The Prairie By Rachel Ashwell Hotel Review

A video review of The Prairie By Rachel Ashwell Bed and Breakfast Hotel near Roundtop Texas. A very unique B&B with cottages and farmhouses, with a shabby chic design. Located between Houston and Austin Texas.

So blessed to have stayed at The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell. The Seabury Suite was pure bliss to have a good night's sleep in. The grounds were just beautiful and each cottage had it's own charm. The food prepared by Danny was wonderfully delicious and the hospitality was warm and welcoming. The highlight was getting to meet Rachel and enjoy her company. It was a wonderful weekend.

There used to be a weird sales associate named Erin O’Neil in the now defunct Soho location who used to brag about stealing from their own store. She worked across the street from us and she would smoke weed on Wooster Street with her Manager. Bizarre!

I love love love Rachel Ashwell but that hotel looks like the kind of place I like to avoid. If it wasn't her name I don't think I would stay.

Lol whilst i appreciate her aesthetic but yeah this just looks dingy theres nothing chic about that cottage i think she should up her game a bit its pretty basic.

I've been a fan of Rachel Ashwell and own many of her things. Visiting and staying at The Prairie was on my bucket list for years, but when I finally decided to book, this B&B closed (only open for weddings). I could be wrong, but this was what I was told. Now that Simply Shabby Chic is no longer sold at Target, I'm devastated. Just stumbled upon this video and I no longer feel regret for missing out on staying here. I love Shabby Chic and Rachel Ashwell's products, but this is too rustic for me. Online photos and her books, this place looked amazing, but it appears old and creepy in this review.

@@YellowProductions The drawers to dressers were halfway painted. The barn/banquet area looks better than the B&B cottage. Thank you for making this video and giving us a tour.

If you like this sort of thing I guess it's perfect. I hate chipped paint. It just looks a bit ratty to me. There is nothing more refreshing than a fresh coat of paint on things.

It isn't Houston. It's 85 miles from Houston. It isn't The Prairie these days. It was sold to a mental health/rehab facility out of Houston around 2016. Is this guy even from Texas or the South. He acts like he has never been to the county or seen a bug. That place was great while it lasted.

Don't care for his review style - he sounds like a little boy - he is pleasant though. Would have preferred a Lady's review after spending the night. ♥️

I stayed here with my wife.. so we made this together. She runs the camera. So her perspective is in here as well.

Interesting review, but the hotel itself is not my cup of tea. Judging from the fact that it seems to be the only hotel of this style you reviewed, I guess that it wasn't your favorite either. I never heard of Rachel Ashwell and "Shabby Chic" before, but now that I looked into it a little, I feel like there is a bit of a "Emperor's New Clothes"-thing going on there. Maybe I'm just a uncultured swine, but to me Shabby Chic looks a lot like random old garbage. I was born and raised in Germany, among old stuff. One of my aunts lived in a house that was 700 years old, the main building of my elementary school was about 1500 years old (The main stairs were made of massive, about a foot thick granite slabs and they still were so worn down in the middle from all those generations of people walking up and down, that we had to walk at the sides of the stairs.) and there was hundreds of years old furniture and stucco and all that stuff everywhere. It was a bit like growing up in a museum. And I don't like old stuff. Being surrounded by it made me realize early that people hundreds of years ago didn't build the way they built because it was better that way, but because they had no other choice. Rooms had to be small for static reasons and so they were easier to heat. Windows were small because they couldn't make large glass panes. Wood and stone were the only building materials. Poster beds had their own roof so dust or dripping water from the ceiling wouldn't land on the bed and so on. People romanticize old stuff too much. Also, many stick to it because it is save. You won't get accused of having bad taste and being gaudy when you go with antique and vintage stuff, so it is the go to for people who have no taste but are worried what others think of them. If I personally had to chose between pink plastic flamingos and chubby cherub statues, I'd chose the flamingos.

While I like her Victorian - inspired pieces, I absolutely HATE the decor in this “ hotel. “ This hotel should get ONE STAR at best. Talk about rip - offs !
