    Loved this Podcast, cannot wait for more! At 28 mins when discussing how you and other models perceive the way they look, a Bon Jovi lyric springs to mind: 'If you could see yourself as others do, you'd wish you were as beautiful as you'. Thanks again for the great and inspirational content. Best wishes, Scott.

    Love it - could happily listen to you two rant for hours and don't worry the sound is better than 90% of the pods I listen too already. Building on the reluctant model theme, can you give us any tips for relaxing, posing and photographing non-models - especially of only working with them for a 60 minute shoot.

    I was half listening and half pondering why I don’t care much for podcasts. 50 years ago I finished up 4 years of Electrical Engineering one-man “podcasts” (aka lectures). I survived and subsequently thrived. But, I don’t seek out podcasts. Always nice to hear what the two of you have to say, but I tend to limit it to 15 minute chunks.

    @Bec: Hi Be, I am so glad came back to the channel! I was quite worried that you weren't coming back. Now I see you are happy, you laugh and your eyes shine and they have hope. When your eyes point to the camera, your gaze crosses it, and also the viewer's screen, and they finally reach the viewer's eyes. -- @Bec: Once, I said in my comments that you should do modelling again and this is what I have seen you have done: really nice photographs Peter has taken from you. Also I said that the concept of modelling, applied to you, should be extended as being a model for young girls. Now I would like to make a little change and extend again the concept in the direction that you are also a model for myself, in the sense I should learn from you, because I have seen you are a strong woman. -- @Peter&@Bec: Many thanks for this podcast! I like a lot the way to talk to each other with respect. You always seem to be very relaxed in front of a camera. It is interesting to see what a photograph team does when they are not behind a camera. -- @Peter&@Bec: I plan to send an email elaborating a little bit more some of the points I will mention in here and I will add some more ones. I just need couple of days to formally write it. I have been watching your videos in this channel and I have taken a lot of BW background photographs and I would need your advise for the next steps. -- @Bec: I am really sorry you are sick, and I hope you can quickly recover. Please have rest because you need to be fit for the trip to US. You mention that during the travel you were fine, and when you came back you got sick. From my point of view: 1) our brain rules our body so I think your brain was programmed to withstand until the end of the trip, 2) our body has a mechanism to automatically stop when it approaches a dangerous point. -- @Bec: Interesting to know you have coking skills. I have to admit that I am a little bit lazy in cooking and this doesn't help my health. -- @Peter: I see you like to prepare every single ingredient, when you cook, I remember very well one live stream when you were coking, at the same time. This is fully aligned with your art because you all paint your walls and you build your wooden backgrounds. -- @Peter: I like the way you see the covid time, from a positive angle: "made me re-evaluate where I am as an artist and where I am as a creator". -- @Peter: Interesting to know that you like Twitter more than FB and IG, because I like it more too. I think Twitter is less restringing in censoring so I consider it as a better social media for art. -- @Peter: I like a lot the direction of the conversation when it went to break the traditionally beauty: "inspire models ... it doesn't matter what's on the outside if you can get the inside right... beauty is on the inside it's just a matter of getting it to come out ...". You would be surprise that I have never seen a single movie from some of the most famous beautiful actresses, because their beauty doesn't say anything to me, it doesn't motivate me at all to watch their movies. -- @Bec: You dignify yourself when you say: "... what is my purpose and I think mine I guess is to just help someone I guess feel better or make their life easier just help out whether it's making someone smile if I'm gonna make someone's day better whether I make them smile wether I help them with something ... that makes someone's day a little bit easier ... I just want to brighten people's live ... " -- @Bec: It is so funny to know your dark side, in the mornings, when you wake up. -- @Peter: Let me close my comments by saying that I used to envy you for being surrounded by Models, by super Models. Now I have another reason to envy you: you are surrounded (in a professional context) by super women, like the one that is sit next to you, at your right hand side, that I believe is (in a professional context) you right hand side as well.

    @@PeterCoulsonPhotographer you are welcome. I can watch the stuff on there all day (and lately I been doing just that because it allows me to get away from the stuff I wrote below for a bit). Sometimes I am lucky enough to get to shoot with a model at say 85% the quality of RaRa beauty shot skin. But most of the time I get models with really bad skin. And lately I been stuck in a creative/mental block because I just can't get myself to clone stamp and micro dodge and burn away such massive amounts of bad skin anymore. I think mostly because I know that even if I do spend days on the image it's never going to be anywhere as good as a near RaRa quality skin image. Do you ever shoot with models with bad skin? What if a client shows up with a model with bad skin and a stylist and makeup artist etc and you are stuck with a model with bad skin. Or say you never met the model in person and she only had highly edited filter images on her socials and shows up with the most cracked and acne skin ever. Do you refuse to shoot? My backlog of retouching shoots of models with bad skin has build itself up to over a year at this point it's.. I can't go on like this.

  • @PeterCoulsonPhotographer

    @PeterCoulsonPhotographer

    Жыл бұрын

    Commercial clients don't normally bring in models with bad skin because it costs and too much money in post production, if the model skin is really bad on one of my shoots I will owe the only shooter in black-and-white with very flat lighting or tell the model that her skin is gonna look terrible and leave the decision up to her, I will not spend hours retouching skin for free, I hope this helped, one other trick we normally look at the models best friends Instagram account because the Model special friend won't re-touch her.
