

BIGBANG live performances just bring you another type of experience, the energy and the stage presence they have goes beyond the screens that can make you feel that you are in there too. Bigbang is bigger than most new fans know. Lightsticks was invented by their leader, they were the first group to color their hair pink, blue and many more unusual colors which idols never did. There are a lot of things bb did like countless. I reccomend you watch their live performance of bang3x, fantastic baby and sober in 2016 which was their last concert as a whole group. Its nuts!! Arguably the best bb live performance or check out the 2015 mama performance that shit is crazy as hell.

I highly recommend Bigbang 10 live in Osaka bangbangbang+fantastic baby+sober it's a Japanese version we suggest their live cause as you know they are older group although their MVs are good but their live is the best that's why they also called as King's of Live stages they can do solo Tours that no one in KPOP does that's how big they are even their solos are great

If I could be of an assistant, Big Bang actually started off as a HipHop K-Idol group which at the time of their debut, HipHop was what attracted the masses. It was when they came back with 'Lies', the boys literally changed the game for K-pop, music-wise, visual-wise and fashion-wise. From that moment, Big Bang continue to experiment with new sounds that is not of the original K-pop and bringing over hiphop and other musical genre fans into K-pop becoming the group that broke the K-pop stereotype. Their courage to experiment not just musically but also on every other aspects of their career was the start for all other K-pop idols to try and experiment and break off their initial concepts. There has been other K-idols that have tried to do this but before 'Lies', a lot of the attempts falls a little behind. Big Bang continue on to experiment with music which help to inspire Ka-idols today. Big Bang also is one of the many K-pop idols that introduced K-pop to the global masses. Them including the likes of Rain, BoA, Se7en, Wonder Girls and of course the great legend Psy, knocked on the international walls which ultimately paved the way for future K-idols. Perhaps, you guys can check out Lies kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZHeqldKhprOegtI.html . It may not be as big as their current tracks but if you were to listen to K-pop music before the year 2007/2008, you could see the difference that Big Bang brought forth with this song. This is my personal opinion as a K-pop fan since 2000 and also a fan who followed Big Bang even before their debut. I hope this helps.

These boys partied SO HARD in the day that they got themselves in to all kinds of trouble. They really were trendsetters. They followed no one, they copied no one. They made their own style and many K-pop artists today have BIGBANG to thank for what kpop has become. Unstoppable. Untouchable.

They were titled as the KINGS of kpop for so many reason first and one of the most impactful thing is the writing and self producing of their own song Gdragon is the most credited idol in KOMCA (Korea Music Copyright Association) from their rookie days they write their song and that broke the stereotype that "idols cant write song and are just produced doll from entertainments" since then idols get to have their chance and trainees were encouraged to train in producing songs and now we have groups who contributes in their songs. Second light sticks there's no light sticks without GD. Third the dgaf attitude they know no boundaries when it comes to expressing their music. they're rebels of kpop who took down so many stereotypes and became an example to lot of young generation literally the idols of idols, celebrities of celebrities. Their impact is unmatched their relevancy still reigns that's why they're one of the people who paved the way.
