It's crazy that Tony, Andy, and Roger put together the group originally as a backing band for other famous singers at the time and Liv Tyler's mom was supposed to sing this. Robert Palmer came in to sing lead on a different song, and found out they recorded this and asked if he could just do a demo vocal over their recording. The rest of the group loved it so much they decided to use Palmer as the vocalist for the whole album 🤘
Listen to how brilliantly gritty the chorus is. Trebly splashy drums with thick bass and the scraping guitar mixed with Palmers killer voice. This will never get old at all. Tight as hell.

jefft68022 hours ago As a TRUE Metal Head in the 80's, you certainly haven't listened to too many good Heavy Metal guitar players have you, because the lead section in this song ain't shit. The lead Kinda sucks from a technical standpoint with all due respect to the late Robert Palmer who was great! If I'm not mistaken, Randy Rhodes from Ozzie, Dave Murray & Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden, and Eddie Van Halen were at the VERY TOP of the food chain as far as Heavy Metal guitar players go from that Era!!! The lead guitar section for this song as well as the guy who played it are not even a pimple on the ass of some of the best Heavy Metal guitar players in the world like those that I just mentioned. Not even remotely close.
The thing I liked about Robert Palmer is that he dressed rather conservatively . He was so damn cool and suave that he didn't feel the need to wear outrageous clothes and funky hairstyles. He was happy to let the other dudes do that. They didn't steal each other's thunder. They shined individually. That's what drew so many of us in.

An excellent cover. Each individual band member makes their own contribution to the song and that helps make the song excellent. I have listened to it hundreds of times over the years and I never get tired of it. The Power Station was one of the greatest Super Groups of all time.

Thank you for your comment! I completely agree with you that each member of The Power Station brings something unique to the song, just like how the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series offers versatile power solutions for outdoor enthusiasts. It's great to hear that you never get tired of the song, and I believe you'll have a similar experience with the reliable and powerful Cube Series from Segway. It's definitely worth considering for your outdoor adventures and home backup power needs. Happy camping!

He was the frontrunner to take the place of John Bonham when Zeppelin were looking into getting back together in the mid-80's but Tony was in a bad car accident and the reunion stalled, mostly because of that.

Lorne Armstrong - 222830 - Well, whatever your point was, Thompson was a complete 'Animal' behind the kit. Whether or not someone can play in odd time signatures has absolutely nothing to do with talent.

He doesn't get too much of a mention in Nile Rodgers book, which is a same as thought two and Bernard Edward's were the tightest motherfuckers out there. This is also excellent.
ONLY Tony Thompson can make those drums speak like that!!! No one played HARDER!!! R.I.P. 🙏🏿
I feel that Robert Palmer left us far too soon. I think of both his vocal style and visual style as exemplary. Riveting. He was somehow above it all and it was GREAT. Rest in peace Mr. Palmer.
