Not only they cut each mirror into plenty of circle, but the size gradually change as it reach the top of the ball. Insane job...

I can honestly say I never even wondered how disco balls are made, yet I was totally mesmerised watching this. Very nice!

Dude... Shout out to handmade artisan disco balls. We love you, Japan!

I love how Japan can take anything and step up the game.
Heck yeah! Keep the party rockin'! Thank you for making magic!
Interesting that the drive motor is contained WITHIN the sphere itself. I would think that would pose a bit of an overheating issue. The Harry Potter-esque music makes it magical! Thanks for sharing!
I was surprised at how much is done by hand true artistians/craftsmanship 👏👏 ❤❤
difficult to watch someone wearing gloves so close to metal that could snag it on such a massive lathe!

I imagine it'd be better than having ur hand snagged on it, no?
@MarcoTedaldi
@@Selvepnea Risk of snagging a hand is much lower than snagging a glove. A snag rips off part you your skin. Bad, hurts but heals back up. A glove doesn't rip, it will pull you with it. Best case: it will rip your hand off. But it could also be your arm or basically your whole body under that ball... Wearing Gloves is great, except when it isn't.
I love to see craftsmen at work. I wish you success and a strong business.
Beautiful!💜
Wow, that there's so much craftsmanship in those!
The amount of handcraft for making these mirrored balls is impressive! Beautiful work and the process was surprising. My favorite video of yours!
Un grand merci pour la vidéo!

Parabéns!!! Belíssimo trabalho ❤
Fine craftsmanship! I had no idea these were handmade.
I'm always impressed how the Japanese people worked with pride and quality. It's simply amazing.
This is just great.

I loved this, it brings very nice memories from my teen age years in the late 80's. ❤

look how small his metal spinning lathe is!!! amazing! @#$

Very cool thanks for sharing.
As far as disco balls go, that's the best looking one I've ever seen 👍
SO labour intensive 😱
Japanese workers be thinking: "These Americans will buy ANYTHING!"
interesting process. placing the mirror circles on the metal ball and then applying the cement ,reminded me of doing a Mosaic art piece, with small ceramic tile squares. did not realize that the Motor is inside of the ball. always thought it was up in an attic, and the down-rod on the ball was attached to it, through a hole in the ceiling. I have learned something here. thank you for an interesting video my friends in Japan 😀

Ya, I have a very cheap version, the globe is most likely just cardboard, and the mirrors are square and very crudely placed. The motors on mine are on the outside though, bilt into the hook mechanism. I actually had to replace one of the motors, thankfully its no big deal. These mirror balls though are obviously top notch, and a work of art compared to mine. Although I've been using mine for over 30 years now, I didn't appreciate the labor involved in the cheap ones I owned, and how much more labor is involved in these works of art.
Cool ! I have a fever now. ..🕺
That was awesome!
Very nice ball. love the metal internals and circular mirror. Cheap balls use polystyrene and square mirror, the shape of the reflected light's just aren't the same. 👍👍
I'm surprised that no protection glasses are used! An incredible process and great human technique.

Such precision manufacturing and fit. Probably better engineered than Sputnik back in the day.
Wow...who knew?! So interesting to watch. I'll take one small mirror ball please!
Wow, they use metal spinning to make the two halves. I would have thought that using something like hydroforming was much more efficient both in terms of time and cost.

A lathe is much cheaper than a high pressure setup. You'd need also a die for each diameter, parts like that are ridiculously expensive.

Low volume production. Not worth the $100,000 plus for each die to be made for them to be pressed out. If you wanted cheap plastic vaccuum-formed bases then China or Thailand are where you'd be shopping.

It's the circles cutting that could be so much more cost effective if done by a CNC (or a similar process).
Processus manuel incroyable !
I love mirror balls. I like the idea of a circular mirror. Perhaps a surface first mirror would look sharper?
very cool!
Japan is always No 1 .
These are quality mirror balls.
I need one for my room now. I must have one 💃
Man, imagine being 76 and still not even close to retirement.
I wish I was a mirror ball, so when the world shines a light on me I shine in return
well done , thats a quality product ,,, when the mirrors started to fall off my last 1m mirror ball as the glue dried out , it revealed a polystyrene globe of the world ,,, I wasnt impressed at all.
It’s a manufacturing factory!
Today was how old I was when I learned the motor for spinning the balls is inside of it, and not exterior. Always thought it was something in the ceiling which spun the rope/pole as well as the ball
They should have disco playing all the time in that shop.
It's amazing how many of these cottage industries there are in Japan. Now that disco is over, I suppose there'd only be room for one manufacturer . . .

Dancing close in a fairly dark smoke filled room with Frank Nagai crooning Tokyo naito kubaru with Matsuo Kazuko. Would absolutely need one of these to complete the atmosphere! Anyway, mirror balls, being outstanding quality like these ones, or even cheap ones are highly underappreciated! Such a simple thing from a technical view, so played out in the 70's discos. But I bet slow dancing to Vera Lynn in a dance hall with one of these felt pretty amazing. But the beginning goes all the way back to 1917!
