The Physics of Gravitational Lens

Gravitational Lensing is an interesting phenomenon that takes place due to the bending of light rays from a distant source due to massive galaxies and galactic clusters. Such galactic clusters acts as a lens, distorting, magnifying, various background objects as observed from Earth.
In this video I talk about the General theory of relativity, Gravitational lens, Einstein rings, Einstein cross and various applications in astronomy and astrophysics because of gravitational lensing.

I watched videos about the Eddington experiment which led me to the term "gravitational lensing" which led me here. After learning about non-Euclidian geometry and how that applies here everything finally clicked. I could not understand why the image of the star was displaced outward during the eclipse rather than inward as our sun's gravity would suggest. This video explained why beautifully.

As we can see that in gravitational lensing the light rays tend to bend near massive objects and show a converging effect. If somehow we discover or able to create negative mass then will the gravitational lensing create some sort of diverging effects. I hope you understand my question.

I think from this video ,just my opinion... solar system is itself a medium (vacuum) but still a medium where the gravitational lense factor gets affected when light passes through massive object... The point here I'm trying to make is solar system is just another medium projected in 3-D. The breakthrough to reach 4-D medium is yet to be known.... Physics is great.. Good vid anyway...

Question... People seem to be convinced that gravitational lensing is a real effect, but no one has been able to explain how we can be so certain. Can you? Why I'm asking is because there is one pretty obvious alternative explanation for those "Einstein rings" that we see, and no one has told me why I should believe in one explanation over the other. I've only been told that Einstein is right. Not why. That alternative explanation is that space is filled with charged gas, i.e. plasma, and that the bending can be due to refraction. There are people like dr Edward Dowdye (laughed at by those convinced of gravitational lensing) claiming that Einstein's evidence for GR - the bending of light around the sun - can only be seen when the light passes through the sun's atmosphere.
