i dont study gto a lot, and i dont want to have a perfect balance on my game, but, since i tried to think more about ranges and trying to exploit then, it helped my game a lot, thinking about what you usually have on the spot, and what your oponent usually have and trying to think about sizes this way is really good, and i use soo much those raises, specially all in on the river when the board is paired and u have two blockers for the full house, is really a must bluff.

I do not agree that you using gto inspired play you need to balance your whole range. You can look at population tendencies for sertain spots and adjust frequencys for a superior winrate in most games even high stakes. This is why a crusher will outpreform a gto bot in many cases.

This did not explain why to overbet, at all. Does the value, compared to normal size bets, come from opponent calling or folding more than he should? It can't be both.
@4everNdeavor

It can be, and is, both. If opponent is folding too much the value is coming from them folding. If the opponent is calling too much the value comes from them calling. This is the reason GTO is perfectly balanced.

Where's the +EV compared to normal sized bets though? What is the reasoning behind using a strat with overbets vs normal sized bets? You can be perfectly gto balanced with overbets for sure, but that does not mean it is +EV compared to just using normal sized bets. As example, you can also have a balanced open shoving range preflop 100bb, but it is not + EV and nobody does it

Why do we assume opponents make more (bb wise) mistakes vs strat w overbets than strat without them? It sounds likely, but is that all there is to it? Do we use overbets vs all opponents or is there some key facts to use when picking a strat with overbets, or without them?
@4everNdeavor
10 ай бұрын
@@jimpo1234 If we're trying to play a 100% GTO strategy then we should play the same vs all opponents however it is higher EV to identify specific opponents that make more errors vs this sizing and exploit them effectively. To answer your other comment, I'm not sure, but my guess is maximization of both fold equity and value. We can never be 100% sure why a solver does what it does but we can trust that it will always prefer the highest EV strategy.

@@4everNdeavor solver has no way of knowing that villains make more mistakes vs a strat that includes overbets, than a strat that does not include overbets. So I don't understand how solver could know that a strat with overbets is more +EV.
