just came here to say thank you for this... i've been doing them other ways and this looks much better.
Thanks again to David and Hesh for doing the pickup work on my J-160E. Perhaps you fellas could have someone strum a few notes, plugged in, to get an audio sense of how this install sounds? Keep up the great work, thanks again!
Elegant method of work, thank you for sharing it.
I can't believe you're still doing them one at a time. Make a tool to do all 3 at a time.
Brilliant
first! love it; also, check out the new baggs Hi-Fi bridgeplate pickup, it very much does the same job as the great-sounding K&K mini, maybe with a slightly less "direct" attack, but with an easy (and easily _reversible_ ) peel & stick installation

I’m surprised we haven’t had any of those come in for installation yet, but have heard enough good things about them that I’m excited to try them out!

@@A2Guitars I just went through the process of putting a Hifi in my Hummingbird and then returning it. Was not a good sound and no combination of volume/tone settings could get it to sound like something I would want to hear. It was definitely installed correctly. It sounded fantastic through an amp, but DI was brutal. I just put a K&K in it and it sounds like what I was hoping the Hifi would sound. Might just be my experience or maybe it didn't pair well with my Hummingbird, but the K&K is so much better, imo.
5:20 I have a Mexican Martin OM (cheap but serviceable) with this problem. The sensor is in between the E & B....like the E/A and D/G in the video. And the E string isn't nearly as loud as the B. The B can be very dominant....especially when playing hard. I have to alter my playing to compensate. I am going to try to slice off the sensor and re-glue it back under the E string like in this video. But I'm afraid I'll ruin it. This is supposed to be the cheap backup guitar, but even so, the lower volume high E string is driving me nuts.
Clever
Great video David. I have a problem: I really want to install a K&K pure into a 1949 J-45. You probably know the bridge and bridge plate are small with not enough room to get the transducers on the plate. Do you have a solution? I've heard some putting in a small extension to the plate, but don't want to do that. I could install, but a bit of the transducer would overhang the plate. Thats not ideal, but K&K does say some small amount of overhang is acceptable. Do you have any thoughts on this?
Look like the wire pin clamp is a "bit" higher than sensor (?).
Great work! Out of curiosity, which guitar is this?
