Their fans cost up to $400 and I completely understand why. This is such an intricate work. I am so jealous of her skills

@@hopeliveshere1121 As a Bengali I can say that our country also has many such handicrafts and cottage industries, all these handicrafts depend on the skill of the craftsman. You may not be familiar with this kind of handicraft, so these things seem very difficult for you.But I think this little fan shouldn't cost that much, $400 would be too much.

This just gave me an idea. Perhaps I can make a miniature fan using used incense sticks and wrapping paper for my art projects. Mine were just folded paper. I’m watching really close how you make your fans. This is why I love watching artists. They always give me ideas.

One must appreciate how much skill and precision go into these timeless art treasures which were once an everyday item. It is sad and unfortunate that these treasures decline because of mass produced commodities without the touch of the master's hand. Such hand made items are imbued with the master's spirit, body and soul, and cannot be found in mass machine production. Alas even in my culture modern materials replace hand made materials sourced from natural substances, in the race for mass production. Thanks for sharing your friends from New Zealand.

It’s so amazing ❣️ Watching this makes me think’s about the summer season! We still have cherry blossoms 🌸 but everyday is also telling us to get ready for the rainy season! After that , the summer season is coming then the autumn 🍂 and the winter. Getting older makes me feel that the day is like an hour and the week is like one day…….. maybe I’m just exaggerated but….. I don’t know why….. the time is passing by so quickly. Watching this video is really good 👍 it reminds me many things, great and happy memories living here in Japan. Thanks for sharing!

How do they know the right time to harvest the bamboo for fan making? Or do they just let it grow and then go out whenever needed. All I really grow in abundance is mint. When it flowers I put the flowers in my tea. Never grew bamboo.

Bamboo grows near the workshop and we go there to get as much as we need when we need it. Therefore, it is not that big a hassle. Growing mint is also fun.

@@Craftsmanship-Process oh! Well that helps that you have a steady source of bamboo at any time. Growing mint is fun. I took cuttings from a neighbor not knowing if it would work transplanting front and back and have been growing it in the front and back for 20 years now. It really knows how to spread. When it grows too much I cut it back and it regrows. When the flowers bloom the air smells wonderful of mint. Bumble bees and honey bees make their rounds on my mint flowers and it’s fun to watch them. I discovered that when I tear the leaves into pieces and rub them between my palms the mint really smells great and mints up my tea faster. Rubbing mint on yourself keeps mosquitos off you too. Very versatile plant.
