I was originally skeptical but this video is 100% accurate. I have low and medium pile carpets. I also have a V15 Detect. I can tell you that with the V15 I always have on AUTO and the medium pile have gate in middle and works perfectly. On the low pile I fully close gate and get great cleaning. I just bought the Gen5 and will be returning to the store. The suction and/or brush on the floor attachment won't operate properly. Keeps on shutting down. Hardwood floors, not an issue, just if you have carpet is where the problem occurs.
Tayyab ur gonna upset so many Dyson fan boys brother!!!!!!! They are not gonna accept this and will blame you! Trust me. So many of them Dyson lovers are gonna be so bothered by this LOL I'm glad you are showing this consumers need to know. I myself would not want to buy one! Stick with my Dyson V8 for daily quick cleans and SEBO Felix upright for a proper deep clean. I have a V11 but don't really ever use it!
THANK YOU for your frank , honest review! It infuriates me that Dyson change the fittings so all the money spent on accessories previously is wasted ,not to mention it is NOT good for the environment. Come on Dyson DO YOUR BIT for the environment and loyal customers- TOTALLY LET DOWN!!! Excellent review!!
I went for the gen 5 because with the ball up right it pulls my back and twists it and is too heavy and bulky to carry up stairs, I find the gen 5 has perfect strong suction and nothing scrapes like he said. I think his must be faulty I haven’t come across any of the problems he describes , as for cleaning to car I use the DC 49 . Use the correct dyson for the job 😊
Very design flawed
Bro you should work for dyson!!!😅 The cordless gen 5 is for rich poeple who live in SMALL HOUSES.
Seeing this video after buying my wife the gen5 detect for Christmas, I was a little concerned as we have thick, shaggy carpet. However, we haven't had any issues at all. This thing breezes through everything, even with the gates at the default/medium setting. Maybe this guy just got a dud, or they've improved the design since? Ours has been excellent in every way. Truly, an impressive piece of machinery. 👍 Hopefully, it'll last for years to come!
Yesterday I grabbed a henry 200 from a skip it's in ok condition👍
You need to work for Dyson!
I can't honestly believe how hideous Dyson have made their machines now. So disappointing.
This is the best review I've seen for this Gen5 Detect. Sadly, "Vacuum Wars" and most other channels don't cover the major problems. Great job!!!
Always learning so much from your videos!!!
Very good review. I believe the term you are looking for with the cleaner head is 'agitation', as this is what causes the dirt to dislodge from the carpet and is just as vital as suction power.
I have the gen5 and the Animal 3 and you nailed everything right on point.
Thank you for the video, this was very informative for me.
You deserve a comment on this honest review video, mate! I hope Dyson watches this video and gets your opinion for future cordless vacuums. Thank you
Wow this was a surprise! Now I totally agree with you how Dyson really needs to design cordless upright. They know how to make really good uprights and they have very good cordless technology. I am actually surprised why only stick format cordless vacuums from Dyson and not a single cordless upright. Cordless Dyson upright would be a smash hit! And my biggest issue with any stick vacuum is all the limitations + handle weight. Very good video 👌
Honestly saved me $1000. Thanks!
The fact that such great individual bits of technology (Hyperdymium motor, anti tangle technology, particle counter, laser illumination) are being put on a final product that is so flawed makes me cry a little inside.
I love the rant
