    I’ve been using the pilot 823 for drawing and writing for the past few years, I’ve also been curious about this pen but could never find an in-depth video review from an artist’s perspective. Thanks for the review! I never would have thought about the mechanism controlling the ink flow.

    You’re welcome! I’m surprised so few people picked on the way the mechanism actually works.

    No matter which pen you use I always enjoy watching you draw and cross hatching -" beautiful drawing" as usual.

    Your review provides the most comprehensive information about the pen. Unlike other reviews that merely describe the mechanism, this one delves into what the pen actually produces. Thank you.

    My pleasure! I was honestly surprised that no-one else mentioned the actual purpose of the mechanism or its benefits.

    Great video, Marc... finally, someone who is giving a fresh take on this unique pen and some deserved justice on what it is capable of doing. FYI, my preferred setting for writing is 1/4 turn from H to S setting (it takes a full 360 degrees turn from H to S and vice-versa). On the other hand, when I feel like having some fun, the semi-flex S setting scratches my itch 😊. Cheers.

    Thanks. It's really surprising how misunderstood the Justus is. Happy to give it justice. :)

    I've been pondering these past few days on getting this pen for art. I already own a FA nib along with a metal falcon, but I'm still so curious of the Justus. Thanks for the video!

    I had this pen years ago. Back then, the nib did not bounce that well. It seems it has been updated.

    Perhaps, but this nib isn't particularly flexible now.

    You’re welcome. I’ve used this pen very heavily for 5 months and so far no problems. I haven’t seen users report any problems with the mechanism, so I’m confident it will last.

    Interesting to learn it actually does something, though not what it is advertised to do. Have you tried reverse writing?

  • @mkompan

    @mkompan

    6 ай бұрын

    It puts down an xxf line in reverse in the soft setting. In the hard setting the line is so fine that it’s not usable.

    Its relatively cheap, considering the quality, finishing and the nib and the unique mechanism if it were western brand it would be 2-3x more expensive...

    @@Cortesevasive I'm sorry but that's the second pen you've recommended that is very high (IMHO) in price, maybe that is OK for a pro, goodness knows I spent 20K on Hasselblad Cameras in the day, but I was a prof & my clients demanded the best. As an amateur trying to improve I'm spending those kinds of $$$$$. As I said, IMHO. I still love you though.

    It is very expensive, but I think of Pilot as a maker of high quality drawing/writing instruments as opposed to a status/luxury brand. Their pens, if you can afford them, are worth every penny.

    Currently Pilot pens are at very good prices, considering that Sailor and Platinum had already increased their prices unlike Pilot. Sadly at 2024 Pilot will increase in price with at least 20percent and for some models even more, especially in entry level pens like custom74 and elite95s...@@mkompan
