More than they gain by watching it?
Cialdini’s 7 principles of influence: 1. Scarcity. At the top of the list. The fear of loss or the fear of loss of opportunity is the most motivating factor in human psychology. Scarcity is more powerful than urgency 2. Consistency. People have a deep desire to remain consistent in what they do and say 3. Likability. People like people who like them (praise). People like people who are like them (similarities) 4. Reciprocity. People feel obligated to give back 5. Authority. People are much more influenced by those who have a deep understanding and a lot of experience in their craft 6. Social Proof. People are much more likely to be influenced by you if you have credible people who vouch for you 7. Unity. Shared identity or sharing membership of the same group. ‘We’ group

*COFFEE MAN* *I am an Authority on coffee making.* *The Consensus (social proof) by other coffee manufacturers is that my coffee is the best.* *I Consistently give away some coffee.* *Everyone Likes me for giving away free coffee.* *I enjoy Reciprocity from those I freely give coffee to.* *Although the coffee I can give away is Scarce, we in the local coffee club Unite as often as possible.*

The key is to be genuine … I think you can tell when someone is just trying to mislead you… in every way… If u are addicted to giving, it’s just part of your nature to be kind.. try it.. u will like it ..😘

I read his first book 20 years ago then became a salesman I still am a salesman and will be till the day I die his work taught me more than anything else
You need to know who you are dealing with for reciprocity to apply. There are a lot of entitled and narcissistic people in society these days. In my life believing in reciprocity ended up in my getting really burned by the people I gave the most to.
@ariongerardino2261

Your correct. I experienced that too. Good thing I found the book of Robert. Now I know how to use reciprocity.
We all can sense sincerity. You cannot fool people all the time. If their goal is to make some money off you and you realize you are being manipulated you are not going to fall for these bag of tricks.

who are the other interviers then
This is very very good and I am a professional negotiator. The key point is the one about not dismissing your efforts. Unless you respect yourself, nobody will respect you. I used to have a lawyer come into my office and blabber on and on for 2 hrs about all sorts of things, run things by me, ask for advice, tell me what sort of day she had had, etc. I would walk into her office once in a blue moon and spent 15 mins and on leaving the office I'd say "Thanks, sorry to bug you" and her response would be "Mmmhmmmm". It became clear to me that she didn't notice that the reciprocation was greater on my part than hers, because I never valued my time the way she valued hers.

Not all lawyers - I am genuine 🧘🏾♀️
That is so funny. I do this with coworkers. I'd listen to their personal story and in return I get to vent all my frustration bc I have no friends. They are now obligated to listening me vent muahahahhah
I viewed this on Feb 18th 2023. The questions Lewis asked were spot on. The answers by Robert has provided the confidence to launch my business. Many thanks to both.
I've seen a lot of videos with a lot of good content, but none of them were as PACKED with great content as this one. I took tons of notes. Came here because I searched for Robert Cialdini, and as a bonus I discovered you, Lewis. You ask great questions, and you fill in with great comments. Looking fwd to explore your other interviews. Thanks a lot for this! 😊
Cialdini has always been a gemstone of knowledge on influence.

I'm a giver, and not that many people that I've known or know actually give back. There are much more takers then give backers!!
@akaalun
2 жыл бұрын
I know what you are talking about, Jennifer. But there are give backers still out there, right? From what you're saying it sounds like you're suffering from toxic relationships. You're probably feeling more obliged than you should. And it is you and only you to choose the people you want to see around yourself. You choose what and whom to pay your attention and time to. So water the flower not the weeds like Buddhists say. Best luck! I hope you'll find your way!

one that he said that i feel that you can use is in stead of saying “No problem” say “Its okay, I know youd do the same for me” it makes them more inclined to do something for you in return

I had asked weeks ago about how I'd market my art so that it would sell and people would come back and my brain exploded just listening to this. I knew there was a missing piece of the marketing puzzle in my business and I believe I just got it.

Holy asking for advice instead of feedback. Everytime I ask for feedback even if I say please critique I always get positive answers. Looking forward to trying out asking for advice instead of feedback
I wholeheartedly tell you this!!! Your podcast makes my life better and my relationships so much richer and your transparency is very admirable and I aspire to be more and more transparent myself and have a growth mindset. Lewis, I subscribed ages ago but i just finally turned all the notifications on. Yours is the best podcast.
this is simplistic beyond belief.
This is an amazing interview. I read a lot of the reviews and everyone is correct. Everything is so interesting and gives me new ideas every day on how to run my business and also start more business. I love the popcorn story and the Boy Scout one.
Happy new year to you. I've been listening to your content for months and I am learning a lot. Your content is more shareable because it is not punctuated with expletives like some others. I can listen without headphones so that my children can hear it. Also you have a cute smile. Keep up the good work and thank you.
So useful for all of us. I love listening to you and your guests Lewis! Even though it’s a longer podcast, I take the time during my workouts to listen, and then carry on in the car.

Omg great video thank u sooo much. Knowledge is power
I love how he primed or primes everybody by the books he has behind him; everything is in I think Japanese or numbers, but the only books that are in English are his persuasion book. Kudos!! I love this guy and his research!!Damn I just realized that all those books say persuasion in different languages!!!
I've been learning a lot from your videos, Lewis! I love the content and your guests are the best of the best. I love the Boy-scout story, pretty funny and so true. Once you make people commit to what they're saying, you get accountability. No one was to be seen as someone that doesn't follow thru. Huge fan of your content :)

Genius. Witty-full Sir. Subtle re-phrasing makes a huge difference. These are all fine, human manners WE should embrace every day. One of favorite episodes from Lewis's portfolio. Thanks Le'.
