As long as the girls, especially Tiny, are eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally, they wil be ok. Just keep an eye on them and make sure they are doing well.

How we all miss Mama Kona. She really did have a calming influence over the girls. She took Luna under her wing when you first got her. I'm so sorry.

I hope the girls are doing okay grieving. Sorry to Chip and Peanut losing their mom too. I know they were both Mama's boys. We always appreciate seeing the pigs, even during a sad time. We will always remember Mama Kona.

Hi Martin I promise it will get bettter they are acting strange because they are grieving about mama kona and I will understand if you don’t want to post videos for a while. I will always be here to support you and your Guinea pigs. I was a Guinea pig parent and I totally understand your pain at the moment but it will get better keep loving your Guinea pigs and they will be fine and back to their normal selves but it will take time because they miss kona like you do . It takes time Martin, they know they lost a member of the family. Give them time and space and they will be okay hopefully. Keep them cool as possible in this terrible heatwave. My AC is running all day and most of the night. I don't care about a high electric bill this summer. I don't want to lose any of my little buddiies buddies due to heat exhaustion 😅😅😅😅

Interesting to see how the ladies of the herd reacted. How did the boys react to Kona's passing, if at all? Did they seem uneasy and sense something was wrong or had changed?

I know how it feels when the head girl in my cage Rey passed one of the girls got more combative and eventually became the new head. Rey's sister was searching around the cage looking for something or someone. It lasted a week or two. I hope you can get through this, and we'll always hold Kona in our hearts.

Kona was an amazing, loving and wise matriarch. Heaven welcomes a new beautiful cavy now!

It's hard for you all, you're all grieving as are us viewings grieving for your loss, but hopefully the piggies will begin to brighten up soon enough once they've had their time of grief. They all need time to adjust. Change is scary. All the love to you and the pigs.

As long as Tiny is still eating, peeing and pooping she will be ok. It will take time . Piggies have feelings to and they mourn the loss of a friend/sister. Some aren't bothered by a loss and others are.

Just curious to know if Chip and peanut are aware of there moms passing too or is it just Tiny and the girls?

I am so glad to see that they are eating! Especially Tiny. I love them SO much! When I saw your video and that Kona died I also cried... I'm with you!

I watched the vid of Mama Kona and even though shes not mine,I still broke down in tears and felt like I lost a good friend. She made such an impact in all our lives and her vids helped cheer me up when I was struggling. Thank you Mama Kona for being a source of happiness, rip mama kona❤️

Honestly, the others being rattled by the loss of a herdmate, especially one that so many of them were close to, is a pretty normal part of their grieving process. They feel out of sorts like we do. The only real advice I have is to keep an eye on everyone and give special attention to anyone who seems lonely. I think Arty dude might be sensing your mood and trying to cheer you up, the sweet little thing

They all know one of them is gone. Even the boys know it and they're not in the same cage but they know it. Nacho was not the same after I lost Beavis. He's taken to his new cage mate now, but for awhile he didn't want anything to do with the other pig Gizmo

The Matriarch is missing...and it'll be an adjustment like when my girls lost their mom

I know us humans like to project 'human emotions' on other animals so when something like this happens I always think maybe Im just projecting my sadness and thinking theyre feeling the same way. But its true, animals do realize when their companion passes away and it does affect them. Im sure Luna, Truffles and Tiny just need some time to heal (and establish a new pecking order) But with your love and care youll all heal from this!! Theyll never forget Mama Kona and neither will we.

It’s normal , like you , they are in the duel phase, they are sad and holding on. It’s hard but eventually they will overcome it and be as happy as ever . Tiny is her daughter and it’s absolutely normal and part of nature for her to feel like that. They will heal quicker with your love , that’s for sure, so don’t be sad. ❤ Lots of love from Spain.

I am so sorry Martin, heart goes out to you. The piggies do change over time, it takes time to process for them as well. They will determine the new hierarchy and be less skittish. Just be sure to not stop trying with petting and cuddling. The less you do it, the more they lean into not doing it. Not forcing but reinforcing, I would say!

Moma Kona was a inspiration to Truffles, Tiny and Luna even now they feel heartbroken about her passing 💔. Lets hope they will be strong and stick together as a family

Stay strong Martin. I feel for the piggos especially since Big Mama Kona 's passing. Luna Bean the Queen, the lovable and shy Tiny, and shy Truffle Truffly Puff lost a mother in-law, mother, and comrade as well as grandma to Arty and Capy Urkel as well. Chip the Wonder Guinea Pig aka Chippo the Hippo and Peanut the Butt aka the Duke of the Boops lost their Mama. The lovable chunky golden gal herself Big Mama Kona is in a better place in heaven along with her hubby Suba and grandson Champ eating all the veggie treats and Timothy hay in heaven. My guinea pig Duncan was traumatized as well. But I also know that Rowdy Rooty Booty Boy and Lord Scruffy Scruff are shocked as well. A guinea pigs work is never done. What lovable furbabies with lots of personalities but also awesome and feisty lovely creatures. 🥰❤️🥰. RIP Kona Subason.😇😇😇.

Guinea pigs, like humans and other social animals need time to grieve. Luna's skiddish because Kona's gone and hasn't come back. I had heard elsewhere that guinea pigs need an "open casket funeral" to verify that their friend or parent has passed and a chance to say good bye. In other words, the dearly departed's remains need to be left in the cage for a bit. We don't know if you did that, but if you did, that's great, but it may take some time. Again, it's sad to hear of the matriarch and half namesake of the channel has passed but you loved her, continue to love her and cared for her. I don't think she may have much to complain about.

Yes, I believe they can tell by smell, silence, and/or if other pigs know. They can also sense the owner/other pig's grief, depression, or sadness.
