I see so frequently a negative image being associated with Charisma. ppl think of it as in they are Narcissists. Which is not the case most of the time. Charm is attractive because it is inherently admired by ppl mainly due to the fact it has a certain Warmth to it.

Around 9 out of 10 times I’ve met so called ‘charismatic’ people, they were manipulative with low to no empathy, showing selfish behaviour and often malicious intent which was hidden under this fake image of a warm, welcoming and generous person that they created. They do generous acts only to build their image, and gather a crowd of admirers. Many of them fool people for a short while, but as you spend time with them, you can see through their facade quickly.

I have it. Why? Because I get a kick out of life, people, nature and the work I do. “Charisma” comes with dancing to the poetry of life, seeing the glass full to the brim, loving irony and humor, basically having a blast every day and passing that energy on to others. I must add having empathy for the tragedies, too. I laugh and cry equally and see everyone I meet as a potential friend. I see the complainers around me but don’t engage. My “charisma” is reserved for others who are creative, active participants in life. I’m not hugely social, but I do love to “connect” - with all kinds of people from all walks of life.

Charisma is a personality trait that is shared by some personalities. Charismatic people do stimulate environments. Con men are always charismatic. Not all charismatic people are con men. Socio, psychopathic personalities have charisma, but are confused with empathy, because it’s about a need for attention. A better skill is listening.

i met a man years ago who had women lining up down the block. I had heard of him by by (then) boyfriend (who HATED him). this guy, Bob, was short, fat, balding, lousy teeth, and always broke...but OH MURDER...so sexy. I knew what i saw was at variance with what i felt, and i wanted to understand what made Bob this sex magnet. Finally, i figured out that it was confidence, willingness to listen, his comedic talent and sense of timing. To sum it up, charisma. After my ex and i broke up i got to know Bob much better, but knew that as much fun as he was, he was a poor bet in the long term. We parted friends and remained so for 40 years until his death. an example of this is singer Tom Jones, singing, dancing, showmanship, sexy as hell even as an old man, confidence made him charismatic. RIP friend Bob and sir Tom, love ya...muriel
