Great video. I believe there is phasing accruing when switching between pickups?and microphone. I love the sound I can’t wait to order.

Why is it no longer available, it vanished from the manufaturers site? I installed the 3-piece piezo in a 12 string Guild and it needs quite a lot of eq. But the microphone one vanished from web.

Hey Matt, how much weight does the add on mic blender VT box add? Does it affect the unplugged acoustic tone of your guitar since it is attached to the top? Noticeable at all?

Great review man! Now Im really thinking about buying this! I just have a simple question... is the straw of the mic flexible enough to put it in a position where is not obviosly visible? I just really don't like how it looks right in the middle of the soundhole. Happy new year, btw! :)

How does this compare to the K&K Trinity Or Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend?

Nice review!! Now, do some match eq with the Akg to get rid of the nasal signature on this internal mic.

That would work great! I used a APi 550 and 1176 to clean it up at the end and it sounded great

How does this thing do on stage? Thinking about getting one of these pickups for my Martin D-15. I play shows with drums and a bass and my guitar. I am a bit skeptical about getting this because I haven’t seen or heard anything live on stage. Studio setting it sounds great tho!!

I have tried the k&K trinity (which is preety much the same thing-3 x contact + mic). I am playing in acoustic trio (2guitars+cajon) and it really didn't work for me. The mic just doesn't cut through and you can't push it too much. This stuff is ideal for recording, maybe solo gigs with one guitar and vocal or something more quiet. For now I haven k&K pure mini + tonedexter for more mic type of sound

Hey great review! So I had a question. Do I have to get both piezo and the mic or does the dual system come with both?

You have to purchase them separately. The Mic is an upgrade option. The 3 contact piezo EP001 is currently $45 and another $100 for the mic upgrade. Which in my opinion is a great value as the dual system LR Bags is $299+

To be honest I listened to it on my Samsung S9+ which has a pretty good speaker in it and I have to say the AKG sounded richer and more natural with more body. Maybe the blending of the pickups was the issue? I have heard your other review of the JourneyTek 3 piezo pickup on its own and think it sounds much better without any add-ons but that's just my opinion...

Had the same hunch as you. If he had blended in a bit less mic and a bit more pickup, that would probably have restored some of the missing bass and warmth revealed by the AKG mic.

I thought it sounded great, but perhaps I was wrong as they seemed to be no longer made.

Hey Matt - great video. I’ve watched it a few times now and just yesterday I installed the mic. The piezo sounds great but I’m getting a lot of distortion with the mic. Have you experienced this? And is there possibly an internal trim control?

The K&K is a better quality product. Much better cables and jack. Journey has larger Piezo`s but in my observation a few weak points with the connections , micro circuit board connections with a micro jack from the smaller cables. The K&K is directly soldered nicely like a normal jack connection. I like the sound of the Journey though. If you hold them both in your hands you can see and feel the difference. If you unscrew the end jacks the quality of connections becomes instantly obvious. For longevity I would go with K&K.

Did I miss it?you didn’t demo the ctactt pickup at 100%. And when you did blend in the Contact pick up it was only at 20% with 80% mic... I would like to hear the contact pickup solo

Heard From J>TEK, saying more coming in a couple of months, June-ish 2022 I also would like to hear more levels blending variations and a comparison With JJB Prestige 330 although they don't have a mic system ( yet?)
