    They skipped the part of history when Toyota used to buy pistons from HONDA in the 50's while honda wasn't even a car company yet, cause they were the best pistons out there, created by Honda's Founder, SOICHIRO HONDA!

    The market is so large that Toyota themselves sell pre-owned vehicles too. A few years ago, you needed a third-party company to import on your behalf or buy already imported vehicles from their lots. In fact, my car is a pre-owned 2005 Allion. It still runs just fine.

    It’s a shame the innocent people of Japan had to be collateral damage because of the stubbornness of their leaders regarding World War Two, the attack on Pearl Harbor and the ultimate bombing to end the war. After the war the people of Japan with humility and integrity began rebuilding their lives. Men like Toyota and Honda are two examples of men of humble beginnings built massive success in the Japanese Auto industry.

    Electrica cars are not feasible (yet) - especially since the infrastructure - like the grid cannot handle it; and we are burning coal to fuel them. Furthermore the range of current electric cars is not too good. Finally considering the manufacture and “recycling” of the battery (dumping it in a pit near the lithium mine in Africa and then mining more lithium), the carbon footprint and other pollution considerations of a (ex.) Preious is as large or larger than that of a Tacoma or even Tundra. By the time the technology is developed (for real) Toyota will be “just in time,” analogous to their manufacturing process.

  • @peterroberts2952

    @peterroberts2952

    @@1Barsamian It's happening now. Battery tech is developing at a fast pace. China will be full electric by 2025. 'Just in time' led to supply chain problems during covid and in the war. With the split and trade war started by the USA companies are moving away from just in time disruption. Battery tech is developing extremely fast. Grid and home energy storage is a reality, and battery material science is where it's at for all time. This is the holy grail. Recycling is actually profitable. I love Toyota, I hope you're right, but I dont see the moves being made to secure the resources or partnerships for competing. BYD from China is making the new electric Corolla. That says to me, BYD will probably buy the Toyota brand to save it.
