I am 47 and I have been a lone wolf for most of my life since I was a boy; and I love my solitude and never feel lonely or bored. All my heroes and role models have been outsiders, renegades and mavericks. As the years have rolled on, the solitude has become more and more peaceful . I have people in my life; a kindly family and cherished friends and some lovers along the way but no one who is consistently by my side from day to day. I would find this a difficult thing to bear and an intrusion. I love the quietude, solitude and sanctity of my home on the beach in Oman in which I live alone and independent. I say my prayers every day and express my gratitude to god that I am neither sky-high deliriously happy nor steeped in emotional turmoil ; I’m neutral and on an even keel. Subtle contentment lasts a lot longer than heightened happiness ever does.

Interesting point of view from a person who thinks of himself as independent, but he still felt the need to share and connect 😋 and yes i see the difference between aloneness and the latter. Being independent, and alone, doesnt mean to be disconnected, and never to feel. Being neutral is like lukewarm water. To be centered is it the same as being even? Disconnected is neutral. The gratitude you mention isnt neutral..is it? (Ps. Not critisizing, but like i said, very interesting point of view, and a good topic for discussion 👍).

Once I conquered being alone comfortably for so long, it has become difficult to be around others long term. It’s very uncomfortable being in long term romantic relationships, yet those relationships reveal things to me that I couldn’t have realized about myself just being alone. A balance of both, from my human experience, is very important.

I have got 3 classmates, but after being being backstabbed by them 3 years ago,i prefer being alone. That's how I started to be alone journey and looks like you all are also like me (surely i am not alone😄) P.S. - If God hadn't given me the opportunity to be alone, neither i will know the difference between toxic people and nice people nor i get to discover that my mom,who was with me always but i never considered her as a friend but strictly as a mom can be my lifelong best friend ❤️. Interesting, my experience was quite the opposite, the more I am content within myself, the less offensive others seem. SadGuru stated it simply in an older video lesson. My problems of discontentment do not source from things happening around me, however they are created from within as a response to external affairs. He once called this our FUNDAMENTAL PREDICAMENT IN LIFE, SHOULD I TURN INWARD? Or squander my life away with external affairs? After all Cabera Fitness, It is turning outward rather than inward that lead you to create this post!

Enjoying being alone breaks all co-dependency to all things and people. The greatest fear people have is loneliness. Release that fear and then you are free. Then you can truly enjoy being with others.

This man has the power to truly inspire people. His words act as fuel for me to engage with life again. My predicament is that I have such mentally weak parents that I cannot even talk to them about serious topics that are bothering me, they simply breakdown themselves if I bring up such topics. Because of their introvert nature, I was also not able to form friendships so that I can share my thoughts with friends. I hope I will get out of this problem someday. Till then, I hope words like Sadhguru's can sustain me.

I have often said that to many people who look at me strangely and tell me that I shouldn't be alone as its unhealthy. I have never been more happier and at peace with myself. When I am alone I am not lonely. It's not the same thing. Being able to choose when to disconnect from toxicity and negativity is the power of being alone. I have few trusted friends and I am never lonely even when I am alone
