The only ones who laughed are great listeners and they are an exception.

There's so much to weight release. All domains of life are not only affecting how you hold on to weight, but also can change dramatically when you start doing the work. There are no pills that work. You HAVE to do the inner work. The WORK of deep-diving into your emotional, spiritual, relational and nutritional world...THAT is how you release weight and never struggle with food and body again. I struggled for decades with food and body disdain....you can win your life back. It's soooooo freeing. 🥰💜🤍🖤💥

With alcohol: Alcohol is carbs. These carbs, however, cannot be stored as fat. So instead, the body tried to use them asap. Any other foods that are taken in while drinking, are immediately sent to storage--meaning that it's not alcohol per se that makes you gain weight, it's the extra calories it's mixed with, and the food you eat while drinking. That's why I only drink vodka with 0 calorie sodas. "Alcohol has calories. They behave like carbohydrate calories, but the body cannot store their energy. It must burn them immediately. As a result, the calories of food you eat at the same time will more readily end up as fat, because the body will tend to store them. If you are trying to lose weight, cutting out alcohol will make the job much easier."

Someone once told me, that you can train your body to learn new habits and coping mechanisms. It was actually aimed at smoking, but I‘ve never even tried to smoke and used the same technique to get away from stress-binge-chocolate-eating. You have to find out, what brings you to do the thing you want to change (which you seem to crave), and then find something more healthy to do instead. Then you have to consciously to this for a few weeks instead until your body uses the different method to „stop your craving“.

I was a fat kid. In 7th grade I weighed 180 pounds. I remember times where I would sit on the couch with 4 Oreos, finish them, then go back to the cupboard to grab four more. I ate whole sleeves of Ritz crackers, and loved demolishing bags of Twizzlers. I did all of this before, during, and after I would sit inside and play Halo 3 or Minecraft on my 360. Puberty and after school sports helped me stretch out and loose about 30 pounds, but here I am today, at 19 years old looking skinny with a shirt on but uncomfortable taking off my shirt off at a pool. A lot of people call this body type "skinny fat." I tried running. During the first few months in the summer of quarantine I ran 2 miles every other morning and pushed my mile time to 5:50 at its best. Afterwards I would refuel by eating a breakfast of a turkey cheese bagel sandwich and a protein shake. After this meal I always ate a standard lunch and dinner. I didn't see any results in the two months that I did this so I eventually gave up. My stamina was really increasing, but my body hadn't changed. I went off to college and ran on occasion but ended up making a bad habit eating unhealthy foods, not getting enough sleep, and consuming alcohol. I felt pretty hopeless. I hated the way my chest and abs were rounded by remnants of fat I had from childhood as a result of all those Oreos, and how I had just been adding onto the fire at this point. I wish I could say I've made it, or that I'm the person who reached his goal and is living in his dream body. The reality is that I'm not there yet. I have a long way to go. Looking back, I now understand why my running stint didn't do anything for my physique. The amount of calories I ate to "refuel" after my runs, and the lunch and dinner I ate after that was undoing the work I had been putting in. A single bagel is anywhere from 250-400 calories. This doesn't even include the meat, cheese, and protein shake I would consume. A 2 mile run will only burn around 300 calories. At my current weight of 150 lbs, my allowance calories for maintenance is about 1500-1750 calories. With a roughly 900 calorie "refuel" meal and the 2 meals I would eat after, I always ended up over my allowance without even knowing it. This realization is why I've recently started a new journey to finally get rid of those Oreos strapped to my chest and belly. Extreme Intermittent fasting and being in a caloric deficit has a lot of fans and haters. I am both. I hate being hungry, but I now also understand the logic behind it, and how to reduce my hunger. I've been doing this for 3 weeks now, and I'm barely starting to see a tad of my fat go away, but its working. There are multiple things I've learned while doing this. One, intermittent fasting is not a free pass to eat whatever you want during the feeding window. Second, Calorie counting is essential. Sometimes getting full off food happens, sometimes it doesn't. Third, hunger is powerful. Anyone who diets knows this, but water can be a best friend for this, because it can help top off meals and keep you from snacking. To do a successful calorie restricted diet, a deficit of 500 calories is ample. For me, my recommended calorie intake to keep my current body weight is 1500 calories, so I eat rough 1000. For me personally, I love eggs, and I'm a big fan of consistency. I've been eating 4 eggs every morning the past 3 weeks, alongside oat bread toast without butter, cucumber, and good carbs like plums and apples, as well as avocado halves for good fats and some hummus here and there. When I add these calories up after my meal, I'm happy when it comes to 900-1100 calories because I know that that deficit is slowly but surely chipping away at my bodies natural source of energy apart from food: fat. I will admit eating one meal a day is extreme. I'm still not fully used to it and I have cravings for those 200 calorie nature valley bars (they taste like heaven), but nothing feels better than resisting those unhealthy temptations. Living like this has been a sacrifice. When I'm out with my friends I'll have to sit in a car smelling like Canes sauce, Texas toast, and chicken, knowing I can't partake in God's great blessing to earth Raising Canes. I'm not sure if anyone's gonna read this. It's an old video after all, but If you do, I just want to let you know that sticking to something even when its hard is infinitely valuable. Sometimes the support from those around you while you are doing the thing you've set your mind to is nonexistent. I've had multiple people say that I'm doing it all wrong and that I should stop, all while they cram their faces with whatever they want. However, I know that I've lived in my body with its crappy metabolism and leftover chub for too long to give in and live like the people who have God-tier metabolisms and eat whatever they want. Like this lady said in her TED talk, Imagine the healthy looking and feeling person you want to be and win small battles every day until one day, you'll look in the mirror and hardly recognize yourself. That's the day that the support and praise from all the people who told you to stop will come, and by then, you won't need it because its you who got you there. Once this is over and I've reached my goal of shedding those pounds, I plan on lifting, eating a caloric surplus, and getting bigger. I'm thinking once I reach my first goal I'll come back here to reread what I've wrote and see what progress I've made. Thanks for reading. EDIT: Changing my strategy to eat more calories and work out more so I can gain muscle and weight since I am actually teetering on being underweight now. SECOND EDIT: wow so I kinda forgot I wrote this, and checked it out only recently to find the original post had over 100 likes and multiple comments. My thoughts on everything I wrote about here have certainly changed a bit over the course of the year since posting because of my own personal experiences since then. For me as a young 20 year old man, hunger is something I can really struggle with. I look back on the time period where I was only eating one meal a day consisting of 4 eggs and toast as a dark time. I did a lot of research online around that time an apparently there are numerous health benefits for OMAD, but what works for some doesn't necessarily work for all. I lost a lot of weight, but my body didn't discriminate between fat and muscle while shedding pounds. I ended up looking less full and more frail. This wasn't the body I wanted. Friends of mine convinced to have a change of heart and to take a different approach to getting a body I was proud of. Going to the gym has altered the way I view food and my own body. I started small at Planet fitness and quickly realized that if I was going to be working hard in the gym, I needed to properly fuel myself with ample amounts of good healthy food. Especially as a young man, my body reacted positively to the new regimen. I was getting classic noob gains of muscle. The problem of looking a little fat around the midsection has come back, but mentally, having muscle helps everything look proportional. Not only do I look a lot better but I feel better too. I've decided to delay my gratification by accepting a bulk cut strategy for the long term as well. I think one of the main things I've learned through this whole process is that trying something is better than trying nothing. No one who's an expert at anything ever would have gotten that way if they didn't risk failure by at least attempting whatever it was. For me that was doing something as severe as eating one meal a day to discover that I needed a different approach to reaching my goals. So if you're on the fence about what your next move should be, I'd honestly just say "try something" and stick with it. Evaluate and assess where you are, learn patience, and then figure out if your strategy needs to be adjusted.

    - if you have type 2 diabetes, you have the same risk as someone who's had a heart attack. - change your equation of food + rest + movement to create a different outcome - plan strategies for 2 days, 2 months, and 2 years for long term sustainability - track everything to keep things rational rather than emotional. Includes the calories eaten, burned from exercise, and how much sleep you're getting. - break it down into small pieces. -Think of cellular health, and which nutrients your body needs. -learn about appropriate portion sizes. Eat more slowly, potentially with chopsticks, knife & fork, & use smaller plates. -Find ways to create movement. Fidget. Count steps, use a standing desk, take walk breaks. -Include your favorite foods into your diet, but tweak its ingredients to fit your plan without compromising taste

I found this today because today I have reached my new heaviest weight - 107kg (234lbs). I'm educated, have enjoyed a brilliant career, I now own my own business, I'm happily married and have one healthy, independent daughter - in other words I have no excuses. I know the health dangers I am facing (so far I've avoided diabetes and heart attacks) - but I know that they are looming ever closer. I suspect I'd need a Jordan Peterson calibre psychologist to help me fix my head but until I find such a guru perhaps I just need to start (once again) today to chip away at the mountain of fat I choose to carry around each and every day. I hope my heart can forgive me once more.

She didn't say that. She just said that medicine helps manage incurable diabetes. But what would I know, I am just a future doctor. I guess you can *bring back peoples' dead pancreatic beta cells* (that are ment to produse insulin, but I'm sure you knew that). Go ahead, tell me how we can do this. We might get a nobel prize for that.

It is not curable, but you can turn it half way to actual diabetes. Either she got "diabetes" diagnoses over increased blood sugar. At this point she could get necrosis and amputated feet or sugar coma and death if she neither took added insulin nor changed diet. And she ate herself to 300 lb. If you listened to her, she did find also another doctors who were willing to risk her life. Or she still has diabetes, eats zero carbs and lives in risk of all coincidences. If your pancreas is broken - there is no way to fix it so far.

My honorary grandma had her diabetes type 2 so „cured“, that she only needed insulin injections for the occasional piece of birthday cake (about once a month). Unfortunately, she died about twenty years ago. Most doctors in Germany (probably all of Europe), that I have heard of, send you to „Diabetes type 2-training camp“, tell you what you can and should do to make your life as little as possible depending on insulin injections. That always includes healthy eating and exercise.

I have a friend who tried so hard to cut food from her life. The more she cut, the more she craved. Then she ends up eating more than before. She doesn't know that food is the fuel of a body. She should think it like a friend not an enemy. I try to lose weight too. But I don't think weight loss as my goal. If I focus on weight loss, I will do everything to reduce my weight. But that doesn't mean me will be healthy. My goal is about my healthy life, I choose to maintain my weight if my body is healthy. Weight loss is by-product when I live healthier. I choose a strategy which to maintain not for 2 years but for all my life. I research to find which food I should eat. I change my diet. I eat more healthy food, but I'm not cut out bad food which I like as fry chicken, noodles, rice,... I'm just eating less of it. I reduce my portion. But I'm not focused on reducing it. I just try to aware what I eat by eating slowly, eat with chopsticks (actually I always eat with chopsticks cause I'm Asian), reduce my size bowl,...

She's given the whole formula for free and in 6 minutes. Yet, she knows you have to find what works for you. 1) Diabetes Type 2 carries the same risk as somebody who has had 1 heart attack already. 2) Feeding, moving and resting were the equating factors. You will notice that your body is doing just fine given what you are giving it. 3) Live your future habits now in terms of calories and food types. The future you will have to be doing things differently to maintain anyway. 4) Plan 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months etc. Make little battles and tune to your circumstances. 5) Track everything. Rational not emotional. 6) Sometimes you don't need food, you need a nap. 7) Control portions. Eating smaller plates, smaller utensils or just eat everything with a knife and fork including chocolate! 8) Look for every way to move or fidget ie. count steps and get a standing desk. 9) Write down your favourite foods and check GI. She plans for her favourite foods and incorporates them daily. 10) Your body is an adaptive, self healing machine. You have a choice and chance provided you give it CEO level attention.

So good and so accurate! What I find frustrating though is that for those of us who are the polar opposite of Type A personalities, that type of analysis and attention to detail, not to mention self discipline, can be nearly impossible. Add to that issues like sensory disorder, anxiety disorder, ADD, Asbergers, etc…and we are just trying to get through a normal day without having a mental breakdown. And of course the unhealthy lifestyle choices only compound those issues, many of which would nearly resolve themselves with better choices. But how on earth are we supposed to get there? Just being honest. It’s a frustrating conundrum.

At my heaviest I was 280lbs at 5'6 and barely any muscle. Today I am a size 34waist and XL shirt. I have not weighed myself and don't feel the desire to. 2XL shirts were getting very tight and honestly I should've been wearing 3XL shirts. Size 40waist pants were snug. I have added 5 holes in my belt and need to get a proper fitting belt soon. When I first started I was eating fastfood once a day. I don't recommend doing that but I still lost a few pounds. Once I started eating clean food, I started dropping weight like crazy. I also added resistance bands and walking into my routine.
