The PRS SE McCarty 594 Singlecut 1 month Later: Still the Best Budget "Les Paul?"

Музыка

After a month of playing on this guitar I wanted to make an update, and report back on whether I still think this guitar is as amazing for the money as I initially thought it was! I still love this thing.

I’ve had no issue with mines for almost 6 months now. Out the box it was playable all I had to do was lower the bridge. It has noticeably improved my playing in my opinion. Plays all the way through . I prefer the chunkier necks too. Great review btw.

I have that exact guitar and I love it. I have 4 other electric and this is my favorite at the moment. BTW, I have small hands and I love the neck on this guitar. I tried one in the local music store but bought online on sale with new customer discount and got it for $593. The shorter 24.594 scale helps with stretches so it helps players with small hands. It has a poly finish but somehow isn't sticky and movement on the neck is easy. Great hum bucker sounds. I highly recommend this guitar.

Strung my Heritage Cherry edition with pure nickel strings. Works so well with the low output pups.

Just running standard EB Slinkys on mine, 10-46. The pickups are great for what they are. Honestly, the way the coil taps and controls interact with them is, meh? I'd suggest swapping in a slightly hotter bridge pickup. P.R.S. himself actually went back in this specific model, after its initial release. To rewind the neck pickup a little hotter. His reasoning was this models construction warrants it. It's an attempt to brighten what he perceived was a slightly dark tone. I'm considering switching the pickups position around in mine first, to see if it helps enough? If not, I'll keep the hotter of the 2 (the neck) pickup in its original position, and toss a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge. It's by far my favorite bridge pickup for LesPaul style guitars.

It's got the same sharp edges all the way around, like a Les Paul. I have a LP. Compared to a Strat, it's painful to hold.

I have been looking at one of these for ages, but I am unsure, haven't found the one that gels with me as of yet. Would love to get a core DGT though

I just bought the exact same guitar for beans because someone swapped in EMG passive pickups and yeah, i have a feeling the neck is going to be polarizing now I'm super curious about what mine sounds like in comparison... I wouldn't even classify mine as sunburst.... darker edges and the white binding... (ordered online cuz of price, but I was hoping I'd be pleasantly surprised when it came... meh, looks "ok" but nothing like those other PRS finishes you see

Stainless steel frets required, otherwise very nice guitar.

To be fair it's not sunburst. It's tobacco.
