The power of People watching | Craig Twyford | TEDxSquareMile
‘People watching’ is a common activity in virtually all societies, and today technology
has given us more power to vicariously watch people than ever before.
Here, Craig Twyford tells us about how his JamJar Story Project is creating a digital record of everyday life in the 21st century.
At present people commonly share only the
exceptional and the remarkable online, but by sharing the everyday he says, we can connect with each other’s similarities and with the beauty of those commonplace moments.
Craig Twyford is the director of Octopus Analytics, a research company he launched in 2011. In 2014, inspired by the Mass Observation project, he began the JamJar Story Project, an online digital archive of everyday life in the UK. The archive was launched in June, and recently celebrated its first 200 uploads.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

My guesses: Age: 54, Study: Psychology, Favorite movie: Up (2009), And I like him
Beautiful. Best video I have watched on the subject of observing people.
I'm sure most people would assume he studied psychology in university.

Well i would put him in a science category university student
I want to see more of this kind of thing
Amazing concept
That’s deep.
Beginning of video: Age: late 40's early 50's. Job: no clue, but you're comfortable speaking publicly to a large-ish crowd and good at keeping on track, so I want to say something along the lines of public speaking or teaching possibly history. I have no clue what your favorite movie is, and so far I like you. I wonder how far off I am.

i guessed 40s, major was marketing (public speaking only requires one class not a major) and he clued us in already that he liked that stars wars movie. of course i like him, because he smiles, makes jokes and shows concern about how we the audience feels.

Unusualy, he spelt his name with 2r and 2s - Tom Harrisson
He forgot to give the answer to one question

oh no - which question did I forget?
Question 2 and 3 are not very good questions because I do not him and he right. Question 1: I will say he is around 40. Question 4: I will need to see him more. Acting with his family and friends. Strangers. So I can specifically say: I like him.
He doesn’t say HOW; he just explains WHY.👎
The longer I watched this guy the less I liked him.
Completely wasted 16min ..No Clear Explanation of how to do it,that is why people watch the video
Another 'said nothing' video....verbose and a waste of time - these people do not get to the point and think humor in their speech is effective ~
