Lyrics:
I'm a heartbreak beat, yeah, all night long
And nobody don't dance on the edge of the dark
We've got the radio on and it feels like love
But it don't mean a lot and it feels like love and it's all that we've got
There's a heartbreak beat playin' all night long
Down on my street
And it feels like love got the radio on
And it's all that we need
There's a heartbreak beat
And it feels like love
There's a heartbreak beat
And it feels like love

I am 48 years old and I played this song on the juke box while I was out with my best friend, Billy at a club and he was 75 years old. Before I put this song on, I asked him if he ever heard of it (becuz of our age gap) and he shook his head no. When this song started to play Billy immediately got out of his chair and we both danced together until the song ended. RIP my dear best buddy I will never forget you. Thank you for dancing with me I will miss you always. He just passed away yesterday from cancer. Age is just a number and friendship is priceless. This song and him will touch my heart forever. Long Live Billy!!

The music from the 70s and 80s was fabulous. I started listening to Bowie when Ziggy Stardust first came out. I listened to the Psychedelic Furs from their start. I was born in 56, so I was in high school in 1970. Groups like the Psychedelic Furs were not pop, so most people never heard of them. Tears for Fears, Echo and the Bunnymen, Modern English, Midnight Oil, Simple Minds, The Call, etc. These are all alternative. Some became big, some didn't. Many, many more never made it big, but were fantastic. James! Oh, no, how could I forget the Pretenders?? They were my first alternative/punk band.

MAN, SO MANY MEMORIES bonded to the furs,my beautiful wife (then my girfriend) and i ,walking the streets of monterrey, mexico by night, dancing, watching her green eyes talking to me in a lenguaje we both knew, kissing each other and holding her fragile hand...ah,her face, her hands, always warm,so soft and so pale, holding them was a pleasure, because they were our "permanent connection" everywhere we went to...so many things we lived together as a couple... now that she is gone from this world, things like our music is a precious bond with her memories,... sometimes, thinking to myself, like in this rainy night,i get to think that it is in the small datails where her magic resides, in every rain drop that soakes me and make my own tears invisible where her soul can get in touch with me,once more, covering my entire self with her escence, with her tenderness, just like before... thanks for the memories, thanks for sharing this masterpiece...

When music had "PASSION" 80's music was the Best music ever! Don't you agree????
This is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Richard Butler has such a distinctive voice. The Furs had so many great songs.
I'm 54 years old and I woke up this morning humming this song last time I remember hearing It I was on the radio in my early 20s
The miserable day and a frustrating night that refuses to end. The radio is on, the car windows cracked open to let in the crisp autumn air, and I'm waiting for the turn arrow so I can be home in about 45 second afterwards. This song comes on, the windows are rolled down, and the volume is cranked up to disturb the night. I stay on the main road and drive past my turn so I won't wake up the neighbors. I drive about a quarter-mile out of the way before I turn back towards home. As I make the turn into my neighborhood the last notes fade away. For such an awful day it ended so sweetly. Thank you FirstWave on SiriusXM. This was the song I needed.

80's musicians tended to really do an amazing job rockin' the sax, while cleverly integrating it into modern music it seems. Horn instruments also experienced a brief renaissance during this era and helped create some of the most appealing music ever.
Hearing this again after many years and the beginning sends shivers down my spine. So much of the music in the 80's was just so joyful. I think that's what is missing today. The music today is like a paint by numbers picture. You recognize it as 'music' but there is rarely any soul and joy in it.

Fist bump! So true .
This 80' s stuff is superior to today's music--so real, I feel sorry for today's kids who missed out on this! Hope their parents show it to 'em.

Thank you Peace, Happiness and Prosperity right back at you😊
One of those tunes that captures the moment, the age, like an anthem. I was just a lad of 34.
This is a total cruisin song. Takes me back to the days in the Olds Cutlass.

Had a 68 Chevelle , restored one for the trip down memory lane ⭐🌠👍 $50k later 😎
I just had a 30 year old flashback. It wasn't from acid either, it was from this awesome music.
