The Place and Posture of Christian Women - Part One

In 1 Timothy 2:9-15, Paul urged women to adorn themselves with good deeds and godly submission rather than fancy hairstyles, expensive clothes, and jewelry. Alistair Begg explains that Paul’s intent was not to place a blanket restriction on certain styles of dress but to encourage Christians to focus on God and His purposes during corporate worship. Although fashions come and go, this principle remains important for Christians in every generation.

Thank you so very much for this sermon Pastor Begg. So many abusive men actually twist God’s word on submission in their marriages unfortunately and use it to hurt their wives so very much. Their wives are not treated as God called them to be. Mine included. 😢

Not trying to be argumentative, rather to expand on the idea of dress. Women have a love of beauty that should be expressed in their clothing. See Proverbs 31. This expression can reflect beauty and good taste without being excessive or flashy. But to echo Pastor Begg, there is no reason to be unflattering or dowdy.
