King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette are two of my favorite royalty from history. They have been wronged by the revolutionaries and that wrong has been perpetuated throughout the past 200+ years. As an aside, I homeschool my children and have refused to use certain history texts/publishers because they repeat the lie that Marie Antoinette said, "Let them eat cake". I'm still amazed that they can even print that and consider it a good history text.

@@user-sm7og6fi3j ...The Catholics who were murdered were not murdered because they wouldn't renounce Christ. the ones who were murdered were the ones who agreed with the banishment of the Jesuit;s, the very reason for the French Revolution to begin with. In 1773 the Pope of Rome had to reluctantly banish the Jesuit's or face a world wide Catholic Revolution. In 1814, after Napoleon had marched through Europe placing his Masonic and Jesuit puppets on the thrones of Europe, the Pope reinstated the order of Jesus {Jesuit's} in the reformation act.

Queen Marie Antoinette's last words speak volumes about her character. When Marie Antoinette accidentally stepped on her Executioners foot. She whispered to the man: “Pardon me, sir, I didn't mean to.” Those were her last words. They are as revealing as King Louis XXVI's last words. "Gentlemen, I am innocent of everything of which I am accused. I wish that my blood may be able to cement the happiness of the French."

Actually MA did say : « let them eat brioche » (egg loaf). She like all French royals of that time was believed to possess the same miraculous power of curing diseases and wounds through hand laying and contrary to others she did believe in that kind of faith healing and practiced it. The poor walked long pilgrimages through France in the hope to be cured of boils or of other nasty skin diseases through her hand laying. After having been hand laid she used to give those poor people loaves for their return trip. One time the castle’s baker had forgotten to bake bread for them. She said « Don’t worry, let them go with the egg loaves we have in surplus ». Alas Benjamin Franklin who lived in Paris and was her arch-enemy by jealousy wrote a series of articles reporting the same piece of news in the better known false and disparaging way to the anglophone press of both continents which he influenced heavily.

You are only half right about Marie Antoinette not saying 'Let them eat cake'. Those exact words she did not say; but she did have a discussion about this topic. I learned about this back in the late 1960s at University. My French History professor pointed out that she was having a discussion with one of her husband's Ministers (can't remember his name. Much too long ago). He told her that the people were starving. She asked the Minister "Have they no cake to eat?" This may sound like a heartless thing to say but she was trying to find out something important about the economic state of France. It was French law at the time that bakers could not throw out their leftover pastries at the end of the day. They had to distribute the unsold excess among the poor for free. The point was, if the bakers could not afford to bake some surplus (which would be distributed to the poor) then the economic situation in France was far worse than the government imagined. So, yes, Marie Antoinette did talk about about the poor eating cake. She just didn't say the phrase for which she is castigated. According to my French History Professor, the "Let them eat cake" story was the result of her trial. A servant who acted as a witness against the Queen and who claimed to be present at the time of the conversation between the Queen and the King's Minister reported she said this phrase in order to create hatred towards the Queen.

As written here 4 years ago the cake-story is fake, but when you do not want it repeated, it does not help to use the word "repeat" 11 times and the expression "let them eat cake" 6 times. Here in Holland we were not told this story, it came as a surprise to me in this video. I believe Marie Antoinette has a much better reputation here in Holland. Most of the "incorrect truth" in this video is a bit trivial, the more as we know history is always written by the conquerer(s). Apart from defending monarchy (defending which is absolutely useless in The Netherlands) you could perhaps shine your light over other politically incorrect items, like the way our western society looks at her "enemies" in Eastern Europe, the Middle East or China.

@Ich Bin Armilus! ...That's debatable. Thomas Paine was English and not even from America, so could he actually be considered a Founding Father? He is also the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, but couldn't receive credit because he was British, and credit was given to Jefferson. There is a hand print on the back of the original Declaration, and most experts believe it is that of Paine as an only way he could sign it. There is a video by James Perloff titled....Freemasonry and the American Revolution where he presents a very compelling case that it was actually Paine who authored it. P.S....All the founding fathers were traitors to America!!!! 5 of the first 6 presidents of America and other important figures like Franklin and Paine were not in America rallying troops for the American Revolution, they were in Paris planning the destruction of the French Monarchy and the subsequent Napoleonic wars. They had to leave Washington in America so he could be portrayed as the hero and Founding Father. One of his first action he and fellow Freemason did was to grant a 20 year charter to the Rothschild for the first National Bank of America, which ended any pretence that America would ever be independent. When the charter was about to run out in 1811, many in America balked at renewing it because it had become ruinous to the country. At this, Nathan Mayer Rothschild sent a message to the Americans that stated....Either the charter for the bank will be renewed, or America will find it self in a disastorous When the Americans balked, Rothschild launched the War of 1812. Although our history books tell us we won, that kicked our ass, and forced us to sign the second charter for the bank. The truth would sicken you.

This guy is a bit sketchy but he is right that she didn't say that. There's no evidence that she said it, nobody in her court ever made the claim. It is significantly more likely that the quote was created by propagandists such as Marat to rile up the people.

A monarchy is such a flawed system but no where near as flawed as what the National Assembly put in place. That said, history really treated the monarchy unfairly during the French Revolution. Learning about it now makes me very lamentful.
