The Photography of Jack London (Call of the Wild)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Today I'm exploring one of the most underrated photographers of the 20th century. His photographs, or "human documents" as he called them, spanned four continents. If you enjoy these slower-paced, more educational style videos, let me know in the comments below.

Thank you so much about your video, highlighting Jack London as a photographer. My first photograph that I have seen was that of the “nature man” Ernest Darling. It was not in his book of photographs but on the wall in my grandmothers house. You see Ernest Darling was my great uncle my grandmothers brother in law. I never met him but I did know his sister Edith Darling. I just came across your you tube sight and I am enjoying your posting. Happy New Year and keep up the good work. I hope one of your posting tells a little more about you, your background and your goals.

That's incredible. The photograph of your great uncle I saw in the book was quite striking. He must have had a lot of interesting stories. Hopefully you heard some of them through your relatives. Thank you for sharing and happy new year to you too!

Learned about him from the quote at the end of No Time to Die James Bond movie. Didn't know he was a photographer too! Good video 👍

I bet that was incredibly tough to get "candid" photos back then with the cameras they were using. Cool vid!

Definitely. He used a "folding camera" which was portable by the standards of the time, but still a boxy thing to lug around.

Yeah, unfortunately this was before I learned how to normalize audio levels. Using headphones might help.
