The Pixar Afterlife Explained! (Soul Vs Coco)

Фильм және анимация

I want to understand the Pixar afterlife! Let’s explore the similarities and differences that exist between Coco and Soul’s depictions of spirits, the realms where they go, and what exists after death! Today we are going through these two Pixar classics in an attempt to grapple with how these two stories discuss and show life after death, and what they are showing about the greater Pixar Theory universe.

I know this has nothing to do with the question but in the video you were talking about how souls in the great before can have depression. If they can have depression then that means they can also have sadness, and it is obvious they have joy, so can they also have anger, maybe disgust and fear. And our emotions have a big impact on our personality. So can you do a video about how they characters from inside out play a role in the great before in soul? Thank you. Loved the video by the way. 😊

This makes sense! At first I just thought, much like how the Super Carlin Bros explained it, that the afterlife differs for each soul depending on their culture and if they celebrate Dia De Los Muertos, and that the “final death” was a soul going into the great beyond. But it makes so much more sense the way you explained it that the “final death” is just a soul returning to the soul world! Genius!

I'm not a Hindu but I have always believed that makes the most logical sense because the reality is none of us no the truth and we won't until we die but reincarnation makes perfect sense because I really can't comprehend the idea that when we die our souls are taken to heaven/afterlife and we just spend eternity there it just seems super boring.

I believe most souls forget previous lives. I read a book by Gabrielle Zevin that describes the process. The name of the book is Elsewhere, it's a place where our soul goes to when we die. (This is a fictional book, but it does give an interesting view of death and the afterlife and authors do a bit of research on subjects, even if it is for fiction.) There we get younger with each passing year until we become infants ready to be reborn. Our memories of our previous life fade away just before birth. I do believe we are given chances to live more lives. I have heard of children remembering previous lives and were pretty accurate in describing aspects of their previous lives to remaining relatives of the person they were in their past life. I have no clue how they retain their memories.

@@blazingphoenix1000 As an agnostic who has researched near-death experiences, I have read various reports about an afterlife as well as ones that talk about reincarnation. Several even mentioned both. The idea that I got for a while (and hope but am somewhat conflicted) was that the afterlife is where souls can continue to grow. Their experience can tailor to what suits then and how they want them (ex. It can be like this world but more expansive). Reincarnation would be a choice for those who are interested in starting again or for those who lived unfullfilling or evil lives. Of course, that is just my hope. I'm not 100% sure if NDEs are truthful and if they are, I am uncertain about how the afterlife truly works.

Basically the great beyond is the "second death" aka real death. But I think the Coco land of the dead is only available to Mexicans who practice that belief system. That could meab there may be other in-between death places in other cultures that souls go to before the dreat beyond. I think they go straight to the great beyond when they don't have a separate belief system. And of course who knows what's beyond the great beyond.

@@corinnekel1324 Well, the options that can happen are: 1. First Spirit, then Soul. 2. Just Soul. Becoming a Spirit means basically that you still have some sort of unfinished personal business. Which could be continuing to enjoy, well, the joys of life. Examples of Spirits: 1. Coco 2. Brave 3. Ratatouille Something that The Pixar Theory 2.0 also explains is that Toys have souls but not spirits. And that’s why some act like the characters they’re supposed to portray (BuzzLightYear). I’d recommend watching the newly stated theory, but it’s in Spanish as of the moment... Also some other things are that Onward takes place in another planet, and The Good Dinosaur and Cars take place in another universe. It is also explained that animals can’t actually talk, but that they do communicate somehow and could be of high consciousness like humans, but that that’s just the nature of the Pixar World, bc any Soul could also be assigned to an Animal, seeing as how also the Cat had its own Soul. Also The Incredibles are just a comic in the “main universe”. That and more in detail is explained in The Pixar Theory 2.0. Though if you still want to check out, the name of the channel is El Mundo de Zowl.

I mean, if spirits in aoul inmediately went on a path to the afterlife when they die, how can spirits exist in the mortal realm? If your theory is true, it answers this question: spirits are souls that are still remembered to this day and decided to stay in the mortal realm for one reason or another

You've got it backwards. Did you notice the void of the great beyond is actually a sphere of white light? And as the souls get closer to it, they too become spheres of white light. Spheres are what contains the memories in inside out. Each emotion has a different color. White is the combination of all other colors. The sphere of the great beyond is also a lot bigger than other spheres. The land of the dead is the combination of every memory of anyone. Are you drawing the connection yet? Still not convinced? How about the fact that Joe was not dead yet? He was in a coma. Until he becomes a memory sphere inside the collective memory sphere he is not see yet. When this happens, he will be dead. In inside out memories fade away. This is how the great beyond doesn't expand forever. Parts of the sphere fade away. They experience the second death. The great beyond is the transiton into the land of the dead. You've forgotten about inside out. This movie Ties them together perfectly

This makes me think about this thing I heard about once, which states that the earth or whatever, is one large egg that contains a soon-to-be "god" and it will only hatch once the god has lived through the life of every person on earth. So what if that giant culmination of memories is something similar? Some congregation of all knowledge, experience, and memories from all of humanity being gathered for something like that.

I was actually thinking of saying something similar to this. They both contain a bridge, but it's much shorter in Coco than it appears in Soul and made me wonder if depending on what people believe, the White Void actually sorts souls into different forms of the afterlife. Everyone is sort of nebulous while maintaining some level of personal identity, it's just that the Land of the Dead in Coco has an afterlife where those memories allow the spirits to cross back to the mortal world. Or something. I think you explained it better.

I like to think that whatever you believe in, especially what happens to you after death is what will happen to you, like if you are Christian and believe in heaven and hell then that is your afterlife, or if you believe in the day of the dead then that is your afterlife. Basically all religions, gods and other beliefs are true and exist, it's just that whatever you choose to belief in is what you will get.

Here's my take Pixar has released 3 movies dealing with life and death. These movies are: Inside Out, Coco, and Soul. Inside Out deals with the perspective of new life. Coco deals with the perspective of after life. And, Soul deals with the perspective of what's between. I'll try and explain everything in a more episodic manner. Let's say I die. The people who love and remember me. Their memory and love will keep my spirit alive. However my conscious mind and soul will not inhabit that spirit. the spirit is nothing more then memories. My conscious mind and soul would go to the great beyond. There my mind and soul would be separated through the repurposing process. So basically my lovable inside out characters would be tossed into a giant bowl and reassigned a new life with new colleagues. So I can't get reborn as me. Instead many are born with parts of me. i.e. new born Sally gets my fear, Alex gets my disgust, and heather gets my joy.

The writers and creators did a lot of research when developing the concept of death and what comes after death. The great before and the zone are separate realms of reality where souls can gather and harmonize. The great beyond is the afterlife itself and that bridge that Joe lands on is just the bridge to the afterlife. Depending on how one was brought up in their culture and beliefs though, that bridge and the afterlife are seen differently in one’s eyes. Both Coco and Soul, there is a bridge that leads to the afterlife. In Coco, we see that cultures version of the afterlife while in Soul, it is interpreted to be based on a general perspective of not really knowing and finding a balance of what a general soul looks like and a more mystical unbiased view of what could come. One’s culture and religious beliefs can and will generate a different perspective of the afterlife. For example, a devout Christian would probably see a stairway leading up to a clouded Heaven rather than the void like nature seen in Soul or the Latino inspired Land of the Dead from Coco. To re clarify in a quick summary, the Afterlife and path to it will appear to look different based upon one’s culture or religious beliefs even though it all comes together to be the same. The only thing that I can say that can explain other things, is the Afterlife is broken up into districts where the different cultures and religions exist together

Doesn't seem like there is much hiccups towards Soul's afterlife. I somewhat theorize that the Great Beyond is kind of like a recycling bin where souls are reused in a reincarnation sense (unless the soul ceases to be and becomes the light). And it doesn't rely on being remembered so no likely case of a second death where there is no one left to remember you.

Personally, I disagree. I think that's why they were vague about 'the Great Beyond, ' and the Final Death. Vague in the sense that no one really *knows* what happens to you once you're past the light, or Forgotten. Everybody has very different views, expectations, and beliefs about what truly happens once you've crossed that final barrier. That's why both are left open for our own interpretations.
