I didn’t even think about that fact that all we do is scroll. I never tilt or move my phone for any purpose. Often when I’m on my phone I just think that I could be on my computer for a much less frustrating experience. Only reason for a phone is videos and being able to scroll while laying flat in a bed. At least we got tap tap back now!!

Oh, one other reason, just a small thing really, easy to forget...the fact that it can be disconnected from power and go with us in our pocket for all day, maybe even multiple days on a charge, and do 90% of the things you can do on a computer??? Easy to forget that part, I know Yes, I would rather type up a document with a keyboard. I would rather play video games on a big screen with a controller. Both of those things require me to be sitting at a desk (something I am not always doing), carrying a bag big enough to fit a laptop (something I am not always doing), and in the case of gaming, own a laptop with a powerful GPU (I do not). The little slab of glass in my pocket does 90% of the things I'd do at my desktop PC, 80% as well, everywhere, easily. The weird apps from the old days are a fond memory, but there's a reason that everything fell into place such that everything you need to do on your phone is more or less done the same way - it's simply the most convenient.

cannot lie, the fact that i can't go in and redownload so many of these old apps that i used to mess with on my mother's old 1st gen ipad we won off a radio show has been haunting me for years. i really hope that in the future, even as what's created and shared online all at once increases at an exponential rate, we're better able to archive those sorts of serverside games for that one little guy years down the line who thinks "man i'd love to go back and play tap birds on ios created by gameview studios just to remember what it was like."

There’s an ancient iOS game I remember so vividly called Samurai Girl. I think it had news stories about it because it was very impressive for the time, but it just does not exist anymore. I’d kill a man with my bare hands to get that app back because I played it religiously as a small child. I grinded the early game dungeons and had my samurai equipped with all mythic gear and my Phoenix was SIGNIFICANTLY higher level than it was supposed to be for where I was in the story. I want to replay it so I can actually understand the story this time :(

@@friends4evrrThe problem with running old games on modern iOS is that some apps are simply incompatible. iOS 11 dropped support for legacy, 32-bit apps (ie. most games made in 2013 or earlier), so you'll have to find a device with iOS 10 or earlier. An iPad 4th generation is probably your best bet.

I noticed that there were a lot more one-trick-pony apps in the store back in the 2010s - we all remember classic mobile games like Flappy Bird and Angry Birds, but nobody seems to remember those one-gimmick apps that only did, well, one thing, and that one thing was their entire gimmick. I remember, before iPads got flashlights, there was an app called Flashlight that would display different colors or patterns on screen. You could do fun things like have Christmas lights or Halloween decorations and stuff. These types of apps simply don't exist on the modern App Store anymore because the quality control is much, much higher.

tap tap revenge is literally responsible for my emo phase (and consequently it never ending… i still have the same taste). i found paramore and blink-182 from playing it, re-ignited my love for sum 41, and it all snowballed from there

I remember getting my first ipod touch. The first things i downloaded were the lighter and whip crack apps. All of the useless gimmick apps were so full of charm. brilliant video, gets me so damn nostalgic for the early age of iphone. i remember playing cut the rope on my mums iphone all the time, but itd be a while before i got my own ipod. i only ended up getting a phone after pokemon go came out because i couldnt play it on my ipod. turns out when i got an iphone to play it i also couldnt because pokemon go only had pokemon spawn in towns and cities at that time and i lived on a farm in the countryside lol. i remember trekking around the farm trying to see if anything would happen but the map was just blank green. anyways good video.

I have a Motorola phone (they make pretty good ones nowadays). The chop chop flashlight is still there and I use it daily :) interacting with the phone boils down to gestures like these. You twist the phone to open your camera, and you can edit some I'm pretty sure, it's a really nice thing :)

when i got an iphone 3gs suddenly everyone at school wanted to be around me and play with the apps lol i just downloaded everything i even remember my teacher joining us during break to watch happy tree friends on youtube also i had one app where you could record your voice and it would change it to jigsaw's voice and my crush really liked that app so i had a lot of voice recordings of him but as jigsaw..... i still listened to them daily after school.... i still miss tap tap revenge to this day, i know there are similar apps but none of them come close

Well fear not, in today's generation, a rhythm game titled "Rotaeno" is a rhythm game that uses gyroscope controls, as if you were driving through outer space to the rhythm :3 To be honest, I still miss playing Tower Bloxx 3D on my mom's friend of hers on her iPhone 3G... good times...

I haven't watched it yet but...is it inspired by one of Izzzyzzz recent videos?

Yeah! In a way, I think you talking about her “Wild West of iPhone customization” vid, I love that vid and her channel, she’s a huge inspiration, Ive wanted to make a vid on the old iOS stuff for a while, but now that you mention it, that vid definitely did put the idea in my head again
