Dollar Tree baskets. One for each family member. That’s the only way stuff doesn’t stay on the stairs in our house. 😂
I'm dying, this is totally our family. We've started trying to institute a "take 1-2 things from the stairs when you go up" rule which apparently I'm the only one who follows. Although our pile is more on one side, rather than all over the place. :)

Kim's pile started out on one side... gotta give her credit for that.
This may be my favorite yet! Love this!!!! Kim, if you put in a basket at the bottom of the stairs and the new rule is "Every Sunday, anything left in this basket gets thrown out!" it's a game changer! (Fear of Loss is a great motivator) Great video, guys! ❤❤❤

We had a similar rule. I didn’t nag anyone about leaving stuff around, but when I cleaned an area, I cleaned it-everything in the bin if it didn’t belong. (To be fair, I have a neurodegenerative disease and just don’t have the energy to clean before I clean) All I had to do was announce “I’m cleaning the _________ in 10 minutes!” to send everyone scrambling for their stuff. The kids didn’t believe me about this at first. Fortunately, it only took one trip out to the bin to retrieve things to convince them.

Golly, I thought of the same thing! I’m sure it would work.
An ADHD point of clarification - I don’t assume that someone will take it to where it needs to go, I simply forget that it exists. And it’s not that I don’t care about the pile on the stairs, I either completely don’t see it, or I only see it when I absolutely have to be out the door immediately, or I see it and hyperfocus on clearing it all up and therefore miss my next meeting 🤦♀️

3 reasons I want to show this to my wife: 1. Her favorite song ever. 2. She loves Baby Yoda (great cameo!). And 3. Maybe….the kids and I have left a few things around the house….half-way there!
I love this! This is going into my favorite Penn Parody Playlist. Not only is the creativity epic but it rings sooooo true!
This is a problem I didn't know we'd have until we lived in a 2 story house. I always pile stuff on stairs so that I'd take it upstairs, but a lot of times, I'm just too tired to pick it up as I walk up.
This one just went straight to the top of my Holderness favorites! You scored a perfect bullseye with this one. These lyrics are going to be stuck in my head for all eternity. 😂
As someone who put the clean and folded laundry on the stairs, assuming I will put it in my room later (I don't, for weeks at a time) I feel this song in my soul

Bag it all up and hide it in the garage or attic. When they ask where it is, say that you threw it out since they obviously didn't care about it enough to put it where it belongs. If they get all shocked about it, tell them where it actually is but next time it goes in the trash for real. Hopefully they learn before the behavior gets too bad. If they don't get shocked, trash it for real; they truly didn't need it if they don't care. And if they repeat the behavior, toss it straight in the trash after one warning of what you're going to do if it doesn't get stored right away.
The best ever! You identified my family and helped me laugh off the laziness. My husband and I live on the main floor so I rarely take the stairs. I place clean laundry in baskets blocking the bottom step and they will jump over just like Penn did.

This is literally what happened when I was a kid. Our bedroom was in the attic (without central air) so my mom didn't want to haul it up there. We did the same land-mine avoidance moves up and down the stairs!
This family has way too much fun with their career. And this video reminds me of how I separate the laundry and can't tell the difference between some of my husband's and two teenage sons' clothes so I ask them to take their stuff from the pile..... but they never do! That pile needs a separate laundry basket in my room (soon it will need two), just in case one of them ever realizes something is missing.

I saw a reel on Facebook recently that might help. A mom would mark her kids clothes with a tick mark or line on the tag or waistband and as it was passed down she would add another line or tick mark for the next child. I know for my two sons it has made doing their laundry so much easier since I gave it a try. Don't know if this helps, but thought I would share.
You have such a perfect way of taking all that drives me nuts and making me laugh about it. So grateful for you. (And using Bon Jovi just makes it even better.)
This was great guys- the vocals were fantastic as always and Kims facial expressions- gold!.
Ok I think THIS is the most relatable video y’all have ever done.🤣 Although it’s my kids who don’t pick up the stairs. It drives me and my hubby bonkers that they don’t seem to ‘see’ the things I put there. Lol BUT I have to say I recall being a kid and my mom getting on me about my piles on the stairs and I literally remember NOT SEEING THEM til she pointed them out to me! Lol So I guess the Apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. 🤣
This was so true when I was a kid. Epic keytar by the way. Kim's expressions absolutely cracked me up.
This is too good. I’m amazed at how you come with these songs. And so true. The amount of hope we moms have leaving it on the stairs…😂
It's hard to choose a fav Penn parody but this one is right up there! Terrific!
The nipple scratch at 2:19 and the Bon Jovi informational at end😂 Bravo
OMG yes!!! As a mom I do this and same result! I have to say, this is really well done-perfect! The lyrics are spot on-in rhythm and rhyme-and I love the toothpaste story woven through it! But really just so much freakin fun-you’re amazing!!!
Just when I think I can’t love you guys more… I feel you, so very much. I don’t think my family has EVER brought something on the stairs up the stairs. And your talent for new lyrics is amazing. Thank you!
I love yall so much!Great humor, talent, and creativity. Found yall during covid when I really needed a lift. Still watching videos, although life is "normal" again. Thanks for being a bright spot in my day!
That's another Holderness Family classic! My wife loved it.
Love this video- so so funny and spot on🤣🤣 Many years ago I bought “stair baskets “ and still use them to this day. One of my kids chores was to “take care of the baskets”- they would have to bring them up and put the things in each of our bedrooms:)
Of course I had to check this out - stairs = open concept dresser, closet, garage and bath. It's a universal room! Great job. Weird Al would be proud.
My Aunt Vicky has a basket for this, if you go upstairs you MUST take it with you. Excellent parody as always.
Lmao so true! The target bag bit killed me! 🤣
This was hysterical! And so true!!!
This is our new family anthem you guys are genius :) and you capture family life perfectly!
I love Penn’s voice. Parody or not……. He rocks. 🎤 🎶
Epic! This is so true, normally the pile would stay until we had visitors.
Somehow the most relatable song yet. When he tossed the Target bag on the table it resonated right to the very depths of soul.

This was my life as I raised my now 2 adult daughters. All I asked was take one of your items with you as you go upstairs. A remark I often heard was, "I didn't see it." HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE IT????? Thanks for the laughs.
My family leaves their own stuff on the stairs to take up later, but I end up grabbing it on my way up and distributing it, even though the items don't belong to me. I just imagine someone tripping, and I can't bear to pass by and not do anything. This song is super funny, though. I liked the hyperbolic leaping over the stuff on the stairs!

This video hits! But I’m sure my husband won’t find it NEARLY as funny as I do. 😫🤣
Penn does his own stunts. Lol . My mom would put my brother and my stuff on the stairs. If it was there when dad came down for breakfast, it went into the trash. 24 hours stair life.
I love this! You made my day! 😂 My family NEVER picks up on the not so subtle message. I always have to explicitly tell them to pick up their stuff from the stairs and put it away. Even then they often ignore it! 🤦🏻♀️
Its the "do they not see," that does it for me😂. I must say this under my breath, yell out loud, just, ugh, the crap on the stairs is never f*#*ing ending at my house!

I am SO glad I’m not alone in this struggle 😂 Thanks for writing an anthem for one of my biggest mom gripes!
Kim's face when Pen asked for his toothpaste was gold! Lol We have a leave it on the end of the couch problem. When I was a kid my mom had one of those stair baskets but insisted it was only for décor and I don't think all of the clutter would fit in it anyway :/ I believe the solution was best found by this one homemaker who has a box. Anything that gets "left" she puts it in the box. At the end of the week, anything that is not claimed and put away goes bye bye 👋
I dont know how I have never found you guys before but Im so glad I just have. So funny and totally spot on
OMG this was my dad growing up. He’d threaten to throw the stuff away if we didn’t take it upstairs. Love the Bon Jovi.
I literally just finished cleaning up the stairs after a week of stuff being dumped there (a lot by me), and came back to see this video in my recommendations 🤣
Best parody so far! Our mom used to put our neatly folded laundry on the stairs for us to carry up. We were kind of ok about taking it up. But if we waited too long and she reached the breaking point, she would go upstairs to our rooms, empty the drawers, and throw everything down the stairs. Then we would have to pick it all up and take and put it away properly. As an adult, that seems like a reasonable lesson!

Love it! I left two huge laundry baskets full of folded clothes on top of each other, blocking the stairs and my kids still climbed over them instead of taking the hint! :D
Been hoping you’d put more these parodies out- you’re so good at it. Kim that citrusy, flowery vibes really suits you. Plus you’re clever & skilled etc
Dear Kim, Hahahaha This is so freaking perfect!!! The accuracy is off the charts. Sincerely, Jessie (who lives with her son and her husband). P. S. I would like to throw in the time that I almost face planted coming down the stairs because of said things on the stairs 😂
I can relate. I try putting stuff at the bottom of the stairway, but I always wind up bringing it upstairs
This is the BEST! I have even tried the “basket by the stairs for all the stuff” approach. Nope. Basket gets full, and then the overflow still ends up on the stairs, because a basket does not change the *people* who refuse to bring anything at all up the stairs 😂
You guys don't disappoint! Love from Australia.

I LOVE this video! I laughed so hard, that I cried! We had the exact same problem. Until my Mom had back surgery and EVERYTHING went upstairs IMMEDIATELY! Now my husband and I are looking for a single floor home to purchase. Hmmm, I wonder why?! (Wink) LOL!!!
The dog's look of disinterest and disdain wins the best cameo.
Too hilarious! My favorite with my family is when I take it from the stairs and drop it in front of their bedroom door. Then they just walk over it.
This is spot on! I’m OCD and give each person their own stair … so you don’t even have to sort through the crap!! Then I yell ‘stair pile bruh’ anytime someone walks up it 😂. It still grows and grows. Why ?!?!

I start singing and it's like the next line just generates itself as I go. THANK YOU PENN! You have made me feel a lot less strange in my own life.
At my house I say, “Clean up the stuff on the steps. Anything left gets thrown out or donated.”
Dog cameo in the back is so good! 😂
I have never felt a parody so hard in my heart as this one...and there have been many good ones on this channel. I resorted to buying a fabric bin for each person for the stairs...they overflow. Yes underwear even. From time to time I deliever the bin and dump it smack in the middle of a bed...
Ok, you guys nailed it. Congratulations! In my house, every horizontal surface is covered with stuff because no one will put it away.
We are totally trying to clean up our stairs so we can set up a new bed that's been waiting a loooong time for us!
Loved this, especially the end. I can’t always have stuff on the stairs as I use forearm crutches at times to get up and down, so trust me when those times happen if stuff is still there the kids get to help clean up in a hurry as Mom wants to actually, you know, use the stairs for their intended purpose.
