Dear Cecilia. Thank you for sharing. One of my ancestors, Theodor Lerner, was actually a journalist and polar Explorer. He let various expeditions to Svalbard. He spent the polar Night of 1907 in a small wooden Cabin at Cap Boheman with Hjalmar Johansen who had participated a few years earlier in the famous North Pole Expedition of Nansen. Unfortunately, I have still not managed to Visit. Greetings from Germany!

THIS is what I imagine when I think of living in Svalbard… harsh conditions. Obviously you deal with it for a small part of the year but I’m so grateful your content has shown me the other 90% of your realistic life there. Before I would’ve just thought this is all that you experience. Now I know how beautiful it truly is for a majority of your time there (not saying snowstorms aren’t beautiful but let’s be real, they’re not ideal lol) and I definitely understand having to tough out these conditions for the reward you’ll get in late winter/spring. Thanks so much for sharing your life with us Cecilia. It means the world to me as someone from Los Angeles that has no grasp on how to survive in the conditions you do, that you share your content with us and just want others to experience the joy and happiness you feel being there. I feel it, and I love it. Thanks again, Cecilia!

I personally get bent out of shape when, in a Christian State of PA, people sometimes say HH because it seemed like folk have fear, that being PC is paramount as to not offend non-Christians. There is an example where the word "incorrect" does not warrent the modifier "very", which is humorous, but for the joy of the Season, I will skip it. (Season? Oh, Seasons Greetings. I understand why you would walk your dog in the storm .... your accustomed to the weather. You have the correct inner clothing and outer clothing. I live in South Texas, and we have the correct gear for our environment. It was over 100 F during the day for 3 months . We adapt by using fans, drinking water. Light linen clothing. We have adapted and don't mind working outside in the heat.

You say to walk in the storm is okay as long as it isn't dangerous, but to me - going out in the dark, in high winds in bitter cold weather IS DANGEROUS!!

Why is it you aren't using coal? I know hard wood is clean, perhaps the cleanest burning fuel. Heat + water = perfect Heat. Here from Northern Michigan, our heat is propane, but inside is a coal heater with a continuous tank of water. It keeps our house toasty on the coldest, 14 - 20 below f. night, heat with moisture penetrates our soul. Stay warm up there in snowman country. We are settling in here for a 3 point snow storm, to bring high winds and a lot of tons of snow. I like this channel, it is insight into living in the northern most reaches of Earth.

A winter storm is hitting the US right now, even here in the southeast US and it’s unusually cold!! And it’s going to be the coolest Christmas since 1933 in SC, 34 degrees F. Crazy, with wind chills that morning with 0 to 11 degrees F. You’re videos make me feel so relaxed, happy and peaceful ❤🥰 so thank you so much!!!

I love winter and I am so happy to watch someone who loves it equally if not more! ♥️ thank you from the bottom of my heart for these vlogs, they're so calming and full of absolutely awe-inspiring beauty 🌠 I didn't always love winter, bit I feel that when we don't love harsh or wet seasons, it's not the seasons themselves that are problematic, it is us carrying a lot of negativity and struggling to find comfort within ourselves that won't allow us to embrace the cold and the dark. I've grown to love autumn and winter a lot! I feel like i should love winter since I'm a winter baby, my Bday is on the coldest day of the year Right now it is 8:30am and it's -19C, though my google weather app says that "it feels like -29C" hehe ❄️☃️

For Gingerbread House national competition check out the Grove Park Inn in Asheville North Carolina, USA.. every November the USA national competition happens there.. your houses are good and making them in dark winter passes some time plus gives a nice reason to invite friends.. stay warm.. Why do you not burn coal in stove? Heat generation is twice or more than wood.. you still have a coal mine there?? Also, if you have an external air intake to the fire place the room temperature can be maintained with less fuel used..

It's midsummer here in New Zealand but I love seeing how you live and the whole white Christmas thing during polar night. Grim and Fenris are such stars. My little Chihuahua mix would refuse to go outdoors in such a cold climate. Grim's sheer delight in being outdoors with you with all the fascinating scents and sounds is so intrinsically canine. Ears up, tail wagging, nose sniffing - he's such a lucky well loved dog.
