‘An ideal squad’ Their first 11 could be used as ideal squad reserves (not first 11 players). I agree with that much. There’s probably 2 or 3 players of their first 11 that warrant their place to be honest.

We’ve had elite coaches and it didn’t work because of the culture and how’s the clubs run overall. Yes we still need an elite coach like Ten Hagg but we need better structure, ideas of the next 5 years and then give the coach time

Van Gaal and Mourinho were tough but were not backed - Scholes is right about having a guy the players fear.

I just wanna see a team playing passionately: for the win, for the badge, for the fans, n for the manager. Can be proud of a team who does that.

The players make a massive part of the 'culture' and so it does matter who they bring in. Man Utd need to understand where they are, they are not one or two marquee signings away from a title, they need a cultural reset and to strengthen the squad as a whole. Look at Arsenal after assessing where they really are. Of course the manager is most important to bring in the correct players and a good style of play.

@@bentaylor6995 Dude is that a serious question? Van Gaal won the Champions League and has 15 Titles. Mourinho won the CL 2x and has 25 Titles. Rangnick managed to finish second with Leipzig, was in the semi final of the CL with Schalke and won the german Cup with Schalke.

Scholes was one of my favourites when he played for United, but man! I could not disagree more on blaming the manager. Look what the players and boards reacted for Van Gal and Murinyo, both top class managers. Blame the board and the players!!!!!

But they had Jose Mourinho and Louis Van Gaal, two elite managers, and basically nothing happened.

Ferdinand was a great player, and is an intelligent guy--but he's also a media entrepreneur/businessman who has to play to an audience. His job is to keep his brand intact, produce content and get attention to his coverage. Ole keeps getting the heat, but he’s actually gotten United to a European cup final and finish second last year. He might not have been the best coach in the world, but I don’t United are better under Rangnick than if they’re under Ole. They’re on par in my book. Rangnick was a bad short term decision.

Mate sadly nobody wants to admit it. Honestly sacking Ole in hindsight was a terrible decision. Most people would never admit it.

All this is partly Rio's fault-player power, with Rio the ringleader, got David Moyes the sack. If he'd been given time-look what he'd doing with West Ham

Scholes is delusional if he thinks Man United are close to Chelsea. Too much dead wood in United. Will be another "transition period" when they do get a good coach.

Yeah your right even Arsenal are closer to Chelsea than man United. Arsenal are playing as a team dispite having the youngest squad in the league and have a good defence to build from. Man United are full of individuals that have a great goalkeeper and only 1 or 2 good defenders also something is missing in midfield and rely on Ronaldo far far too much who dispite getting a hatrick had 1 goal in 10 games before that and has only scored in 8 different games in the league all season but I blame the service he has had really and he is getting old now. But they need to reshape the whole defence really with 2-3 top signings and 1-2 world class midfielders and better coaching. And I don't see them finishing higher than 5th now with Chelsea and Liverpool still to play I don't see them getting 70pts which should be enough for 4th but I do see arsenal getting 19 more points out of 12games a possible 36pts they do have to play Liverpool and Chelsea but can afford to lose both of those games and still get 4th. Also let's be honest united will lose other points aswel with there games left they need 7/9 games left just to reach 71pts. Arsenal hold goal difference advantage with all those less games played but won't need it just need to win 7/12 games for arsenal to get 74 PTS which would mean united need to win 8/9 games to get 74pts aswel that's how hard it is for united btw.

Very difficult with Martials and Lingards bringing in 150ks a week, who would sign Maguire, AWB or Shaw on their salaries, nobody. They need to copy what Arteta has done at Arsenal- got rid of 18 players in 2 years. Huge rebuild job, but pointless giving the job to a part time/poor coach.

Biggest mistake was not clearing out Ole after his interim role at the end of 18/19 season and bringing in a proper DOF and Manager.

Squad wise player for player United have a better squad than all bar city... The problem is that it's a squad of individuals.. Liverpool have a team not individuals so they put a shift in for each other and it works, like city the work for each other and know what each other will do

Problem is that there are players at United that Chelsea would take because they could lift them to a higher level if they could wake them up. United have got too many players all just going through the motions

@Jake Hyams completely agree I'm a Chelsea fan but it winds me up to see the United players being as poor as they are on as much they are . They shouldn't need encouragement to play as hard as possible I pay quid twice a week to play 5 a side and put in far more effort and desire than them.

Squad wise I wouldn't say they are close to Chelsea, neither are they close to Man City or Liverpool. I think it's the players, but again I'm not a United fan so I'm not too sure

Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Tuchel and Klopps father (Ralf), look at what Moyes is also doing with West Ham so who is the coach they need?

It’s funny how the players that have been poor are ole signings and what Mourinho called out . But all the pundits sided with the players and called him the problem

After that last performance Ruthless Ralf has to be more ruthless from now until the end of the season if he wants to stay at the club. We have to be Up For It, So Bring It On. We expect 3rd place with this squad. We should put Ruthless Ralf upstairs as DOF & bring back Ole as Manager & Roy Keane as Assistant Manager & Rene Meulensteen as Head Coach with their Management Team in the summer, that would encourage the players & staff to improve on their focus, performance, consistency and achieve more for next season. Keep it in the family!

He won a few trophies yes, but at the cost of exciting football, which some call 'The Utd Way' whatever that is.

To do what they're talking about, the board have to give the manager full control and not a single manager since Sir Alex has had that. Every manager has been set up to fail.

Maguire said : if u can't help your team help your enemy

they need to look at what Arsenal done... they need a mass clear-out of players not just a new manager. The same losers have been there for years now. All this rubbish about talent in there, how many years are they going to be saying this? I've heard Rashford is going to be one of the best in the world for years now. They said Jones was going to be England captain and hes still there. Then these ex players have the cheek to say they need a top coach who will strike fear but they were on Mourinhos back every week and he won trophies still... Ole at the wheel got excuses every week from the same ex players for doing nothing

I think there will be better times in case of Ralf getting into a "sporting advisor" role at the club. He will definitely look at the structure, recruitment and playingstyle to build the club forward. The sad part is that United needed 10-years to hopefully understand this..

Same guys who backed thier mate and never said negative thing about his coaching we went 3 years backwards under ole 🙄

a coach is one thing but the coach needs the backing of the board and top management. we can allow players and their egos to dictate what happens at this club.

Some players have had several mangers in the recent years and they didn't improve at all.

It's a mixture if both, we do need a elite manager and players to sync together. Would any elite manager allow Mcguire to be captain the way he performs? Never mind being at the club.

Just a reminder when Ole was in charge these ex-Man U pundits would NEVER criticise Ole. It was always the players, now its Ralf they won't shut up about replacing him. Man U honestly did fine tonight, didn't create enough big chances but against the most organised defence in the world that's fine.
