The minutes that they put in to be able to become craftsmen must have been brutal. To be able to open and close valves and pour from tea kettles with the absolute precision they do is just outstanding.

Paraffin wax shrinks terribly as it hardens ... thus the pokey things and the re-pouring ... what a cool operation ...

@@tombuick1914 - that's a subtle point of pouring paraffin, one of my first candles developed a vacuum in the center, sucked the wick, melt pool, and any small flying insects lurking nearby with a "whooshing" sound ... ruined the candle ...

Why are rods pushed into the candles, then the holes filled with more wax?

Because as the wax cools it shrinks but the top layer hardens faster than underneath so they poke holes to open up any voids underneath and then top off the mold.

An empty space develops as the molten wax solidify. The rod is inserted to make way for more wax so that you don’t end up with a hollow candle or a candle with a cavity.

Çocukken evimizde sık sık elektrik kesilirdi. Maddi durumumuz yetersiz olduğu için fazla mum alamazdık. Ben de önceki günlerden kalan bitmiş mumların artıklarını toplar ve elimde yumuşatırdım. İçine ip geçirip küçük mumlar yapardım. Aklıma o günler geldi.

21세기에 양초가 팔려봤자 얼마나 팔리겠어 하고 생각해봤는데 전국에 있는 성당과 절에서 한개씩만 꾸준히 사도 ㅎㄷㄷ

I could be wrong, but it sounds like one of the tracks of ‘Two steps from hell’. Their music is used in everything from BGM, to TV-shows and trailers for AAA movies.

This is amazing I am trying to make on of this similar factory but I can't get the machine run correctly. How do you make a robotic arm stack for the raw material to plate so that overflow of the candle oil be controlled.

10년전에 기계 4대로 양초생산을 했던 적이 있는데, 촬영업체가 혹시 ㅅㅇ인가요... 5860하고 6062를 섞어서 사용했는데, 화면에 가장 많이 나온 원백제품을 생산했었지요. 그땐 초 1개 무게(원백기준)가 1100g에 높이 27cm 기준으로 생산했었네요. 원백이란 초는 사찰과 점집에 많이 들어갔구요. 이 초는 한번 켜두면 7일이상 가더라구요. 기억이 새롭네요. 영상 감사합니다.

Um you realize this is the same factory method they been doing for 200 years, now they replaced the wooden molds with stainless steel.

It seems production could be faster and more efficient...

This is handmade. It takes time. It adds to the value when it's handmade. Anyway it will cost a premium amount for that compared to mass produced cheap candles.

It's a very beautiful production process, but it's not near a craftsmanship. Even with qualified workers, all process were optimized to time and standard stablished with minimized handcrafted steps.
