    Important to keep your abbs tight, breathe in before lifting and exhale while you bring the bar up. Great video.

    Too good and covered most of the details. On the last point, it also helps keeping plate(s) below the weights on both ends of the barbell to adjust the height of the barbell especially when there are no bigger plates available to use for deadlift.

    i see when you set up in the starting position you lean over the bar, is it best to lean over the bar or try to sit back into the deadlift starting position with a more parallel angle to the floor but still maintaining a 45 degree angle with the legs? or is it just more personal preference?

    I got a stress fracture in my lumbar from deadlift and after it healed I started doing rack pulls rather than going straight back to conventional deadlift. I feel like rack pulls allow me to build my upper back, traps, grip without putting my lumbar spine at risk.

    Assalamulaikum, I have a confusion regarding deadlift. when going down(to be specific- the the bar is below my knee) after the lift should i guide the weight through gravity or should i still control the speed of it going down. because, when i try to control it, i feel that my form is compromised and i feel stress in my lower back, which should not happen as per my knowledge about deadlift. looking forward to getting your suggestions.

    Doing deadlifts with a hex bar that has a hook grip is better, safer, more comfortable, and achieves the same results. It's much easier to keep your back straight while you have the weight distributed on your hands while they are at the sides of your body. One of the biggest misconceptions and complaints about the hex bar deadlift is that you can't go as deep with it compared to a conventional barbell deadlift, which isn't true. To go deeper with a hex deadlift, instead of using 45lbs weights, use either 35lbs or 25lbs weights depending on how deep you want to go. Another option is to just stand on a platform.

    When you talk about the shoulders being shrugged back, basically scapula are squeezed? And if doing it that way is wrong can tell me why please. P.S. I would still love to see a video on doing dips.

  • @HolidayFortnight

    Shoulders should be down and back, with your shoulder blades flat. It's the same reason why you wouldn't want to deadlift with bent elbows or a rounded back. Basically you're taking all the slack out of the body to create the most amount of tension. This is where you'll be at your strongest for the deadlift. If you need to pull a stone from point A to B, a strong (tense) metal wire would be way more useful than a flimsy string. Notice how the string is only useful once you pull it enough to where all the slack has been taken out. But something even more tense like a metal cord would be even better.

    But my arms are so short, and my torso so long, that I have to squat lower just to get a grip on handle. Do you recommend I some how raise the bar/weights?

  • @MindPumpTV

    @MindPumpTV

    Жыл бұрын

    You could certainly raise the bar by stacking plates or lifting off of a low wrack, however it would be more advantageous overall to work on improving your mobility to get lower in a stable manner.

    Referring to pulling/lifting the bar from higher position than a conventional deadlift by placing it on the bars of a squat rack. This is great way to reduce the depth necessary to perform the movement if you lack the mobility to perform the deadlift properly.
