    Thanks for another excellent video. These are by far the best for Legion strategy/tactics on KZread. You really deserve more subscribers! I love my ATST but rarely play it nowadays as all my games seem to require maximum trooper units to claim objectives. It can, however, cause problems for the rebels (especially if they don't bring Luke)!

    Fantastic video as always! I am wondering which tanks for imperials is better in your opinion, AT-ST or the occupier tank? I plan to have an in person game soon and I plan to run a tank list but just need to know which tank to add in. If it is the AT-ST I will have fun and I will play it better then I have ever played it if it is the tank you recommend! Thanks for the epic video again Team Relentless!

    The tank with Hammers + RT-97C + LTA and the AT-ST with Hammers + Mortar + LTA are very comparable in terms of their points per defensive rating and points per ranged firepower rating. I think the main disadvantage the tank has vs the AT-ST is its profile. It is harder to maneuver on the table, takes up more space on the table, and has a lower LoS point it fires from (giving your fewer targets). Its advantage is that it is a little cheaper. I think the choice between the two comes down to this: Are the extra points you earn from using the tank worth the drawbacks? One last thought: the tank also can carry other units, which usually doesn't matter but in some situations can be pretty useful.

    Yes, they have extremely similar defensive and ranged firepower ratings (according to the scale I use) but you lose out in other ways (as mentioned above).

    @@TeamRelentless Well, time for my first grand army game to be soon, I love both of them and cannot choose. This time I will probably run the tank this time because A I just bought it and B it is a bit cheaper so I will have more upgrades, but mostly A. Thanks for the advice, the AT-St will likely be my go to tank for the empire because it seems to be the better unit. However, I LOVE red saves on the tank, either way they are both fun to bring to the table top. Tanks again for all the help!

    For sure a Tank with AP Shells is going to be the most reliable way to chew an AT-ST up as GAR. Any Jedi will also do a great job, but you’ll have to get them in close of course, which is easier said than done.

    Agree with this video, especially that Clone Troopers are broken ( far too powerful ). I believe this is due to requirement to sell new product ( if you can find it ) and not the AT ST which is quite old and could totally use a 2.0 reboot ( new tooling and new cards ). AAT far too powerful, seen it demolish literally everything in its path, Double AAT worse ( i find this the cause of people actually getting out of Legion since the 'power gamers' ruin it for everyone). I play AT ST since i just like it and if i lose, at least i had fun playing it. My game goal is to step on an enemy unit and 'squash them like ants'. I may not win, but i squashed you.

    Great video as usual. Please keep them coming. I am curious what your magic spreadsheet thinks about a armour on armour outcome between an AAT (4 red, Crit 2, HV, Impact 1 - x 2 barrage) with OOM and LTA (182) [possibly with 1 surge from aggressive tactics] vs AT-ST config you have (Double rainbow; surge hit/def Impact 3 195). 9(6) hits red saves versus 11(8) hits white (surge) saves. Is there a clear winner?

    So my magic spreadsheet tries to create ratings that represent something's strengths across the entire course of the game, not a single attack. For single attacks, I use rollcrits.com to simulate what would actually happen. But let's look at rollcrits AND my rating system in the cases you mentioned (and let's toss in the AT-ST build with the blaster too). AAT + OOM + LTA (182 points) Defensive Rating: 22 Ranged FP Rating: 19 Actual attack (range 4 w/ 1 surge + 1 aim) made into Rebel Troopers in heavy cover: 1.39 wounds (but the attack is made twice, so it's a total of 2.78 wounds) AT-ST + Hammers + Mortar + LTA (195 points) Defensive Rating: 21.5 Ranged FP Rating: 20.28 Actual attack (range 4 w/ 2 aims): 3.13 wounds AT-ST + Hammers + Blaster + Mortar + LTA (215 points) Defensive Rating: 21.5 Ranged FP Rating: 25.72 Actual attack (range 4 w/ 2 aims): 4.53 wounds Consider also that the AAT attack is made twice, so catching something in light cover or in the open is twice as good as doing so with the AT-ST. Also, the AAT can make that attack at ranges 3 and 4, but those AT-STs can only make that attack at range 4 (they lose 3 white if firing at range 3).

    @@TeamRelentless thanks. So I've had a play with the rollcrits and AAT vs AT-ST. Let me see if I got this right The AT-ST (double rainbow impact 3) vs an Occupier (red saves equivalent for AAT with 9 health) in open does 1.90 a round. So should kill AAT in 5 rounds (9.5 over 9 health). Light cover makes that 1.72 and 8.6 over still 5 rounds. The AAT (twice using barrage - 4 red crit 1, impact 1) vs an AT-ST (13 health, white saves) in open does 1.35 (with aim) + 1.26 (second shot without aim), so 2.61 a round. So should kill the AT-ST in 5 rounds (13.05 over 11). Light cover makes that 1.35 (goes up to 1.39 must be a bug) + 1.18 = 2.53 so still 5 rounds. So effectively a tie in the open - who shoots first wins, dice variance etc. Lower AAT health and red saves works out about the same, although health is reliable whereas red dice can blank. Surges will help both but the AT-ST more I think. So this makes me think that AATs need those Armour Piercing Shells if they want to take on armour. And if so still cheaper than the AT-ST config (192). AAT at range 2-3 with primary attack and arsenal with Armour Piercing Shells (5 red + 2 black, Crit 1, Impact 4) with aim from LTA but reload each round, is 3.67 wounds a round. So should just kill the AT-ST in 3 rounds (11.01 over 11) but likely by 4. So now its 4 rounds so AAT will win even if shoots second. Light cover for AT-ST reduces that to 3.35 so 13.4 after 4 shots so will win the light in light cover duel as 4 rounds versus 5. Looking at other armoured opponents the APS make a big difference (almost 1 shot a AT-RT in the open at 4.58). So the AT-ST is a pretty effective tank killer but would spend most of the game to remove a tank without help. Likewise the AAT player needs to decide if shooting the AT-ST is worth it given that will likely be its whole game purpose if it does without AP shells or lots of friends (B2s and HA).

    Realized I screwed this up and it won't let me edit it for some reason. Ignore the AT-ST + Hammers + Blaster + Mortar + LTA line above, and instead refer to this one (I accidentally included the mortar AND the blaster in the data). AT-ST + Hammers + Blaster + Mortar + LTA (215 points) Defensive Rating: 21.5 Ranged FP Rating: 25.72 Actual attack (range *3* w/ 2 aims): 3.68 wounds

    I think the AAT tank made the AT-ST obsolete. I lose my walker every game against a separatist player within 3 turns. A walker just simply cannot take all the crit damage coming out of an AAT, although I’d love to still run it.

    Thanks for a great video again. Just a question. If you want to kill things why bring the mortar? I have only played against AtSt twice, once with the grenades launcher and once with the mortar. I could ignore the mortar but the grenade launcher caused problems. It killed things as it should, the mortar did not. If the aim of the walker is to kill things why use an inferior weapon.

  • @TeamRelentless

    @TeamRelentless

    3 жыл бұрын

    The logic is to look at how many hits each weapon will generate across the entire game. It's true that the grenade launcher is more powerful than the mortar in a single attack, but you're probably only going to get to use it an average of twice per game. The mortar, on the other hand, will likely be fired 5 times per game. Add to that equation that the mortar is cheaper, and you can see why the grenades nearly always get left behind.

    Hello! As of right now, I still stand by everything I said in this video about suggested builds (so the math is that it's for sure worth it to use the Hammers Pilot and at least the Mortar, possibly the Twin Light). However, with Governor Pryce coming with the LAAT and giving an AT-ST Field Commander, you could go that route and forgo another commander. ~Mbweha (Ben)

    Where do the ratings (Ranged FP/Defense) come from?

  • @TeamRelentless

    @TeamRelentless

    3 жыл бұрын

    Defensive Ratings: How many shots it takes to kill a unit on average, plus a bonus applied for keywords. Add the DR up for every unit in the list and voila. Ranged FP Ratings: Take expected hits/crits at every range band for a unit, weight the crits, weight the attacks that are at a greater distance, apply bonus for keywords. Add the RFP for each unit in an army up for the list score. I use them for the sake of comparison when I'm looking at loadouts and lists. I check my work against simulated data using rollcrits.com to make sure I'm not coming up with numbers in a vacuum that aren't reliable.
