You don't have to worry about poker in Dallas. We have much greater expendable income than most other cities due to lower cost of living comparably speaking. Another factor is we don't have the nightlife of other large cities (NYC, Miami, Vegas, LA) so we tend to stick with our vices. The pros might win in the long run but they are facing a huge mental challenge facing the Dallas guys willing to play any two cards with a deep bankroll, which is something I've never witnessed in any other city including Macau.

Poker pros are coming to Dallas because they view it as a new market, but due to its proximity to Winstar, Dallas is not a new market at all. There were already many pros in Dallas. Also, multiple rooms have been blocked from opening in Dallas, and only TCH (with half as many tables as Winstar) has done well, which is pretty pathetic considering DFW has close to 8 million people.

There are more card rooms in Dallas than just TCH, more in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. Try some of them for softer games but remember they are still playing Texas style poker. Love your vids and breakdowns, keep them coming.

Love all your videos. I Know you didn’t ask for advice, however, I find that Aquaphor (healing ointment) is awesome for calluses. Before going to bed, smother palms with it, wear cloth thin gloves throughout the night. It will leave your hands soft and callouses will soften as well.

Those are the hands I lost Lex. Winning any one of a couple of hands could've changed my intent to pursue a poker career. One could say the best thing that ever happened to me is that I lost. There was something very pure and cleansing about being busto, once. You learn a lot about yourself when you don't know what the next step is. My next step was back to school. Worked out and now I play without having to consider poker providing for life needs.

You did make a couple of good folds at the beginning. I guess poker is about reads as well, so if your not getting them maybe it's a good thing that your travelling a bit. Break up the monotony of the same places. You remind me of Brad, he takes a loss and wears it on his sleeve. As long as you stay upbeat your experience will come into play. Go crush it in Vegas and California. Good luck and happy holidays Lex.

I don’t play for a living but I had a similar situation. I was newer to poker and played lots of 1/3. I took a shot at Venetian 2/5 one day in March and bought in for $700and was up to about $1500. there was a complete maniac at the table that was shoving blind almost every hand and was already down 6-7k. He four bet shoves on me which I was expecting, I have AK suited and he rolls over KK. Flop is jj6, turn is 2, river A, BOOM! Biggest pot of my life as he had me covered and after that went on a $20k upswing which was awesome

What would be nice to see is how you break-down your hands after you have more experience. There were a lot of misplays here that cost you money, IMO; particularly, what do you think about the amount you bet and your bet timing? You ran your money away with betting hard on limited boards.

That King on the river cost lot's of people tons of money for years after and years to come ! He also did a video a few months ago telling us how to put together a bankroll and what amounts are needed for each level of play. About 8 months ago I couldn't sleep and was fishing on KZread. I found a guys channel on poker vlogs. I had never seen one before so I watched all the time. Months later I see this guy Lex on and I thought to myself I won't ever watch this guy. Fast forward to having subscribed and liked and commented on his videos each time they come out. I went and watched all of his videos I didn't see. I also watch him on TCH Live. TCH Live you can watch 30-45 mins and he will fold all of that time. Just makes me appreciate what he has to go through just to drop a video for us. Rogue was looking like he just had a shower.

This is good example of what i have thought that almost all succesfull players have luck at begining of their careers. You played Kings correctly but were still a lot behind. Most players go broke in that situation and may never get back on their feets if they are playing with full bankroll. Some players get more luck than others and develop their game at same time. Others dont have change because they run bad.

Same thing happened to me for online poker took a shot at 10 20 nl flopped top set with 88s in a 5 way 3 bet pot. Got it all in 9k pot and lost to quads. Had I won that hand I'd have turned 200 into 12k in 2 weeks. Instead I cashed out the 2300 I had on there and quit

Great starting story. Turn of a single card set the course for years. Far out. If Texas follows the path of many other places I've seen, it starts with a bunch of loose rec players with lots of money and gradually migrates to tight regulars, some pros and just the very occasional rec player. Happened in calif when holdem was first legalized in 80s, foxwoods in 90s, everywhere in 2003, Maryland live couple years ago when they opened up in baltimore, and florida when it went from $10 pots to nl few years ago.
