The Price is Right - September 15, 1994

Ойын-сауық

Inspired by TVLubber2 I've decided to post this today instead of this weekend in celebration of TPIR's 41st anniversary. The Thursday episode from the season 23 premiere week. Enjoy!

    At 22:25, Bob receives a ball cap from a contestant. I remember once, a woman who made it on stage had a ball cap that she made herself for Bob. It was a green ball cap with the TPIR logo on it. She also had one that she made for Rob. It was glittering gold ball cap as Rob always wore those glittery or shiny jackets. Later on in the show, Rob was even seen wearing it.

    37:25 - Imagine being the stagehand they put in the trailer. They're just sitting in there for minutes, surrounded by inflated beach balls, hearing all sorts of muffled and echoy commotion outside, just watching the door and waiting for Gina to open it... and then BOOM! It's showtime! "Time to start chucking out those beach-balls, Stagehand! Keep it up until the trailer is totally devoid of vinyl spheres! "

    It took less than five years to retire four-digit cars during the Dice Game during the 1980s ever since the first five-digit car was offered as the "Deluxe Dice Game", however as of 2021, sub-$20K cars are still offered even though its been a much longer timespan. I suspect that with the latest round of inflation, the days of sub-$20K cars on Dice Game may be over by the next model year. Speaking of which, that reveal almost reminds me a bit of the "broken" Dice Game playing in 1983 where each number would be revealed after it was rolled.

    We'll likely see some that start with a 3 more often especially in the Dice Game since they can't go in the 26,667 to 31,111 range.

    When Rod Roddy was the announcer; the opening message says 1986-1998: Here it comes! Television most exciting hour of fantastic prizes! 1998-2003: Here it comes! On the Bob Barker studio at CBS in Hollywood! Television most exciting hour of fantastic prizes! But later when Burton Richardson is occasionally PIR's announcer (2001-2003) after Roddy's death all other guest announcers, until Rich Fields arrived, they corrected the opening message: Here it comes! From the Bob Barker studio at CBS in Hollywood! Television's most exciting hour of fantastic prizes! Later since season 38 started the opening message says: Here it comes! From the Bob Barker studio at CBS in Hollywood: It's the Price is Right!

    cfto also aired tpir in the GTA around in the late afternoon in the late 80s..i.remember seeing the following updates to the series on canadian tv before cbs aired them..... 1.bob's first white haired episode 2.the updated "superball" pattern big wheel panels (first recall seeing them in may or june of 1988 where cbs didn't show them until the new season start in september) 3.the change of the ticket plug from the beginning to the end of the first showcase showdown....

    Alexander James-Palmer: i would say it was around 1990 or so when CHCH picked up TPIR and aired it at 11am like CBS affiliates (WROC which had just switched from NBC to CBS affiliation then) and WIVB stateside....the disadvantage of switching TPIR over to CHCH was that if i recall right CHCH wasn't available in huntsville, wiarton, owen sound, and other cottage country locales in the northern reaches of greater toronto....

    Something tells me that Roger had a good talk with Bob after that Dice Game playing, as he basically handed the player the win by changing the rules (the numbers are supposed to be revealed AFTER all the dice have been rolled) as there's no way a repeating 1 would be at the end of a car price.

  • @carexpertandy

    @carexpertandy

    But if the contestant rolls the correct number, then it’s revealed that it’s the number in that position. She could’ve rolled a 1 instead of that 6 for the 4th number and would’ve immediately been told it was correct, then rolling 2 for the last number would’ve still been obviously higher.
