I'm surprised, 81years old gentle man....., superb. Very qualitative work that's why I like Japanese technology. Quality is better than quantity. Thank you🙏.
These old master craftsmen have my fullest respect 🙏 It's a shame that hardly anyone wants to learn their art anymore.

The youths grow up in the world that exists now. My father was a Master founder at the James Getty house at Colonial Williamsburg. Makings pewter, brass, bronze, and silver castings by the sand casting method mostly. He learned this trade from a old man who had a speaking impediment from a stroke.

Good luck (Καλή τύχη)
Absolute perfection utilizing the old time honored ways with the addition of only two powered devices.
I am humbled and honored to have seen this Master perform his craft. We are blessed have seen this and thank you
He makes forge-welding look so easy, a true master at work.
I'd be proud to own one of his axes. True Master Craftsman from start to finished product.

I use an axe myself but seing this guy made it...i can say that the quality of the metal itself when sharpened was exceptional. You can really see the years of experience of the gentleman. Cheers from philippines

A beautiful thing to watch. The knowledge and craftsmanship is a privilege to witness and as an ex engineer, I could almost smell the processes. The skills and the discipline he displayed are something we have lost in modern life. Bravo.
Awesome! To watch a true craftsman at work, everything has a purpose. I watched sections of this many times. Watch the special process of quenching the edge of the axe. The edge is only heated to a red heat, then it is quenched (just the tip) in oil (see the smoke), then fully quenched in water (next tank). If we did a full metallurgical hardness survey we would see changes in hardness from edge to center and differences in grain structure. Just an old guy making an axe? If you can't tell the differences go sit with the other apprentices until you get it.
He makes it look so easy. A master of his craft.
That is very impressive work, and such attention to detail. It's incredible.

Good job
I salute this man
I would love to have one of these. To own an axe that was made by someone of such skill would be an honour.
Not sure why there is whimsical Harry Potter music in the background, but was a cool video regardless.
I was a professional blacksmith for years, specialized in 18th century Knives and belt axes Most of the axes I forge welded out of 3 pieces of wrought iron ( old buggy wheels) and a steel ( broken file) bit welded in for cutting edge I did everything by hand no power hammers Made the handles to of course
I’m sure that a modern factory could produce thousands of identical looking copies every hour, however I know which one I would rather own, use, and pass on to my children.
