This looks awesome. Just got back from a bikepacking trip in the WestFjords of Iceland myself - I made a film too if anyone’s interested! The landscapes are so different depending where you are! You certainly had better weather than I did 😂

Awesome! What I love is seeing you keep smiling even though some random little thing is threatening to ruin your day. It's not the obstacles, it's how we deal with them. Great race!

I'll stick to mechanical for touring and offroad bikes for the very reasons of batteries. Sometimes you've just got to get off and push.

Lesson #1 Always check batteries!!!!!!!! Beautiful ride. I am so glad that you overcame the problem and caught the group and had a wonderful ride.

That bit at around 9:15 is fantastic, I loved that part!

4:00 - 4:30 the best scenes in the video were when you found that beautiful little waterfall, followed by spotting the first other riders -- your smile and the change in your voice said it all

Well done Juliet, what a fantastic effort after a difficult start.

You're an inspiration, Juliet. The trouble is, I need much more than inspiration nowadays. Just an hour on the bike and my legs ache for a couple of days. (Sixty years ago, I could ride a 100 mile TT, then go on the club run, and be fine the next day. Grrrr.)

I’m a big fan and your humble optimistic and gracious attitude despite some difficulties just makes me a bigger fan! I’m a 35 year old women and I really look up to you.

Thought I saw you on the route (I was one of the guys in the background at 13:11). Absolutely amazing work on catching up from the delayed start and getting in way before the overall time cut. Speedy. Also, the washboard was hell. It will forever me in my nightmares.

It ain’t over till it’s over! Congratulations on catching up, completing, and having such a good attitude. It would be easy to allow frustration to dominate in those situations so it’s lovely to see you still laughing and enjoying it☺️

I had lots of mechanicals doing this too - and had resigned to enjoying the spectacular scenery quite early on...! You have captured so well all the highs and lows of the ride - good job on making the cut off for the 200 - and thank you for the super friendly, loud and cheerful "Hi" as you came flying past me.

Oh Juliet, you are so disorganised but we all love you. That looked like an awesome ride and you lucked out with the Icelandic weather which can be brutal. 👏👏👏

Spin that wheel 🤣 - Mechanical Failures - Navigational Issues (not following the bike computer) - Navigational Issues (disagreeing with what the bike computer says) - Arriving late with Coffee - Arriving late without Coffee - More mechanical failures But I still like watching cycling in interesting places 😛

Great job! I’ve been thinking about doing that since I got my Lauf bicycle two years ago. But after seeing how difficult it is in some parts, I will just enjoy it vicariously.

My Kingdom for a cable shifter :) Yeah seen a few videos of the Iceland terrain now.. Deff need some sort of practical methods of getting out of trouble if things go pear shaped say if you were doing same route when the only back up is yourself ! Wild as it gets

That looked a mint race. What an environment to cycle through - well done.

Love Iceland ran midnight half marathon 2018. Love to ride this event have to have a think about it.

Great Video. I'm thinking of entering this race this next week. What do you think is the best choice for tyres? Faster with minimal tread or something with a bit of grip? I've raced DH and Enduro for years so I'm not adverse to sliding around a bit if need be 😂.

Thanks! I’d recommend it, was brilliant. I think I had 45c WTB Raddlers and they felt spot on. By contrast, I went narrower with less tread for The Traka

How good are you? Just catch up to everyone, take a few pics, talk to your phone, finish 200kms. Sweet as, no worries. 😎Legend!! 🤘

Make a note to add a coin / tool to your kit bag to remove the battery :) pointless to advise to check the batteries before every ride because we are humans and we forget stuff.

Did you try any traditional Iceland food such as fermented shark, horse or whale?

Good for you on keeping a positive frame of mind. I had a blast but did struggle on the section I call the "rock garden" just before first asphalt. I agree that the last 100km is really hard.

I can’t believe how a bike rider of your calibre, experience can be so disorganised. You need an assistant to ensure your gear is checked

Thats why i dont like electronic shifting gear!

We have lived to the point that bicycles without batteries do not work.

They also don't work with Flat Tyres, Snapped Cables, Broken Chains... All of these things (inc Batteries) I carry spares for and have tested plans on how to fix 🤓

Electronics on a bicycle. What a load of bollox hey? Just say no - keep bicycles analogue.
